@Tono_lagos It's always possible for either the Space Pirates or even the Galactic Federation to build an entire artificial ecosystem based on SR388 in planet Zebes similar to the one in the BSL Station in order to allow "the Baby" to continue it's natural life cycle, becoming a Queen and kickstarting a new hive in the process. As long as you have the resources and technology Metroids can STILL grow into mindless killing monsters ANYWHERE in the Universe.
@Tono_lagos As proven by the BSL space station in Metroid Fusion the Federation did know about the effects SR388's environment had on the Metroid life cycle. Seeing as the Space Pirates had a giant, superintelligent monster brain at their side it might have been a matter of time before they figured out the secret to growing Metroids allowing them to create hives to their hearts content.

Ah, I'm about to hit this very point now in the game, and based off of what I've seen "It should be a breeze" it's the one after this one that concerns me lol.
Man, good fight. I never really got the gist on how to avoid the second fire attack that starts from the upper part of the screen. Thus, I finished the fight with 30 energy and my heart beating at 120 bpm 😂😂
I hate it when she uses her fire breath on the ceiling FIRST and then on the ground, as well as launching those green balls. What am I supposed to do to avoid this attack?! Ground first, then ceiling is fine, just spiderball onto the wall and jump off when the ground fire extinguishes. But I can't avoid the attack the other way around! And I can't space jump to avoid because of those damn green balls!
i dodged by spider ball jumping to the ceilling with a power bomb the first time out of reflex. the green blob can't hit you during the propulsion either so thats nice.
Shit me too, was looking for this comment, I can never avoid when she does that pattern first, what I did my four time playing this game as soon as she shoots the greens balls I quickly turn to morph ball and start climbing the ceiling, all three times she shot down first, not sure if I just got lucky but that's what I did, but yeah fuck that attack lol.
The Queen Metroid is essentially a big Dodongo from the Zelda series, you kill it in pretty much the same fashion by bombing its insides. I’m also surprised at how many people didn’t realize you could roll in her mouth, that was the optimal strategy back in the original Metroid II and you have to do it in Other M
Wow, just think...Samus was sent to SR388 by the Galactic Federation to exterminate all Metroids...but after defeating the Queen Metroid, she went against protocol and decided to adopt the Baby! Goes to show that even intergalactic bounty hunters have a soft side!
I was wondering before why people would not try to find a way to get inside the Queen on this version of the game, or if Nintendo had removed the action. One of the surprises in the original Metroid 2 GB game was that it was quicker and easier to enter the paralyzed Queen's mouth when she froze right in front of you and deposit as many morphball bombs as possible till she died instead of laying 200+ rockets on her and almost dying in the long process. I remember doing that by accident and then it became my preferred way of killing her. Then watching other people's game play on this version really made me think that Nintendo wouldn't or couldn't have erased that option and I am glad now that I saw that they didn't.
And this kids is how metroid fusion came into play, all she had to do is murder the last metroid. 5:23 The metroid saga would have came to a final close, no super metroid and beyond. Then again if samus went to zebes and tried to take on mother brain with no help. It would be the best blood bath samus has yet to see in her lifetime.
Metroid Fusion happened because Metroid II/ Samus Returns happened. The X Parasites were all but extinct on SR388 because of the Metroids hunting them. Since Samus killed them all, they repopulated and infiltrated the BSL. If Samus had just killed the baby, maybe she would've survived Zebes and maybe she would've defeated mother brain and the pirates without the baby's help. But there would be nothing to save her from an X parasite infection, thus no one to fight them and destroy them all. The Chozo's original fear of the X would've come true
@@SparkerZed Exactly. 👌 In the end it was for the best that Samus spared the baby Metroid despite all the death that would eventually ensue in Super Metroid 3 and Other M. Had she not done so the X would have infected the entire galaxy killing everybody.
I guess many people don't know this, but you can slam into her by spider balling onto the wall and using a power bomb to propel yourself. It interrupts her attacks and does good damage, so you can use it when she's in a phase you don't like. I used it whenever she'd spit the green blobs.
It works but it's hard to pull of after the second powerbomb to the queens heart. Because she starts to shoot her beam on the ceiling and I run into the beam before her head
ShadowNinjaGrump Game or melee counter and shoot? There's auto lock on after the melee too so you don't have to aim. It's a lot faster. Then again, the stupid snail things can't be melee countered, I guess ice would work on them
Gameplay and variety wise I say this is better than the AM2R version of the queen, the idea of using the spiderball during the boss fight was brilliant, sadly the presentation is not nearly as good as AM2R, specially the music, the remix of the classic theme carries so much more tension and drama than this new one.
Just finished this game today and of course i didn't knew you could enter her. Saw that you could do that in the gameboy version and thought "wait, what if..."
I have never once made it past the second stage of this fight. My hands physically cramp up and I can no longer work the controls. The 3DS is just too damn small, it wasn't meant for adult hands.
