We also watched the 1st Pokémon as well, we were kinda on a Pokémon marathon, and we're even watching old episodes. Sadly, I'm no longer close to that friend, but I do say hi to him whenever I see him around town
I think "I choose You" was the closest any pokemon movie ever got to dethroning "Spell of the Unown" in my book. A lot of people at the time complained about Pikachu talking in English but I always saw it as the first time Ash truly understood what Pikachu was saying instead of actually speaking the same language.
I agreed with a lot of these takes, just a couple things I took issue with however: 1. The Regis make funny noises when attacking so the battles are 5/5, making the Lucario movie 21/20 2. Zekrom >>>>> Reshiram (this is a joke as I love Resh too, but Zek is better)
There is Pokemon the Movie Black Victini and Reshiram, and there is another version Pokemon the Movie White Victini and Zekrom. They're both the same movie, but there are several differences between them.
It was really fun remembering all the movies as you reviewed them and it finally got me to watch Secrets of the Jungle which I put off for no reason at all and man it was so good. I cried like a baby
I will always have a soft spot for Pokemon Ranger And The Temple Of The Sea. I'm a huge fan of tha ranger spinoffs so any time I see them in movies or anime I get so excited. I've always been much more fascinated with the bonds rangers make with pokemon. That and watching the movie reminds me of when I played shadows of almia. I just can't get over how happy it makes me to have a pokemon ranger movie, to show people how cool rangers could be. (I would really love for pokemon to acknowledge the rangers again, any piece of media involving the rangers is so precious and nostalgic to me.) Zoroark Master Of Illusions is another top fav due to everything with Zorua (I love zoruas) I haven't really watched many of the movies but others I have I also like are Pokemon Heroes and Pokemon Destiny Deoyxs.

I enjoyed the whole movie, then got to that point and had to stop and just stew in how baffled I was that they would do this and the implications that ash is just simply this ultra powerful being for no reason, and they never mentioned a point when it stops so presumably he's just got that power in his back pocket for the entire rest of the time he's protagonist
@@xRaiofSunshineI like the Jewel of Life movie because it has Arceus saying "PREPARE FOR JUSTICE", which is now my favorite quote from the Pokemon series. Also, why do people hate Arceus's voice? Personally, I find the voice to be quite enjoyably funny and menacing. Whenever Arceus is enraged, I was a bit unsettled by his voice because of how angry he sounded. In my personal opinion, Arceus truly carried this movie, imo. I'll say it with my chest: Arceus and the Jewel of Life is GOATED.
Watched all of it, subbed immediately. Peak funny, good review on most of the films, and honestly it was refreshing to hear “just enjoy it if you enjoy it” as the main takeaway. I haven’t watched any of these in years, but I remember the Celebi movie more fondly than it probably deserved haha.
Listening to the opening bars of the original pokemon intro on repeat without it ever resolving is a war crime, for which you must serve two hours community service.
An important part of Zoroark: Master of Illusion that you missed is that Kodai has the ability to see the future because he looked into a time rift, but it’s diminished over time so he wants to capture Celebi to make it reopen the time rift so he can restore his future vision
> "this villain who collects all 3 legendary birds to summon Lugia to capture it" But isn't it what we do as playeable character when play the game? So we are actually a villain in game? 😄
It’s interesting that for a movie set in Kanto and showcasing a Gen 4 Pokémon (I was before the whole legendary/mythical split so I call them legendary regardless), Temple of the Sea would have worked fantastically in Hoenn because the plot is at least half the run time in or around water and Hoenn is half water. Between Jack Walker and the People of the Water there could have been a really good spin-off where the former gets to interact more with the latter. The People of the Water just feel so well suited to Hoenn anyway, and could have tied into some Kyogre lore.

I think "I choose You" was the closest any pokemon movie ever got to dethroning "Spell of the Unown" in my book.
