I have noticed that berry plants do need a season or two to acclimate to the new surroundings , raspberry, blackberry, blueberry and ect ! Nice job on the gardens! Coming along nicely 👍 Don't think you will have an issue with the beans over the potatoes either as beans usually are done first . Trellis them and that would help! We are in SW Michigan and its very similar growing 💗
I put in a bunch of blueberry bushes last couple years, have to fence wildlife out, pine bark mulch to acidify, net when berries close to ripening, growing along slowly but surely.
Love the effort you put into your videos! You two enjoying your best lives. The garden looks great, and Jen your flowers beds are awesome. Thank you for sharing.
At least in your garden when you say I don't know what that is, you know that it will be good for you. When we go to the store to buy groceries that come in boxes, we don't know what what some one put in the boxes. The box could say it is nutritious, but who knows? Keep up the good work and I hope your garden keeps you well fed!
Wow guys looking good the garden. My garden is come slow. I haven't been gardening. In years. Since I been watching your show. You guys got me in to again . My garden looks like ❤❤😂.green acres.
Congrats on getting to 50k. Good luck on your garden. It’s looking really good. I’ve never seen tomato leaves that big. It is good to keep the bottom leaves off so it doesn’t touch the soil and stay wet. That’s what makes them go bad.
Well I am glad ypuvmentioned Jens other channel. Nice. I will listen in winter. I livebin the country do I get to hear all the sounds here but it will be so fun for winter dull days
What a fantastic garden , Hey all you folks need is some chickens for eggs , You don't need a rooster just the girls feed them what you eat besides their chicken food , that is what my girlfriend does. Yes blueberries take a year or two to become established at least for the highbush one's . Darn Jen my lavender sprigs are falling over don't know why.. gets sun soil drains well. Love your part of the garden. pretty it is. WOW that rainbow cloud was cool .
Nothing yet.....everything is so close to the cabin the deer are a bit hesitant to come up here so far......but I may be adding fencing at some point if they find the garden
So much rain and cool weather, all my celery is yellow and all the peppers are stunted. Will show in a video maybe tomorrow along with the start of my greenhouse
Jay, try using a solution of Epson salt & water to water your plants. I use one cup of Epson salt in one quart of water then add the solution to a watering can and I water the plants about every 14 to 21 days It makes my peppers really go to town.
A small wood chipper might be a good investment. The wood chips would be good much and holds moisture plus it looks nice. You got lots of free material. New to the channel and really like it.
Everything in your garden is really growing good. You're going to have a lot of veggies coming out and the flowers are looking good jen. You have to be careful with black-eyed Susans they spread a lot I had to t h i n mine out and plant Bose elsewhere and they stay blossomed for a good 2 months at least mine did I'm sure yours will as well. Another video well done you guys have a beautiful day
Every year is a different beast. Some good some bad. Only fail if you don't try. Even if it's just one thing in a bucket on your patio or herbs in kitchen window
i mostly grow the big ticket items that we would ordinarily spend a lot of money on feeding ourselves. 7 rows of corn, 4 rows of onions, 3 rows of potatoes a row of tomatoes, few rows of green beans.... Plus, you know... Rhubarb. The potatoes and onions store well in the root cellar but we freeze the corn and can the green beans. we mostly pick and eat the tomatoes and rhubarb as they ripen but we dry and preserve a variety of herbs. We have a few apple trees that look they are are finally going start to pumping out some apples, a lot of apples
The garden is looking good. You will have a nice variety of fresh vegetables. Awesome. Do you have a rootcellar? Or plans to make one.? You have a blessed life enjoy.
You may want to research marigolds and ferns as well as learning foraging other 'weeds' for edible and medicinal purposes...(food, tinctures, extracts, etc)
Just rotate your potato patch... next year... we compost old potato patch in the fall. Just let the potatoes air dry, don't wash until you are going to use them. Just keep a journal of your garden and how it all turned out
Hi Guys, Have you ever planted your onions and peppers so close to each other? I wonder if the onions will get the heat and sweetness from the peppers??
lol....Pears take on average 7 years to produce fruit, LOL. I have been waiting 7 years for my Wolf River Apple tree to produce too....still NOTHING, LOL
According to Scripture, here's why: Leviticus 19:23-25 - “When you enter the land and plant any kind of fruit tree, don’t eat the fruit for three years; consider it inedible. By the fourth year its fruit is holy, an offering of praise to GOD. Beginning in the fifth year you can eat its fruit; you’ll have richer harvests this way. I am the LORD, your God."
You said you didn't know if it was okay to plant the garlic 🧄 🧄 🧄 🧄 in with your peppers 🌶️🌶️🌶️🫑🫑🫑. I can tell you what God says about us doing that and you can go from there 😊😊😊: Leviticus 19:19 - "You are to keep My statutes. You shall not breed together two kinds of your cattle; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor wear clothing of two kinds of material mixed together." I haven't seen anything in Scripture about raised gardens.

