You mad genius!!!! I struggled like a son of gun for over 45 minutes using various self tried techniques until I found this video. I got each side off in 2-3 tries with your method. Thank you!!! Very appreciated!!!
Thanks mate. Yup it's a 5 secs job with your method. I never likes garmin straps as they allways catches to my clothing. I'm currently using suunto 9 peak with metal pin closure with my fenix. So comfortable and sleek.
@@ljot1 I was initially, but know that many other smart watch straps uses the standard, thinner watch pin. I actually tried to pull the standard pin that I replaced out and was not able to easily, so far it has been reliable but I'd keep an eye on the condition of the pin. If it starts to bend, then definitely take it out and replace with original.
I am trying to remove this type of spring pin and still having trouble. I don't understand what putting pressure on the back of the bar with the end of the strap does.
I finally got the pins removed but it was very difficult, even following your instructions. Nonetheless I think your method helped. Thank you. I really had to work hard to get a knife in there. I tried a special watch tool designed to remove spring bars and that didn't work. Needed a knife. But then it was a little bit dangerous. You have to be really careful not to cut yourself if it slips out.
Great video. I bought an alternative strap too....but my point is: after replace the strap, if I want to remove again, WITH the strap on, the job will be more harder.... You remove the pin again, after this video, WITH the new strap ??
The new pins (standard watch pins) can be easily popped out by using a knife and pry on the bump near the edge. If you get straps with quick release pins, then no tools are required.
@@FcoAyusoSuero standard pins work fine, but I agree with you Garmin pin is a lot more thicker and durable looking than standard watch pins. But I have been using a standard pin with new strap and no issues so far
Are you sure? then how did they put it inside in the first place? The spring on the Garmin original pin is quite thick, making them look like they are not springs, that maybe the case.
The screwed on pins are even easier to remove in my opinion. Sadly you have to spend a bit extra on the screw driver if you don't already have it in your tool box. amzn.to/3qt8VAr
I'm probably the only one - tried for 20 min - nothing works (broke x2 'knifes' Finally -just bend the pins with screwdriver -and it was the only methods works (ps. how stupid of Garmin to make hole.pin base of plastic (not metal) and so incr. difficult to replace it at all
Why would you want to remove the pins. Theres a bottom on the band, you press it and it releases without the pin. Maybe i am missing something here...?
There is a difference between quickfit and quickrelease. One lets you put on the band without removing the pin. The other one lets you remove the pin with a suspension (or so). The third and worst option (the one i have) is removing the pin and a screw
This was the best way in the world! I struggled forever until I tried this method. Unless you have absolutely no fine motor control there is nothing dangerous about it.

Thank you so much! I was struggling for almost an hour. I’m glad to have found this video.
THANK YOU! I have had EXACTLY the same problems with the silicone bands for the same reasons, and you have saved me so many headaches!
I used a small flathead screwdriver (fear of cutting myself) and it worked. Thanks so much for this trick.
This was perfect, took me seconds to remove was a "why didn't I think of that moment!" Great vid!
Thanks for making this video, it was short, concise, and incredibly helpfull. I never comment on videos but felt the need to on this one. Thanks!

Thank you. Struggled a bit, but in the end it worked. Not sure why Garmin did not provide a better way....
I made a paracord strap and have to weave it through the spring bars already installed. Thanks for the vid
Right on!
Had done some many tries😢 never worked. Now within 3 times the pin removed! Thank you so much!
Fantastic. Question. How do you get it back in?
You'll need a standard watch pin removal tool to remove the standard watch pin, then you can pop original pin back in there since its spring loaded.
Brilliant! Thank you. I'm a total newb and it only took me a handful of tries to figure this out!
I did it with the small tip of a springbar remover tool while pressing on the garmin sprinabar with my thumb. Worked a charm.
Legend! Works a charm on the fenix 7s. Takes a few attempts.
Trying with my Fenix 5 but can't get the pins out.. will this not work with the Garmin Fenix 5? Thank you
@@justinspirational should work the same
How much pressure are you putting? Having a hard time figuring this one out! Thanks
Quite a lot on the back... so not much pressure is needed on the knife.
Thank you! Will try again tomorrow and see if I can get it
Thank you for this sir. You contributed to humanity.
I have never seen such a valuable video, you gave me a great help, thank you
Why do you need to remove the pins? The bands have a quick release and they come right off without removing the pins?
Some folks want to use aftermarket/traditional watch straps, which are not compatible with existing thick pins.
What size is the spring pin that the epix 2 comes with?
22mm not including the tip of the spring pin, 25.3mm including the springs. 2.25mm diameter pin.
@@TheGizmoGarageThanks!
So with the big spring bars removed, how well do the 22mm spring bars fit from say the forerunner. Is there noticeable movement in them?
Yes there is, so that's the trade off from ability of using non quickfit pins and straps.
How well do standard watch pins fit as opposed to the original?
Construction of standard pin is definitely thinner, but it does allow for other kind of straps to be attached.
Are you at all worried about the thinner pins coming off? I want to do this too but curious if you've tested the durability of it at all?

I've 3D printed plastic rings…
Thank you. Can you provide the link for the aftermarket strap you bought ? It looks great
I bought it here: www.etsy.com/listing/755275159/01-nylon-fabric-smart-watch-band-sport
Is there a way to go back and reinstall the original pin?
Yes, very easy, just pop the original pin back in there like any other regular watch strap ins, since they are spring-loaded.
i want to know how to put back the original strap pin😅
It’s spring loaded just like regular pin, press the pin to squeeze the original pin inside the holes
I am trying to remove this type of spring pin and still having trouble. I don't understand what putting pressure on the back of the bar with the end of the strap does.

Thanks! Saved my nerves and time! Much appreciated.
Some models of the Fenix 7s don’t have springs in the metal rod so you must break it

Like all true genius - simple when you know how! Thanks
I've been waiting for two months now for my ordered Garmin pins.
You are my HERO!!!!!!!
Thank you sir. Why would they make it so complicated?
To protect their own eco-system of replacement straps
it works, thx.
btw, bands from instinct 2x is not compatible for fenix 7x xD
I bought the strap with tools at Walmart after market .
You are simply the best!!!
Nice tip, however that doesn't work with older Garmin Fenix watches that have screwed on pins.

It works !!! Thanks a lot man
No prob!

Use once this manual, and than change for a older one :D

Why would you want to remove the pins. Theres a bottom on the band, you press it and it releases without the pin. Maybe i am missing something here...?
Because the pin on this Garmin watch is thicker and not compatible with standard strap accessories or nylon one piece straps
There is a difference between quickfit and quickrelease. One lets you put on the band without removing the pin. The other one lets you remove the pin with a suspension (or so). The third and worst option (the one i have) is removing the pin and a screw
Thanks!
Also if you want to use a metal strap you will need to feed the pins through the metal strap, hence they will need to come out first.
What a stupid and dangerous method to remove a watch band. This is how not to do something.
Hello sir, do you even own a Garmin QuickFit equipped watch?! If not, please do not comment. Thank you.
This was the best way in the world! I struggled forever until I tried this method. Unless you have absolutely no fine motor control there is nothing dangerous about it.
