    Hi everyone,
    Not sure if any of you are interested but I've put some images on Shopify if anyone would like to check them out.
    I've put a link below to my Shopify page. It doesn't always for some reason display my new listed items on the site, so best thing for you to do would be click on catalogue and sort by new to old listings, this will bring up my newest listings.
    I'm not sure about the price on the canvas and other framed images, maybe one day I'll be able to afford my own professional printer and maybe be able to offer the photos at a lower price.
    These canvas and framed images are aimed at the US market, as the shipping cost to the UK would be way way to expensive.

    I love to see the mach looop in action. I taught in a school in the west desert of Utah where these F 35's practice a lot. Our school is very isolated with eleven students and the F 35 pilots often dive down on the school practicing bombing runs. It's amazing to see their noses pointed straight at you coming straight down on the school. Practicing or having a little fun giving us a show way out in the isolation of the desert makes an exciting day.

      Reminds me of a story my dad told me one time: It was about 5 years ago, and he was at an nfl game in Boston. It was halftime, and for whatever reason, everyone was cheering and going crazy, even though there was no performers/anyone doing anything on the field. My dad was pretty confused, and all of the sudden there was a massive object overhead that blocked out the sun. He thought he was going to die, it didn't even look like it was from earth, just a massive black, silent object coming to rain death on those below. turns out, a it was a b2 stealth bomber doing a fly over.

    I've been to a LOT of airshows, as well as having worked at 5 different airports in my lifetime, whether on the flightline or as a pilot or flight instructor. I have never heard a fighter or attack jet as loud as the F-35. Not a Phantom, Tomcat, Viper, Eagle, Hornet, Corsair II, Warthog, Tornado, Intruder, or Starfighter. The only jets on par with its noise level were a B-52, B-1, SR-71, and C-5A...took multiple loud engines to equal that noise level. I have been blessed to see a surprise, unannounced high speed flyby by a Lancer at full afterburner low off the deck of a civilian 10,000 foot runway with wings fully swept back and cleared for an unrestricted climb. The Blackbird I saw was on its last flight, between Beale to Wright-Patterson, with several photo passes and a full stop to be hangered for eternity in February of 1990. The monster engine on the F-35 puts out a couple thousand more pounds of thrust than the first Tomcat model did with both engines combined.

    i have always liked the F-35 because of it's looks, it's kind of like a baby Raptor, but now i not only see a beautifully crafted piece of military hardware - i see surely the most technically advanced fighter jet ever built and even today we are still learning of it's capabilities.

      Its capabilities will not be fully understood until the design is declassified. Not likely in our lifetime.
      Keep in mind...this plane was flying in like 2006. It's a 20 year air frame already. There's a reason we didn't build a lot of them. Our technological capabilities then vs. now are just...incomparable.

    I love how the high wingloading creates the amazing wingtip vortices. This jet definitely is very nimble, fast, and maneuverable. I believe it has a published speed of 1.6 Mach but I’m sure it’s capable of much higher speeds if needed. It would just damage the stealth coatings. What’s great though is the amount of thrust this jet has. I’ve always loved the F-16 but this fighter is quickly becoming a new favorite of mine.
    Great video footage. I’d love the opportunity to see this in person someday. I had the opportunity to watch the F-35B a few years back and was completely blown away by the performance.

    • @DarrenEdwardsAviation
      @DarrenEdwardsAviation  Год назад

      Thank you. Yes it's definitely growing on too.

    • @kiwidiesel
      @kiwidiesel Год назад +4

      Mach 1.6 is the top speed. speed limit is a result of power available and airframe drag. 1.6 is pretty good for single engine top speed when you consider the twin engine variants of jets tend to top out at Mach 2.4 . I think the F 16 is similar in speed limits.
      Look what the blackbird needed for propulsion to get to Mach 3.5
      The power required is exponential so twice the speed requires almost 4 times the power.
      The "stealth coating" isn't affected by speed, it's just paint and only really affected by temperature, which this jet can not go fast enough to worry about burning the paint off. The majority of the low radar cross section stuff being the material the jet is constructed of, carbon composites etc and the canopy is mirror tinted for similar anti radar properties.

      If they were flying that low, they were most likely Navy or Marine Corps jets out of China Lake. I worked in Boron and Ridgecrest for the Sheriff's Office for many years, and the flying style between the two services was much different, at least in the 70's and 80's when I was there. The Air Force pilots took off from Edwards at the prescribed angle, flew the prescribed distance off the end of the runway and then made the prescribed turn off the base. At China Lake NWC, the Navy and Marine Corps pilots would do a barrel roll off the end of the runway and then stand the jet on it's tail and go vertical. When patrolling the desert dirt roads, the Navy and Marine Corps pilots would sometimes try to "sneak up" on my patrol vehicle at sagebrush level. If I spotted them first and turned on my red lights, some would waggle their wings and turn on their landing lights to acknowledge being spotted. I saw some amazing skill at high speed in the desert......

      I saw one of these leaving an air show last summer. A lone F-35 made quite a slow pass over the town in the morning and it just sounded like the air got ripped apart.
      I saw a Typhoon, a Gripen and a legacy Hornet during the show and none of them compare to the sound of an F-35. Sadly the F-35s weren't scheduled to fly at all during the show but at least I got to see a glimpse of one.

      I'm not sure either emgee, but we don't know the
      exact speed of these planes, we don't know if they're going 690mph,
      or 800mph. At sea level, at benchmark barometric pressure,
      the speed is 741mph, some sources say 750+ mph,
      I think speed of sound is about 760. There is also a 'conical'
      vector whereby the sound is continuous, but not heard
      or directed everywhere,
      just where the geometry dictates.

      @@DarrenEdwardsAviation My Father was in command of ATC Miramar during the Top Gun days. He's 93 last week and has some pretty great stories in the military starting in 1948. We also lived at China Lake and between there and Edwards....watched some serious ordnance on Armed Forces Day. The Blue Angels were at Miramar last year and I was on base with Mom buying groceries when one of the BA F-18's did a slow turn over the parking lot at no more than 200 feet. We could see the pilot grinning.

      @@DarrenEdwardsAviation Thanks, that seems about right. Armed Forces Day at Edwards AFB in 67' was probably the most spectacular show I've seen. They sent up an F-9 Cougar Drone and then wheeled out an F-104 Starfighter with Sidewinders on the very short wingtips. The thing looked like a rocket. It shot the F-9 down at a distance of probably 7 miles from us, but I was young and the distances are probably skewed, could have been closer. They also had A-7 Corsairs strafing a couple lonely tanks in the distance with their 20mm Vulcans using tracers to spice up the show. When they dropped some heavy bombs out there it shook us to our souls. Great memories. Thanks for the great footage! I saw some f-35's at Miramar but not up close, just doing touch and goes.