A lot of people at the time complained about Pikachu talking in English but I always saw it as the first time Ash truly understood what Pikachu was saying instead of actually speaking the same language.
that being Said "Detective Pikachu" is also a solid contender for "Pokemon Movies that could have Dethroned Spell of the Unown"
Spell of the Unown is, by far, my favorite Pokémon movie. Peak cinema. Magnificent. 10/10
I hope Gen 11 takes us to PokéVenice so we can jet ski down the canals
I agreed with a lot of these takes, just a couple things I took issue with however:
1. The Regis make funny noises when attacking so the battles are 5/5, making the Lucario movie 21/20
How did Rise of Darkrai not get a bonus point for the theme song? It's peak
It was really fun remembering all the movies as you reviewed them and it finally got me to watch Secrets of the Jungle which I put off for no reason at all and man it was so good. I cried like a baby
Genesect and Mewtwo was one of my favorite pkmn movies, apart from Giratina's. I would rewatch it so much x,)
(I would really love for pokemon to acknowledge the rangers again, any piece of media involving the rangers is so precious and nostalgic to me.)
Zoroark Master Of Illusions is another top fav due to everything with Zorua (I love zoruas)
I haven't really watched many of the movies but others I have I also like are Pokemon Heroes and Pokemon Destiny Deoyxs.
As someone who grew up watching the anime and now has a Gecko named Treecko, I somehow haven’t seen all the movies. I need to fix that.
Dudee I always lose it that they buried Arceus in literal CONCRETE in Jewel of Life LIKE HELLO?? oh my GOD
But I love your ending message :D
26:53 im also surprised you didnt mention how adorable manaphy is and how it says "baby" its so cute
“Mewtwo is a woman now - congratulations”
IKTR
i remember thinking that the big plant mech suit thing from the celebi movie looked absolutely awesome as a kid. Watching this, I am shocked at how bad the CGI actually was.
im in shock that im not the only one that loved secrets of the jungle, i love the message at the end and its thx to this movie that zarude its my favorite pokemon of all time
I read the tiltle as "Pokemon Move" not "Movie" and expected you to watch battle animations for an hour
i will defend hoopa and the legendary battles till the day i die (im full of nostalgic bias).
SHINY MEGA RAY MAKES IT PEAK!
The thought of anyone having nostalgia for Hoopa sent me into a state of shock, I'm sorry
@MxPokirby Same The XY movies were lowkey bad 😭
I have watched all of these, but the last one was so long ago. I remember most of them being bangers
He is not overstating how weird super sayan ash was.
41:49 bro I shipped Genesect and Mewtwo from this movie so hard
I looooooved Heroes, Jirachi, Lucario, and Deoxys as a kid, they’re soo much fun 😊
DARKRAI TOO OMG
The Manaphy movie made me soooo hecking thirsty as a kid too 😮
@@xRaiofSunshineI like the Jewel of Life movie because it has Arceus saying "PREPARE FOR JUSTICE", which is now my favorite quote from the Pokemon series.
You're channel is a hidden gem man keep the vids coming
25:00 how could you not mention that lucario and the mystery of mew reveals that ash has psychic aura guardian powers
Gosh that butterfree scene in I choose you actually makes me tear up every time😭
Watched all of it, subbed immediately.
Peak funny, good review on most of the films, and honestly it was refreshing to hear “just enjoy it if you enjoy it” as the main takeaway.
I haven’t watched any of these in years, but I remember the Celebi movie more fondly than it probably deserved haha.
Listening to the opening bars of the original pokemon intro on repeat without it ever resolving is a war crime, for which you must serve two hours community service.
pokemon heroes is my favorite, its what made Latias become one of my favorite pokemon. the soundtrack for that movie is amazing too
An important part of Zoroark: Master of Illusion that you missed is that Kodai has the ability to see the future because he looked into a time rift, but it’s diminished over time so he wants to capture Celebi to make it reopen the time rift so he can restore his future vision
> "this villain who collects all 3 legendary birds to summon Lugia to capture it"
But isn't it what we do as playeable character when play the game?
