The best visual explanation of how to use quick-fit bands on the 945/955. Thanks for this.
You're very welcome! Good to see you on Ko's stream today!!! 🙌🏻
Handy wee tutorial, these things can be super fiddly, so handy to watch the video Matt 👍🏃
Awesome, hope it helps a few people. 👌
Finally..I've been looking for this for a long time..thank you so much..
Wait, was this your video idea? I was going to look for your old comment.
indeed , great hands on tutorial ( after going through several other peoples vids in which they are, essentially, just promoting themselves /their channel )
Best video ever. It helped me to do this with all your tips ! Thank you !
You’re welcome. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Good job, thanks for this simple and effective explanation!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
This was very helpful! I am considering changing from my dying 935 to a 745 and wanted to make sure I can still use my strap collection. As far as I know both use the 22mm width
Yes, 22mm should work Peter! I have a few colors that I used for this video and once it's quick release bands it's easy to switch. Maybe I should mix it up more often. 🤔 Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Lawd that intro! Awesome. Great video idea. Well done!
Thank you! 👍
Thanks so much Matt. love the pink. I really appreciate this video.
You are so welcome Sean! This watch band is a bit tricky but if you switch it with a quick release band you'll be able to make switches a bit more quickly. Thanks for watching!
Perfect Matt. Thanks from Brazil!
Thanks for checking this one out Rodrigo!!!
OMG this was so helpful, thanks!!!
You are very welcome Emese!
Many, many watch bands out there come with a free spring bar tool. Worth having if and when you build a watch collection!
I needed one of those spring bar tools for the intro of this video. 😂 Thanks for letting us know about it and thanks for watching this one.
If I had a watch with a band like that, I'd make a video to show how to do this with a pair of precision needle nose pliers. So much easier.
I rather enjoy seeing Garmin use the old school expansion rods to hold the band in place!
That opener was on point, BTW.
Great video, Hoss!
Thanks! I figure it might help someone with this watch band out there. 👍🏻
@@mlegrand I've changed so many of those type straps, it's insane.
This would absolutely help someone, for sure!
Nose pliers are the way to go!
Thanks for the video..
You are very welcome Ahmad. Hope it helped in some small way. They do make special tools to help with these small pins but you can get to them other ways. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Great video! I've been reading about changing the strap on my 745. BTW, I've had the watch for a little over a month and love it. Completed my first half this past weekend in 2:16:59. Was shooting for sub 2 hours but I injured my foot a week prior.
Keep up the awesome content!
Nice work Ty! It's going to be cool to see you crack that 2 hour barrier. Keep me posted. 👏
Thanks Matt!!! I was struggling big time. Why didn't they just make them quick release as standard!!!
No idea. Garmin is super odd about their watch bands. The 255/266 series has a little nub for quick release, the 955/965 have this odd standard and then the high end Fenix series has Garmin's Quick Release. No idea why. 🤷♂️
Thanks for the video Matt. Do you think the fat spring bar will fit the quick release mount for Garmin 945? Thanks
I’ve noticed that Quick Release mount is very particular about the Watch size. So I have my doubts. It seems like Garmin has given up on it with the new 955. 😬 I’m not sure why as lots of people really enjoyed it. Thanks for watching John!
That’s what Garmin told me@@mlegrand. They said to use extended display mode on a triathlon event which make no sense. 955 is the same with Edge models. Why will I do that. I hope some 3rd party vendors will make it soon. As of now, I’ll stay with my 945.😆
Does anyone know if the bands from the Garmin 955 fit the new 965? They're both 22 mm but the watch shape looks slightly different. Thanks!
Those bands should be interchangeable as far as I know. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Where can I find colored straps in AMAZON or other websites? for garmin 745 it must to be straps with those little pins right?
You can reuse the pins that come with the watch and only get the quick release straps to connect to the old pins. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
hi i wanted to ask how did you take out the axes with the tape? or where did you buy new ones? thank you very much for your answer
I bought new straps on Amazon. There should be some links in the description but if not I’ll add some links. Are you asking about how I faded the strap out to reveal the pins in the video? I wasn’t sure about the axes tape question. I just overlapped to identical clips and faded out part of the top clip.
@@mlegrand I was more interested in where he got the axes for the quicfit tape. Whether you took them out with the original garmin 745 tape or bought new ones.
Would you be able to use a Quick Release band if you just use the right spring?
You could use the original pin and then use any quick release band. 👌. Thank you for watching and you’ll have to let me know what color you’re thinking!
@@mlegrand thank you Matt. I appreciate your videos and information
Where can you get orange band for garmin 935?
bit.ly/945BlackBand
I did make a video talking about switching out that watch band also. It's a little easier but you need those little screw drivers: ruclips.net/video/-fZwdMRGDtw/видео.html Good luck! 👍
Can we use Hemsut strap on the 965?
Yes, it should be compatible with 22mm quick fit watch band styles.
