Hi Roger and thankyou for subscribing....I hope you enjoy the channel's videos. Yes, the iridium GO appears to be a popular item amongst yachties, as well as outback travellers.
Hi Rusty Just Subscribed after watching Nanup video. Liked the tour around 👍. Had same Thuraya problem. Iridium Thuraya not working 3months ago. $1200 Thuraya hardly used… only refund of $500 but still waiting for part refund. So I dumped Iridium & went for new iPhone 15 which has Emergency Sat connection by holding 2 side buttons in. So… low & behold the next video up was you prospecting about 6 wks ago near meeka. We were north of Tuckenara at the same time. Prospecting with ML 4500. See you in next video. Cheers Trevor & Rose in Casuarina Retired (old Auto Electrician) & Computer Tech for HP, Honeywell etc. Then own business as Apple Computer Tech for many years when you could get down to component level.
Hi Trevor and Rose. Thankyou for subscribing. Shame about the Thuraya satellite meeting an untimely end. I'm happy with the new Iridium GO unit, but it is expensive to send text messages every day....Starlink is the way to go in the bush, especially now that Starlink have replaced my failed dish/router kit. I wish you all the best on your next prospecting trip.
Ok you asked for input on your videos! Alaska USA here, definitely need to get a wind muffler for your mic so you can stop apologizing for wind noise on most videos. I’m your age and just retired me and my wife love detecting I also have a 5000. A two week trip I think is cutting you short of narrowing down a productive area. That being said if you get a chance watch the graf boys. He also prospects Australia, pay attention to the area and length of time Steve stays and his filming techniques he’s bin doing videos for a long time and does a great job with just his cell phone. We would love to see your part of the world some time soon. Enjoy life. Keep up the good adventures
Hey Bruce, thankyou for taking the time to comment on my video. I do have a fluffy looking cover for the mic but forgot to take it with me on this trip, so I'll definitely be giving it a workout next time. Having said that, it was really, really windy on this trip, so not sure how efficient a wind muffler would be at cutting down the wind noise. I try to limit my time away from home, to about 2 weeks at a time, but I understand what you're saying. If I could convince Mrs Rusty to come with me, then I/we would be able to stay out on the goldfields for longer. Happy gold prospecting to you and your wife.
It use to be worth while looking around old timers shafts, but if the area is listed on a Gold deposit layer, every man, woman, child, and dog has been on the ground. 50 - 150 metres downhill from the shaft is a better option, but it is also hard work. Everyone is going to go where the old timers found gold, so you need to get more adventurous with the surrounding area of where gold was found
G'day Slim, thanks for your comments regarding what's typically around old timer's mine shafts and how attractive the area is to every man and his dog. I agree that maybe the area away from the shafts might hold gold, especially on the lower slopes. That area where I was, is probably worth another look, but away from the shafts, next time. I've been looking at some of your videos and you seem to pretty well for yourself, so good luck and I hope you find plenty.
Good video mate we are home again now trying to fix up my joints so we can get out again. I might de able to pop up a video looking at the Adelaide hills and might have a look at Victoria as well before next season. Catch up with you next season.
Thanks Ann....I've also found a can down a goanna hole. I knew as soon as I detected it that it was probably a can, but I had to dig it up, just in case.
I'm be surprised if your starter battery would go flat when sitting for a week. I can leave mine sitting for a few weeks and it starts with no problem. Plus i now carry 1 of those book size lithium jump packs
Hey Darren, with my old battery, it would start to go flat after a couple of days, but I must say the new Century battery in the Nav now, is way better. Are those lithium jump packs worth having in the car???
@@RustysOutbackAdventuresyes mate for under $200 the lithium jump packs are worth every cent for piece of mind. Even though my D23 Nav is a manaul i wouldn't be able to push it by myself as i do a bit of remote touring. Anyway Rusty i Always look fwd to seeing your vids👌👍
Hey David, not a stupid question, at all. The design of the detector and coil registers a 'disturbance within the electrical field' created around the coil but can't decipher the nature of the 'disturbance'...metal, gold, brass, aluminium, etc. That's why you have to dig every target.
@@RustysOutbackAdventuresok but 35 years ago my parents had a detector and you could switch from metal to non ferrus , couldn't you use an old one after you start digging around
@@RustysOutbackAdventures sure does mate spikes all the time ..I live in Mount Magnet and out often the hot rocks are getting noisier every time .,good luck hope you get on to some real soon ,,definitely getting harder .but it’s still out there
Well done another great video Rusty, I really enjoyed the trip away with you sorry I got crook but these things happen best regards Gary
These things can't be helped, Gary.

When will you be back in WA??
@@RustysOutbackAdventures probably around April may next year at this stage but no hard and fast rules

Yeah, thanks Gary....still working out what I could change my name to. Gary is doing ok but not quite out of the woods yet.
lizards take cans underground and their entry hole can be a long way from the target zone, I have been caught out myself.

How come you dont set the detector to non ferrus and you wont detect the other junk 🤔 im new to this tho , so sorry 4 my stupid question 🙂

I'm not aware of a detector that will let you switch from metal to non-ferrous, but I'll certainly have do some research.
Good stuff Rusty. Nice to have the time to scratch around. Great video mate.
Thanks Jim. I enjoy getting out in the bush but just lately I'm struggling for time to go more often!
Swan gold finish in 2003
Thanks for the info....so the can has been in the ground for quite a while, then.
There getting way louder as the ground heats up ..
Yes, I've heard that. I've also heard that storms can affect the way the detector operates, too.
@@RustysOutbackAdventures sure does mate spikes all the time ..I live in Mount Magnet and out often the hot rocks are getting noisier every time .,good luck hope you get on to some real soon ,,definitely getting harder .but it’s still out there
Thanks for that...I'm definitely due a change of luck, but I agree, it does seem harder to find, so I'll have to up my research a bit.