Nice....these are good points too. Things I forgot about, beans can almost be planted twice a year here, so thanks for that. 👍
I put in a bunch of blueberry bushes last couple years, have to fence wildlife out, pine bark mulch to acidify, net when berries close to ripening, growing along slowly but surely.
Nice....I did use a red pine bark to mulch them this year.....so that should help too. Best wishes and thanks for joining us. =)
Garden is lookin good y'all!! J & C

Great work guys 👍 that root cellar is going to need building sooner than you think.

Agree 😊 👍
Gardening in Michigan is alot easier than in Arizona. Different soils. I wish I could have brought a truck load of dirt here.😂 Happy Gardening ❤❤
Composted manure is the best. And it does take at least a couple of years to establish fruit plants.

great vid again!
Hi Jay & Jen , do you still have a garden done state ? I remember you had a short video of it & it was doing very well. Green thumb you both have. 👍
Not much this year....efforts are spent here at the cabin now. Permaculture downstate
Blue berries are an acid loving plant and need an acid fertilizer.
Looks great guys!
Thanks so much!
Love the gardens.
Loved the video. Always good to mix it up. 50 k woot woot!!!
Woot woot
You can eat the leaves of the broccoli too. 4 to 6 hours of sun is good
The garden is looking great! We need some rain down South or my garden is going to die!
Oh boy.......hope you get that much needed rain my friend
Research the origin of the mortgage lifter tomato. It’s interesting and also happen near where I now live.
Very cool...will do that right now.
GREAT VID ...CHEERS
The marigolds are so easy to collect the seeds from when the bloom dies and you dead head them just pull the bloom out and the seeds are right there
😊
The garden is looking good. You will have a nice variety of fresh vegetables. Awesome. Do you have a rootcellar? Or plans to make one.? You have a blessed life enjoy.
I have a hole dug....just have to get working on it
You may want to research marigolds and ferns as well as learning foraging other 'weeds' for edible and medicinal purposes...(food, tinctures, extracts, etc)
Succession gardening. I'd like to see how that's done. I can only grow a few veggies at a time, and after we eat those, that's it.
I will have to try the hillbilly tomato.. That interesting..I have brandy wine
You'll keep yourself and the neighbors well fed with that garden.
If you want great tomatoes , use Jobes tomatoes spikes , then just stand back and watch the miracle happen .
Do you ever dehydrate your garlic and herbs ? It last a lot longer
We will have to do some of that this year
@@OffgridwithJayandJen we have done it a few times and it's a great way to enjoy it all year and you know it's the real stuff 😁
Just rotate your potato patch... next year... we compost old potato patch in the fall. Just let the potatoes air dry, don't wash until you are going to use them. Just keep a journal of your garden and how it all turned out
Great suggestions
I’d take the sunflowers out because they’re going to take all the moister
Stay for the b-roll y'all! It's the best part! (Sorry Jay)
Glad you enjoyed it buddy
Hi Guys, Have you ever planted your onions and peppers so close to each other? I wonder if the onions will get the heat and sweetness from the peppers??
First time here....we will see how it ends up 😊
6 year old pears tees //never ,not 1 pear//I going to put 100 watt solar panel and 12 volts to my tree and see it charge it lol

Buying plant starts is no more cheating than going to the grocery store! No condemnation from this girl.
No judgment. 😊
Thanks lady....appreciate that. I have grown from seed before, but the last few years I have gotten a bit busy and lazy about it.
@@OffgridwithJayandJen I am a regular viewer. I would never consider you lazy!!
If you can say the word “pen”, then you can say jalapeño…jala “pen” o