Pink is the way to go! 🤣
😆
OMG That pink and black one is sick! It doesn't look like its on the link you shared. I think this video is 2 years old. Do you have any newer links for bands?
Yeah, sorry this is an older video. All of these came from Amazon. I love the look of that pink and black one also. I can actually look to see if I still have it, maybe I could mail it your way.
@@mlegrand Oh my gosh that would be so awesome! I was on Amazon for the last hour or so and couldn't find one like that. If you don't use it and want to get rid of it I would totally take it off of your hands :)
@@ChelsayAllDay - I'll have a look as soon as I get home. Send me a private message on Instagram. I'm not looking to sell anything but don't mind gifting out extra product I have around here. 👍🏻
@@mlegrand Sent you a PM on Instagram. Thanks so much for taking time out of your day to even look for it. If you can find it, and still don't want anything for it, Ill gladly send you the money for shipping! And even if you change your mind on selling it, Im still interested :)
I have the whitstone colourway and wonder whether I could use a black band 🤔
Should be able to switch out any watch band with any other color. Make sure you keep the pins.
@@mlegrand I suppose its whether the white watch looks good with the black band!
@@XJam5 - Only one way to find out!
Foi complexo, mas consegui rs. Obrigado amigo
Glad you got it. It's oddly difficult. The replacement bands might be a bit easier to use. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I would like to buy the white 955 but I'm undecided because I think the only strap that looks good is white. do you agree?
I think they both look fine personally. I do worry about the white showing dirt and grime. Especially after working on bikes. 😬
Any video on how to change bands on Forerunner 965 ?
Should be the same as this one here. They do make a special tool that's helpful but you can do without. Let me know if you're still having issues. 👍
@@mlegrand Copy that. Will try my hands on it.
another query, how do I switch between watch faces on forerunner 965 please?
do you have video on the same?
@@gargsaurabh82 - I don’t think I have a video on that but hold the left middle button for a short cut to the settings area and it should be the top option. 👍
@@mlegrand
thank you.
Can u add a link or name of bands shown in your intro
Have a look at the links in the description and see if that’s what you’re looking for. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Now do the 945. Or maybe you have already and I don’t remember. I think I’d be down for a red band on mine.
It’s a bit old but it’s on here: ruclips.net/video/-fZwdMRGDtw/видео.html
Great .
👌 - Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I appreciate the fact that no Garmin watch seems to have ever come off the straps. But, how hard can you make it to change it out? 😢
100% agree. I made this video making fun of Garmin and the people engineering the straps but basically the point was: I don't understand why they don't just use Quick Fit straps on everything. Why re-engineer this stuff over and over when you have something that works? Sorry I had to make this video for people Anindita. Hope all else is well.
I tried hard to get used to the normal Garmin silicone strap that came with my 745. It’s fine during activities, but absolutely unusable as a daily driver to say, track your steps or sleep all day. The silicone is not breathable at all, water gets stuck inside the strap leading to skin irritation. I might go for a AW SE just to have a comfortable daily driver that I can work and sleep with. 😅
I voted the pink BTW... 😁
I tried to make sure pink was in here! Ha!
Just use a spring bar tool, cheap on Amazon
I was curious about these and I hadn’t tried them so I didn’t want to tell people to buy them if they didn’t work great for the Garmin Watch. Do they work well?
@@mlegrand I'd assume so, being made for the job and thin they'd be your best bet to get it done easily.
Use it a lot on my normal watches.
But no haven't tested specifically sorry.
@@mtber1988 - I’m tempted to buy one just to test it. I see them for about $9. 🤷🏻♂️

Correct 👍
Woah. That's way too difficult. They really have a lot of work to do on these watches. Noticing lots of flaws on the 965.
Yeah, agreed. 👍
mix the color...I Wear red and Yellow...
👌 🔥
Geez. That's horrendous. The charging port and this have me kinda shocked after my 965 purchase. Whoops
I wish they had the easy switch on them like the Fenix series. I can’t imagine it cost Garmin that much more per strap. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
@@mlegrand I’m sure it costs them more in loss of sales for not doing it. That alone makes me kinda tempted to take it back. Fortunately for them this strap isn’t all that uncomfortable. It just comes standard for left wrist. & unfortunately, although the forerunner 235 has no problem tracking my heart rate on runs and in general. The 965 heart rate sensor completely shuts down if it sees even the slightest tattoo. So for that in particular to be a downgrade from a device that’s so many years old. I find very disappointing. But that’s why it’s gotta goon my right wrist because there’s a sweet spot where the tattoos aren’t covering.
Why garmin, why?
Why are they trying to make it so hard?
Out of focus an too far away. Thanks for nothing, Danny Bonaduce.
Any time Nightporter. 😆
@@mlegrand ok, you don't really look like Bonaduce. I was just feeling sassy. 😉 But you ARE a good looking guy.
@@thenightporter - The internet is no place for sass. Either that or it’s the perfect place for it. 🤷🏻♂️