So we are actually a villain in game? 😄
Gen V: "Yes....?"
I do like in Destiny Deoxys that despite his fear of Pokemon, Tory still helped Minun when it was stuck in the trash can.
While hitting the like button for this awesome review, I gotta say: As someone who's been listening to Alf's video game music playlists several dozen times a week to get through my work grind, hearing you use his banger dj mix in the background triggered an extra bit of enjoyment out of me with this
This was such a wonderful video, and a rollercoaster, you've had me laughing, complaining about your Jirachi wishmaker score (as a joke) and crying. A LOT of crying. Oh and vibing too! Truly a wonderful video, I've enjoyed it so so much!
Your comment is so positive and boring. You proved how bad his content is.
@@mihaimercenarul7467 if you think his content is boring, you don't have to watch it, hope this helps ❤
Pokémon 4Ever was actually a movie that surprised me a year ago when I saw it last, cuz when Ash was trying to feed Celebi berries when it was dying, and so it wouldn't eat...damn, man, I just starting weeping. I just felt so upset that Celebi was dying; this movie somehow managed to reach my cold, black heart.
9:38 you think ash is saved, but as with all superman catch falling people, ash is dead from the sudden deceleration. him surviving is an illusion.
I was just rewatching the Ted barbie video the other day, guess it's time to rewatch this too 😂
Hell yeah, I can't wait to see what you say about my favorite one, Pokemon: The Movie 2000!
...oh...
2:10 "Im glad you can find enjoyment in things that I can’t.” Wow, words to live by
Hoopa's movie was one of my favorites and made me really like it as a pokémon so I took your advice and skipped that section, I don't think I could have handled it LOL. But other than that- Really entertaining video! I'll definitely be looking out for a video on the miniseries if you end up doing it.
I watched this whole thing... and what i learned is I'M NEVER WATCHING THE POWER OF US OMG??? WHY WAS I CRYING JUST FROM YOUR EXPLANATION LMAOO
"Breaking and Entering can go into your permanent record"
Ain't that the core gameplay of Pokémon?
One thing that i love about the Gen 4 movies is that they are all connected and Canon, since Ash remembers meeting Arceus in Journeys.
imagine just going with your day, and suddenly an entei kidnaps your mom
The Sinnoh trilogy has always been and will be my favorite three Pokemon movies
Also thank you for pronouncing Arceus correctly 😀
Aww this was a ton of fun to watch! Looking forward to seeing more from you :)
Bro LOVES Jungle Book 💀
Nah jk, good video. The Hoopa movie is also actually a perfect movie because Regigigas goes "hedaheda heyhuw ahahahahahhahaha" and that soundclip plays randomly in my brain at least 3 times a week.
9:41 charizard pulled the same move piccolo does in all the DBZ movies to save gohan, man i loved this scene! I wish charizard had more badass moments like this in the Anime
This man understands darkrai take his word as gospel 😂 really solid video personally my favorite movie is the one with Lucario and Mew but I have fond memories of all the older ones even 4ever
I like this guy, he has a chill vibe. Subscribed
Meowth breaking the fourth wall is just hilarious
OTHER PEOPLE LIKE SECRETS OF THE JUNGLE AND IM NOT FUCKING CRAZY???? THANK FUCKING GOD
Also not a movie but shout outs to the special during Ash's final episodes. Legit one of the many time this series made me cry lmao
I LOVE THE JUNJLE !!!!!
You did an amazing job with this video, thanks for the trip down Pokémon lane ❤ thanks for your hard work on this video!!! Really good watch keep up the good work ✌️
The bad guy has a R on his chest he works for team Rocket so team Rocket made the Dark pokeballs
Imo, Power of Us is the best Pokémon movie.
Also hoping for some movies with Liko, Roy, and Dot
I had no idea I had watched so many pokemon movies, core memory unlocked