Can anyone tell me how the grapple works? Samus just latches on and stands there. I don't get it I don't remember being told how to use the grapple on enemies. I had the same problem with the Zeta metroids
Aim at the Glowing Red Grapple Spot, Hold L(Or switch to grapple beam) and Aim, when the light turns Light Blue, Shoot and HOLD the Shoot Button, then While holding the Button move the Analog stick back as though your trying to Pull on the enemy.
Both games have their merits; for a fan game made almost entirely by one guy over the course of a decade, AM2R is a damn impressive accomplishment for being as good as it is. But I absolutely prefer the Metroid fights in Samus Returns.
Goddamn! I didn't know you could go inside. I just used super missiles. Also, where you used ice beam, I used regular missiles to soften her up. I'm trying to get the under 4 hour finish time...and you've helped "bigly". Thanks.
MercurySteam's boss designers clearly recognized that the most natural thing for a territorial space lizard to do is fill the room with a maze of energy balls and then coat the walls with fire. Truly immersive boss design. The power bomb sequence is executed perfectly here though.
The Queen Metroid is as intimidating as always. I wonder how Samus would handle the Basilisk from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets? I mean, would she know not to look the Basilisk in the eye, and that it has very potent venom? Then again, she probably would just shoot the Basilisk in the eyes with her eyes closed, considering she shot the Diggernaut in the face with incredible accuracy without looking at it.
You could destroy those green orbs with the Screwattack the entire time!?!?!?!?!?! And I was dodging them like Catherine Zeta-Jones dodged laserbeams lol
It’s actually really neat how the metroid counter not only let’s you know how close you are to completing your goal, but also serves a narrative element. When the number suddenly starts going up it tells the player that the metroids are either duplicating themselves or *something* is making more. Adds such a cool bit of mystery and stress as your progress starts regressing with every new metroid that appears
There’s a lot of people that didn’t think to use the spiderball for the wind pushing attack didn’t diggernaut teach y guys ?i sure as hell frustratingly learned
I have to say, I don't really like the bosses in this game. Either they repeat way too often (regular Metroids) or it feels like you have to crack some kind of secret code to figure out how to be even able to beat them and/or be some screw attack savant.
Most of these comments are saying that they didnt think to crawl into the queen metroids mouth. Correct me if I'm wrong, BUT ISNT THAT how you killed her in the original?
this game is impossible to play on keyboard, i'm trying to kill this boss on computer, using citra emulator, and only my keyboard and i cannot properly aim during the whole game is nightmare.
Why the Baby Metroid is so freakin' adorable?? Look how cute this thing is, and how happy it behaves around Samus.

Anybody else think the Queen looks cooler with a red shell?
Man, good fight. I never really got the gist on how to avoid the second fire attack that starts from the upper part of the screen. Thus, I finished the fight with 30 energy and my heart beating at 120 bpm 😂😂
Is it bad that I want a cute baby Metroid plushie????
Renza Lightning no. I want one too.
No
Not at all.
And I can't space jump to avoid because of those damn green balls!
one time she managed to light all three sides while having those green balls. i was simply fucked.
Go under her.
after a week i can say i've fought her so many times and gotten 5 no damaged runs in a row because i love fighter queen metroid so much.
i dodged by spider ball jumping to the ceilling with a power bomb the first time out of reflex. the green blob can't hit you during the propulsion either so thats nice.
This game would of been great for switch with higher graphics
You could play it with the Citra 3ds emulator. It allows you to use a real controller and set the graphics to HD!
Queen Metroid: YOU KILLED MY BABIES!
Samus: Your majesty! How are the little bastards?
Queen Metroid:...really?
Samus: LET ME COPE!
The metroid saga would have came to a final close, no super metroid and beyond.
Then again if samus went to zebes and tried to take on mother brain with no help.
It would be the best blood bath samus has yet to see in her lifetime.
She went to zebes to try and save the baby metroid from the space pirates, if they hadn't kidnapped it she probably would've nuked them from space.
They even used the snes Metroid sounds for the baby Metroid!
And samus' death scream
I guess many people don't know this, but you can slam into her by spider balling onto the wall and using a power bomb to propel yourself. It interrupts her attacks and does good damage, so you can use it when she's in a phase you don't like. I used it whenever she'd spit the green blobs.
I tried a few time, it never did anything... Maybe I used the wrong timing.
I will try this
It works but it's hard to pull of after the second powerbomb to the queens heart. Because she starts to shoot her beam on the ceiling and I run into the beam before her head
Ok I just held down my super missiles and power bomb wall jump every time she uses those green orbs and it went by quick and I killed her. Thanks
You can Simply roll und er her Body while she attacks with the green Bubbles und the fire and sit the Situation out
I did not even use the ice beam the entire game just to get that Metroid you need it for after that I never even used it again.
ice beam only makes metroids easier to fight other then that its not very good in this game
Is it just too evil of a weapon to you?
Cato no I just forgot about.
You didn't even use it against the larva metroids before this fight? Ouch
ShadowNinjaGrump Game or melee counter and shoot? There's auto lock on after the melee too so you don't have to aim. It's a lot faster. Then again, the stupid snail things can't be melee countered, I guess ice would work on them
HOLY F*$& I didn't know you could just morph ball inside! How the hell did I not try this!!
