    Thanks! I watched Xero's useless video on fitting the sandal and assumed the slapping and catching the toe of the sandal was a problem with the sandal or my foot. With your video, I get a clear explanation of how to tighten the sandal - and how not to tighten the sandal. Xero should just link to your video and save a lot of headaches for everyone!

    Thank you so much! I did not realize there was so much I could do to adjust these sandals. I wanted to love but didn't, primarily because of the slap/flap issue. I'll give this a try. Thank you again!

    Great advice. I came to barefoot running to feel stronger, more connected to my surroundings and less dependent on technology. I then spent hours online researching shoes and more money on barefoot shoes than I ever did on shoes. Laughing at myself. Despite the irony, I love my Xero HFS and am happy to spend £40 on these if they save me from the thorns.

    I'm on my fourth pair of these sandals. I've logged hundreds and hundreds of miles in them, both running and walking. While they're a great option for strengthening your feet and building calluses, I've never worn a barefoot sandal that picks up more small rocks and trail debris than the Xero Genesis. Also, I think the company could a lot better then the plastic adjustment pull knobs. It's very uncomfortable when those abrade the skin, and all around they feel like a super cheap component of the sandal and I think Xero can do better.

      @whmmswrrld 7 месяцев назад

      Yes! They’re the only thing keeping these back. They’re so weirdly on there like some kind of afterthought. The toe thong also definitely needs some getting used to with some feet. The little ropes themselves are great though

    • @lafamillecarrington
      @lafamillecarrington 4 месяца назад

      You can easily remove the plastic ends, or shorten the cords so they don't slap around as much.
      I was interested to read that you have problems with stones etc. - I have found them much better than the much thicker-soled sandals that I had before - presumably a fit-related thing.

    My biggest issue with this shoe is the insane price for a piece of foam and a bungee cord

      It’s not bad if you compare to Earth Runners, Chacos, Tevas, etc. You’re also supporting a small business when you buy Xero shoes which is great 🤗

      Agree it is hard to get the head around but also agree it's better value than the alternatives and an investment in yourself.

      I have the cloud. Have worn it for over 2 years and it's as good as new. One can easily get a vibram cherry sole and a length of paracord and make their own. Cost and value are two different things.

    Bit late, but I feel like part of the reason you are sliding around might be because of where you have the slider knot. It's also probably why you have a hard time getting them on/off. I'm on my second pair now and I've run on all kinds of trails and through mud, puddles, snow...you name it. The sliding off thing hasn't really been a major issue for me. On my last pair, I had the slider knot about an inch and a half back from the toe post. On this pair, I am trying it with the knot a bit closer and the toe post seems a bit shorter also (maybe just not stretched out yet). Seems fine so far, though yet to test this pair out on anything serious.

    Noticed an issue with the lacing design. It puts a lot on tension on the plug that holds the laces between your toes. Had a couple pairs break on me during running! Have you checked out the Shamma Warriors?

    Wow, buying after this I think… the cons were so small! Touching the ground with my foot every once in a while is something that I can be completely ok with.

  • @RicMoxley
    @RicMoxley 4 года назад +3

    Great video, but it didn't include the one bit of information I was actually searching for: how to trim the excess string/strap after I get it tightened down just right. There's enough extra string that it's sometimes dragging on the ground, sometimes getting under the sandal! Though I don't see any instructions on how to do so on the Xero website, it APPEARS as though that little tab at the end of the strap might be openable, making it possible to slide the excess strap through, cut it off, and then re-close that tab. But I'm reluctant to try it because I don't want to break the tab if it's not actually adjustable! Do you know? Thanks.

      xeroshoes.com go to the support tab, and the 'adjusting your sandals', there's a video on shortening the lace, did mine yesterday, super easy

    Itsa super sandal… my main issue with them is the heel adjustment dont hold its tension…mine is 3 to 4 years and they are done. I’m thinking of getting a new pair.. I am also looking for an alternative cos of the heel strap system…. Maybe i will try the z trek

    I’m still frustrated. The right foot is fine. On my left foot, the toe flops away from my forefoot at every step. When I tighten the long strap over the foot to the point where it no longer flops, the cord between the toes rubs painfully every time I put my foot down. No such problem on the right foot, even when things are a little looser. Tried loosening it a little and tightenIng the cord that knots around it (the slippable one). That doesn’t help either. There must be some magic point of equilibrium, but damned if I can find it.

    Why not just wear pair of flip flops if the sandal is designed with so little anyway?

  • @notghibli7946
    @notghibli7946 7 месяцев назад

    ugh, man. I watched this video, studied the sandal, bought it, put it on, and then, only then, realized that it doesn't have a wide toe box. It's a minimalist shoe that only fits if you keep your toes squeezed together like you're wearing a traditional shoe.

    Considering your video and another I've seen with the same issue happening, I wouldn't buy this sandal. There's no use in shaming yourself. They shouldn't break this easily and that would concern me if I was out on the trail. They need to improve their quality. I can spend a lot less for a cheap flip flop that will bust just was easily. I sure wish I could get my Reefs in a zero drop style.
