    Hi Gang! This video is about how to go about changing the watch strap on the brand new Garmin 955 solar. It can be bit of a pain but its worth it for the super light weight feeling and comfort and not to forget the ability to then attach quick-fit bands.

    I cut the original band in the 955 with small nail scissors and attached my 22mm quick fit band. I have a few of them so I will not miss the original band at all.

    Great video again. Sorry if I missed this but does the watch strap apply to the regular FR 955 too? I have psoriasis so this would be a massive benefit for me. Still debating my next purchase but this would go to the pros list for the 955. Atb.

      Good morning William! This strap will work with the regular FR 955 too! Hopefully this strap helps with psoriasis, I know that my skin is sooo much better off with them, just make sure to clean and dry them everyday (shower with the Watch on and then dry off with towel & leave on the side to dry for a few minutes) and you should be good to go 🌟 All the best mate

    Thanks for the video. Helped me remove the band on my 955. I wondered if you have any recommendations for good silicone quickfit bands in the UK? I tried one from Amazon but it was terrible and when I put the watch on the pin would pop out of the quickfit system! I also just purchased the screen protectors and nylon bands using the links so thanks 😊.

      Hey mate, thanks for the lovely comment! And also Thankyou for supporting Active Ideas via affiliate links, as a small Channel it means a lot ❤️ Unfortunately I can’t recommend any cheaper Amazon silicone QuickFit bands.. I’ve had the same experience as you. I think if you really want another silicone band, get it directly from Garmin or second hand off eBay would be great👍🏽 I’ve not taken my cheap Amazon nylon bands off all year haha, the durability, weight savings and comfort (& for someone with sensitive skin) have been a life saver 🌟 All the best

      @@ActiveIdeas thanks for the reply! I tried the Garmin official quickfit band but they fit longer than the ones that come on the watch and just don't work for me due to that. Woes of being female with tiny wrists (140mm) but still wanting the feature full watch that is the 955! I actually just received a band from eBay a few mins ago which so far seems a lot more secure than the ones I tried from Amazon. It's always feel sketchy though as I don't want to end up losing the watch 🤣. It does feel nicer than the ones I previously tried though and the quickfit mechanism is stronger.

    • @ActiveIdeas
      @ActiveIdeas  2 года назад +1

      Haha, I didn’t know that! Just had a quick look on Garmin, had no idea that the QuickFits were one size fits all 🤣 I’m not far off you with 160mm, a watch somewhere between the 7s and the 955 (with 20mm bands) would be perfect haha. LOL, yeah, I hate the ‘new strap anxiety’ you get when strapping your £500 watch to a sketchy (but beautiful) £8 strap 🤣 That sounds super promising actually! Good luck with it and good luck with training! 💪🏽🌟

      @@ActiveIdeas, I’m talking about the quick release mount for the bike? Once you took out the bands from the 955 and install only the spring bars. Do you think that will fit the quick release from Garmin 945?

    • @ActiveIdeas
      @ActiveIdeas  2 года назад +1

      Hey, sorry mate I’m not sure what the answer is to this. I think I saw on a forum that it didn’t fit but you’ll have to do some research 👌🏽

  • @jasper7257
    @jasper7257 Год назад +1

    Do you know if all Garmin 22mm bands are compatible? So if I get a 22mm band for the 955, would the pins of that also fit in the pinholes of the 265, 745, 965 etc? In other words, is the diameter of the pinholes in all Garmin watches the same? It would make sense, but finding compatibility of bands / watches on the Garmin website is tricky and I find it quite inconsistent / contradicting sometimes.

    • @ActiveIdeas
      @ActiveIdeas  Год назад +1

      Such a good question. To the best of my knowledge The quick fit pins on the 955 and the 965 are thicker than conventional pins for this specific mm width which is annoying when it comes to finding a replacement. This is always why when we take the Garmin strap off we remove the pins to use them again with a nylon band. I also think the 265 and 745 (not quickFit) DO have a normal pinholes and you’ll be able to buy any strap off Amazon for example. I may be wrong but this is how I understand it. All the best mate 🌟

    • @ActiveIdeas
      @ActiveIdeas  2 года назад +1

      Absolutely, I can swim about 4-5 times a week and it’s been great.. I get good heart rate with the strap too. I’m not sure if I would use this strap for an actual triathlon as triathlon’s can be rough and I would be worried about another athlete pulling it off my wrist 🤣 But for swimming down your local pool or open water swimming it would be great great 👍🏽

    Question? Have you tried the nylon strap on water? In case you did it, how was it? Does it release fron strap?

    • @ActiveIdeas
      @ActiveIdeas  Год назад +2

      Hey mate, I have tried nylon with water.. specifically when training for an Ironman triathlon race! It was okay, definitely fine for paces 1:55 min/100m or slower. For 50m, 100m, 200m full on pace I did have the strap come loose and Watch nearly fall off. You can try prevent this by remembering to really push down on the Velcro before swimming to create a strong seal, usually works. I also found the Amazon bands to manage slightly better than the UltraFit tbh but there’s not much in it 👊🏽 Hope this helps 🌟

    Hi.. Does installing a screen protector on the 955 solar affect its solar ability?? Just worry about the screen just scratch if not install screen protector

    • @ActiveIdeas
      @ActiveIdeas  2 года назад +2

      I have a screen protector on mine and I’m still getting similar battery performance to before (my solar ring still fills up to full) .. you should be fine. Because 955 does not have a sapphire screen it’s not worth taking the risk 👍🏽

    • @ardlishahlinaardli9031
      @ardlishahlinaardli9031 2 года назад +1

      @@ActiveIdeas thankfull for ur answer.. so thats mean can use screen protector to 955 solar? If yes i want to install it cause im really worry scartch or craked. Can I Use a Screen Protector With a Garmin Solar Watch? Garmin does not recommend the use of any kind of screen protector, as it will reduce the solar intensity received by the Power Glass lens.

    • @ActiveIdeas
      @ActiveIdeas  2 года назад

      Yeah you absolutely can use a screen protector with the Solar 955.. I’m using a screen protector and the Solar capabilities are functioning perfectly. Maybe instead of 100% solar energy conversion you’ll get 90% instead.. but that’s well worth it for protecting the screen and you’ll not notice such little difference

      @@ActiveIdeas If damage occurs to the screen while using a third-party screen protector, the watch will not be covered under Garmin's warranty.

    • @ActiveIdeas
      @ActiveIdeas  2 года назад +1

      Yeah I would definitely be careful when applying the screen protector and also don’t buy a cheap one (might have adhesive, chemicals or something crazy on it). Apart from that I doubt you’ll damage your screen if you protect it. I wore the Vivoactive 3 with multiple screen protectors (I cracked lots) on for 4 years .. I work in high ropes so would frequently bash it against metal, rock, trees.. climbing gear ⚙️ After 4 years the screen was spotless .. looked brand new, no marks no cracks, no dents, no dead pixels 👍🏽

    Replacement watch pins (aftermarket) for the Fenix 6 are available here, in the 2.3mm diameter size (22mm length)--4 pins for $9.99 USD. I wonder if they will fit the Garmin 955 Solar, as well? I have asked the question, via the website: ruclips.net/video/jM29ZI-81QY/видео.html
