One of my old bands once stayed at the Thou drummer’s (white shirt) house while on tour. Super nice guy and left us a bunch of breakfast options to choose from in the morning before we left and let US lock the door lol
holy jesus friggin' christ this so motherfucking great, never would think that they were going to play on KEXP. you guys should have some heavy bands like these.
@@whatthefuck1011 Check out Sumac, the same drummer from Baptists plus the guitarist and vocalist from Isis. They're slower than Baptists, for sure, but great band.
When it started I was like... "Fuck this they are ripping off a Marilyn Manson riff...." then the title popped up and I was like... "Oh ok that makes sense..."
Kexp you guys need to a Headbangers sessions for the heavier bands like this! This is awesome. I love all the bands you have on, but it's great to see more heavy bands.
Yo so pumped to see these guys on KEXP, saw both the body and Thou back in 09' and it was my first time hearing them both. Amazing live, would love to see them again!
I'll be honest at first I wasn't a fan of Chip's vocal style but after listening to some more of their work it totally grew on me and now am a fan. Thankfully for me I gave them a chance because I would've missed out on some really incredible fuckin music!! And Thou is fuckin amazing as well. Together they have the ability to make lots of (Quality) music and colab with some really diverse musicians that really works well with each of their styles. Its great to see these younger musicians really putting in work and having a really open mind in who they will colab with. Im loving it and thinking it is the key to their existance in decades to come imho!! Anyways they both rule thanks KEXP for another keeper!!
A very pleasant surprise to hear this on Kexp :) C'est très bien de laisser place à la diversité, même si je suis plus tourné vers les sonorités très lourdes. Thumbs up ;)

Fuck me this is awesome. I was curious about what the second cover would be but I did NOT expect that. Two superb bands and some of the finest noise to be coming out of the States right now.

My favourite part of this video is not the great alternate version of Prescience or the amazing cover of The Chain, it's how freaking high the bassist from Thou is. He's so damn high.
There are some Nirvana covers on Thou on some compilation album of Nevermind, forgot what's it called. But it's on Spotify and prob on other streaming services too.
Oh my god, the dialogue between the guy in the studio and the bassist is so awkward, it's hilarious. He's either stoned or just painfully awkward and spacey.
From Marilyn Manson to Fleetwood Mac. Did he tell the host they were their songs to mock him? I didn't hear him say covers, and the host didn't seem to know.
i was dreading the chorus for Irresponsible Hate Anthem, but then the lyric was changed to "everybody's someone else's someone" instead of "someone else's n*****" and honestly i let out a breath of relief. i would've lost a lot of respect for them if they'd stuck with the original lyric.
Naomi Bradley Lets analyse this for a moment. You responded strongly (negatively) to a word, not that it was even said, but in at the thought of it being said in the near future. It's a word. You're afraid of a sound. A bit of advice: Don't let a word have that much power over you. What purpose does it serve?
If this was on the radio then thats probably why they changed it lol. but knowing brian he probably always changes it. when covering Sweet Leaf sometimes he would scream "Sweet Tea" instead lmao
I kinda think that's their aesthetic, cuz I've been to a couple shows and I think they purposefully lower his vocals just so it doesn't overpower the rest of the amazing music. Idk...maybe it didn't come off the same way it does in clubs
Joey Summers You’re spot-on with that. Even in the recordings, his vocals are kinda buried in the mix. They’re more or less texture in the song as opposed to a focal point.
@@srsucioguapodelsur8845 I wish they would bump them up. His vocals are the only reason I got into them. I didn't like the music but I loved his vocals. But The Body has really grown on my recently.
The middle two songs, Skinwalker and Prescience, are original to the bands present, though I believe they weren't originally from their collab but from their separate releases.
2 good bands, enuff!. Overrrated. I love the agressive material in the old ep´s but i never liked the long albums. I love the compilation albums. The body.....meh.
I'm assuming you don't care for his recorded vocals either? They sound the exact same here. This guy is a solid, consistent vocalist, killer lyricist and an amazing artist. Have some respect.
Is there an age were doing this type of music is just ridiculous? Like I associate it with eighteen ish year olds and seeing a guy with all white beard just looks ridiculous. Like bro, are you still emo? You're a grown ass man

Also worth checking the AV club, similar format, some great stuff there too
i heard a song from one of the body & thou's collab ep's last night on the radio in seattle. went crazy in my car.

Wow. Did NOT expect to see the heaviest pair of bands alongside the twee darlings that normally go on this show. Good on ya, KEXP
YES. Both these bands rip. Always enjoy seeing them collaborate.
the last place on planet earth i thought i'd see a marilyn manson cover is kexp.

Edward Aleman why? They used to make great music. Well at least the 3 first albums
