    PLEASE READ
    So I’ve just had my first paycheck through with the deductions and it has come out a little more than I was originally told below is a rough estimate to what I am paying per month:
    Rent: £300
    Council tax: £160
    Electric & Gas: £100-£140
    Total: £560-£600 per month
    Keep in mind this will all change depending on where you are, what band you’re under etc.

      I had my DAA last Thursday, I’m telling you now, the anticipation is way worse than what it was, all the questions are GCSE level stuff so make sure you keep your bite size revision up and my best advice is that time management is key, if you know the answer don’t bother reading the other options because at the end of each section (if you’ve got a few minutes left) it lets you go back and review your answers if you think you want to change them, good luck :) and what role have you chosen?

      Not done OASC, but ive done the PGSC and there was an officer on it. Be very confident in speaking in crowds and taking charge. Be an outgoing person with a strong attitude, easy to talk to, good listener. Don't use slang, if doing any physical testing or activities, try to be at the front. Be a good rock and be supportive to the other candidates, don't be afraid to put others first if they need help, the staff will notice it. Good luck!

    How early could you apply for housing? Partner is currently in raf doing phase 2 and we want to try apply for phase 3 as it’s 44 weeks and we have a baby any info is appreciated

    • @JakeGchannel
      @JakeGchannel  3 месяца назад

      @@amber9542 firstly congratulations on the baby hope all is going well. Secondly, he can get it in phase 2 and onwards from that point on, I would defo recommend getting the house done asap as once you have it its with you for the rest of you’s two career. It’ll take me a while to type it all out but the video I did before this is where I explained what I went through and how to apply for a house. If you still have any questions drop it there or here and I’ll try to answer it further if the video doesn’t help (hopefully it answers all your questions).
      Last tip, make sure you have a birth certificate (if you haven’t got one already that is) as he will defo need this for proof.

    • @amber9542
      @amber9542 3 месяца назад

      @@JakeGchannel thank you! And congrats to yourself and your partner! Having a baby whilst in training is never easy let alone having one during basic training lol.
      But I’ve watched your video and passed the information to my partner to query with his line manager too see if he can apply now or not for phase 3, we unfortunately couldn’t get it in phase 2 as his training was only 16 weeks long and they require it too be longer in order to qualify for a house so doing long distance currently, which is why housing for phase 3 is so important but you’re video was really helpful to bring to attention what forms we need to be sorting out etc

    I start MIOT soon and planning ahead for accommodation in the future. Me and my partner have been together years and live together but we're not married. The dependence aspect will be financial as we pay the mortgage together and I won't be able to afford to pay for two places. Ergo we kinda have to live together. I've heard some people say that LTERs are treated the same as married couples so category 1, but I've heard others say that they're not and that you basically get "whatever's left over". Anyone got any insight to this?

    • @JakeGchannel
      @JakeGchannel  3 месяца назад +1

      @@him050 It’s a good question and I’m going to be going down a similar road at the moment when I put my partners LTR in so I’m not sure what it consists of but apparently the main thing are a joint bank account and a photo dated a year or longer. Unfortunately I don’t have much more than this until I put the ticket into HR which I’m hopping to do in the next couple of days.
      In regards to being the same as Cat 1’s I’m not sure as the marriage thing really take precedence on everything. If it’s ’whatever’s left over’ then in theory that’s cat 5.

    • @him050
      @him050 3 месяца назад

      @@JakeGchannel thanks for the reply! Looks like we’ll nipping down the registry office to sign a bit of paper then! I understand families with kids getting precedence. But it’s not really with the times (which the RAF is so desperate to say that it is) that a couple who have been together a year and married for 6 months get priority over a non-married couple who have been together ten years. Both should be treated the same IMHO.
      Edit*
      Just read JSP 464, it is just the surplus you’re entitled to if you’re not married! They were going to make it the same with the new accommodation offer, but it was paused in March.

    • @JakeGchannel
      @JakeGchannel  3 месяца назад

      @@him050 if you have a child then you can use the birth certificate and that’s enough (as I put mine in today) obviously if you don’t have children is a little more difficult to do. Yeah it’s a difficult one as it’s an old tradition in terms of marriage but as marriages is getting less and less the RAF will start to adapt to it but probably not for a while.
      Oh right I see well let’s see what the outcome is if they decide to resume it.