AMAZING and 3D in this game is SUPER!
Gameplay and variety wise I say this is better than the AM2R version of the queen, the idea of using the spiderball during the boss fight was brilliant, sadly the presentation is not nearly as good as AM2R, specially the music, the remix of the classic theme carries so much more tension and drama than this new one.
My first run, I didn't know you could roll into the Queen and use the bombs. Still won anyway
Just finished this game today and of course i didn't knew you could enter her. Saw that you could do that in the gameboy version and thought "wait, what if..."
I love this scene with the baby metroid! And that first person shot really sells me
Oh geez, I had no idea you could roll inside of her. Good to know for next time.
I almost forgot that the Ice Beam is effective too!
I want you to try this in hard mode and fusion mode please trust me it's fun and more of a challenge
This is legit the hardest boss in the whole game! Facts!
Ohhh I didn’t notice the mother brain music before
I did not know you were supposed to go inside it
Your video really helped me win this fight. Thanks a lot.
The theme of Queen Metroid is like a mix between Flaahgra and Mother-Brain Rex
I'd love for this to be re-released at 60fps
The baby metroid's so cute
I love how the battle theme calls back to mother brains 2nd phase in super metroid but it also sounds like the prime series
No sabia que se podia entrar a su estomago xD no recuerdo haberla matado de esa forma
I don't know how to game apparently
The biggest pain to defeat.
Aim at the grapple spot holding L, then shoot. You'll know if you're aiming at the right spot because the laser sight will turn blue before you fire.
Aim at the Glowing Red Grapple Spot, Hold L(Or switch to grapple beam) and Aim, when the light turns Light Blue, Shoot and HOLD the Shoot Button, then While holding the Button move the Analog stick back as though your trying to Pull on the enemy.
Richard The Lionheart you gotta pull on them lol, it's like with the red glowy blocks. They don't ever tell you this, you just gotta rely on thinking
Waitttt...you could grapple the zetas? Wowwww
3:29 how did you do that?
Instant morph ball is by touching the bottom screen
Samus Returns wins over AM2R.
Both games have their merits; for a fan game made almost entirely by one guy over the course of a decade, AM2R is a damn impressive accomplishment for being as good as it is. But I absolutely prefer the Metroid fights in Samus Returns.
true
Still can’t understand why some people hate this game
Because there salty about AM2Rs takedown.
Goddamn! I didn't know you could go inside. I just used super missiles. Also, where you used ice beam, I used regular missiles to soften her up. I'm trying to get the under 4 hour finish time...and you've helped "bigly". Thanks.
Dang this is hard but I'm gonna beat it tonight
This epic. I just love how music fits with Samus movements in the opening cutscene.
MercurySteam's boss designers clearly recognized that the most natural thing for a territorial space lizard to do is fill the room with a maze of energy balls and then coat the walls with fire. Truly immersive boss design.
The power bomb sequence is executed perfectly here though.
It’s not exactly the most interesting boss ever in the original game.
I had no idea you could crawl into that bitch
The music for this fight sounds AMAZING
The Queen Metroid is as intimidating as always. I wonder how Samus would handle the Basilisk from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets? I mean, would she know not to look the Basilisk in the eye, and that it has very potent venom? Then again, she probably would just shoot the Basilisk in the eyes with her eyes closed, considering she shot the Diggernaut in the face with incredible accuracy without looking at it.
Will Ridley ever learn? He has to be seriously overconfident to get his butt kicked almost every game and still returns to try again
I keep on forgetting that the spider ball is even a thing.
1:52 I didn't even know you could go in the stomach
Anyone noticing that the Queen Metroid’s boss in this game gives off Mother Brain vibes from Super Metroid.
There’s a lot of people that didn’t think to use the spiderball for the wind pushing attack didn’t diggernaut teach y guys ?i sure as hell frustratingly learned
How is it possible to show her emotion without ever seeing her face?
Chrisls Actions speak a lot more than words and expressions.
Nintendo magic
The magic of subtext. Her hesitation was enough to convey doubt.
I have to say, I don't really like the bosses in this game. Either they repeat way too often (regular Metroids) or it feels like you have to crack some kind of secret code to figure out how to be even able to beat them and/or be some screw attack savant.
This video game is great, but I prefer a thousand times AM2R (Another Metroid 2 Remake).
PEGI 7 seems pretty low for a game where 4:33 happens
It’s rated E-10 in my country.
Damned green floating ball attack
I shall call him squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my squishy 😊
Most of these comments are saying that they didnt think to crawl into the queen metroids mouth. Correct me if I'm wrong, BUT ISNT THAT how you killed her in the original?
It was one way to kill her.
this game is impossible to play on keyboard, i'm trying to kill this boss on computer, using citra emulator, and only my keyboard and i cannot properly aim during the whole game is nightmare.
It's almost like it wasn't made to be played on a keyboard.
You're supposed to grapple beam the red thing?
