    Thanks for the tour Jake! Sadly, I’m no longer able to see what is in videos etc as I lost my last bit of site two years ago so your audio descriptions were really helpful! This brings back so many happy childhood memories of moving into new RAF house in the 70s, 80s and 90s when my Dad was in the RAF! My favourite house was on the married quarters at RAF Halton! 😂👍

      Damn I'm sorry to hear that Ben but I'm glad you have a good positive attuite and I hope you are still doing well. Wow the 70's, I guess times have changed a bit since then. That's great to hear what trade was he and did you ever follow in his footsteps? Well I am planning on going back to Halton as an instructor in the future so that has just given me more of a reason to go there 😄

      Thanks. I do try to stay positive but it isn’t always that easy. He was a pen pusher working in supply. He retired about 20 years ago when he was a Squadron Leader. I didn’t follow in his footsteps due to my eye condition. The closest I got was the civil service, ha ha! 😄

    house looks amazing, and thanks for the update!
    a little update on my application: I just did my interview, although I failed, as I got anxious and forgot some of my research I had planned.... but hey, I passed my eye test so that's some good news 😂(hopefully my second try will be a lot better as I know what to expect now). Talking to people is definitely NOT one of my strengths, im hoping to improve on it though

    • @JakeGchannel
      @JakeGchannel  3 месяца назад

      @@g2_k783 thank you 🙂 damn sorry to hear that but the best thing about failing something is that you’ll always come back stronger than before (given you have a strong mindset which I can tell you have). Talking to people was my worst fear when I was young but then I got put into situations where I had no choice but to, so I just embraced it, now I can talk to anyone about anything. It’s all experience and getting things wrong believe it or not. Just keep in mind success is only achieved when one is willing to work in failure and have the tolerance to endure adversity.
      Best way to improve is just do what it says on the tin, go make conversations as best as you can with people, in the beginning it will be hard but you’ll it’ll get easier the more you do it.
      Good luck and let us know how it goes.

    Say if you wanted to replace something e.g you wanted to buy yourself a bigger desk, a different mattress or something - would they take the original one for you or would you have to find a way to store it yourself?

    Thanks for the Video Jake! I've been following your journey since around your fitness test and am starting my phase 1 on November 26th. I was wondering, as a pc gamer myself, how much time do you generally have for games nowadays? I expect with a new career and a daughter it can be hard to find time. Also, what is the internet speed like? Cheers, Harry.

      @@PherylUntamed hi Harry, no problem, thank you very much for sticking around! 🙂Oh nice good luck with it! Yeah we’re still trying to find our feet when it comes to free time but it’s getting better. Well phase 2 is much more relaxed and you have way more free time than Halton (well my trade we do) so you can game then. The speed in the block is pretty poor but there is an option to purchase internet yourself as in put a router in which will give you way better speed. Some of the guys in my old room have done that. Let us know how phase 1 goes and if you have any questions about Halton feel free to ask away 🙂

    I have a few questions about the raf sorry if it’s long but firstly as a regular is there such thing as a 9-5 job secondly do you get much time to do the things u want to do and thirdly are there any jobs that are based just in uk

    • @astroliity7747
      @astroliity7747 3 месяца назад

      Also what job did u go in for and are u reg or reserve

    • @JakeGchannel
      @JakeGchannel  3 месяца назад

      @@astroliity7747 so firstly yes to some extent there is a 9-5 element but this can alter depending on your trade and role within it. I.E if you’re a QRA pilot for example because the security is 24 hours they’ll prob take shift patterns. Yes so currently I’m only in phase 2 of training but from what I’m told from people who have spent years in there is that once you’ve done for the day that’s it time is your own. In terms of jobs probably not as it is the military so you will go on tour at some point in your career the real question is how frequent and that all depends again on trade. Regiment gunner for example travel a lot.
      So I’m CCS which is cyberspace and I’m a regular not reservist.
