Now, many years later I have noticed some thing about myself; memory loss, depression, mood change, wanting to be alone. Maybe natural maybe not but I am glad I did not play in college. Did not let my son play football. I believe ultimately that, the NFL will be in trouble.

Back in the 70s little was known about the repercussions. I'm 68 now and my memory is terrible. I barely remember my football playing days. I don' sleep well, I have depression and anxiety, I isolate myself for days on end, never leaving the house. I'm not sure if I have CTE, but I'd be surprised if I don't.
I played football and lacrosse throughout my young age and until halfway through college. I was always known as a hard hitter. I am 26 years old now and I can see my anxiety getting worse and uncontrollable. I hope I can do things to help myself, but unfortunately the damage is irreversible

That said-the deniers like owner Jerry Jones point out that NFL players "live longer" than non-football playing peers. That's SUPER dishonest!! Most are African Americans from "The Hood." The white ones are from trailer parks. If they are millionaires and leave the ghetto they will not be shot like those who stay. They also are (somewhat) less likely to go to prison. As elite athletes, they are not obese and rarely smoke (retired players sometimes do have weight issues.) The valid comparison is with jocks who play major league baseball, where there are fewer concussions. MLB and NBA players have good longevity. The NHL, however, is somewhat like the NFL...concussions and CTE.

My husband is very scared, he played football from 2008-2012 and was a linebacker. We are going to the docter very soon. He is very athletic but sometimes siezes up and can''t move his legs or arms. He moves normally but in situations has panik attacks and can't move his legs or arms out of no where. We are very scared any advice helps.
I played football for years and knew a man by the name of DJ. We were on the canoneers. That was our team. DJ was our MVP. Major talented man. Friendly too. He carried our team and he had such a big future. But he would have a concussion maybe twice every season. And eventuslly the man who was our MVP was barely recognizable. He had the the behavior of a man in his 70s! He was 15-16. He was always out of school for concussions. He must of given up football because he began showing up to every class and one day they put him in special ed. I know because i was in special ed. (I have some serious mental illnesses). So it was crazy to see him end up in the special ed class i was in for years. No more girls, no more glory, no more touchdowns. Just tragedy. I just dropped out of playing division 2 college football during the pandemic. I’m studying biochemistry and wised up on bashing my brains to bits unfortunately but I’m hoping that I can help change how we can chemically restore the brains tau. I’ve had 2-4 concussions, all were very light concussions( I have very long arms and was coached by an ex-nfl player that taught us strictly form over tackling👏🏾) so I’m hoping with mental upkeep supplementing and research I can lead a healthy life.

Idk why but for the last week or so after a boxing match where the coach put me up against this adult player who was really good every hit he through on me had me seeing white. I'm pretty sure the next day I had a CSF leak which I have had twice do to concussions and so far 3 weeks later I have had a pressure head ache or tension headache and mild short term memory problems such as forgetting I already had plate out for my food or putting milk in the pantry instead of the fridge. I have had a history of playing football since I was 9 till I was and 11 for a team and my brother and I would always play tackle football without gear on. Now I'm 15 and the way my head feels I seriously think I could have early symptoms of CTE
That's scary man, im 17 and have had a few concussions while playing basketball. Started having memory loss, trouble sleeping and heightened stress, and social anxiety. Ended up quitting and started focusing on school more avoiding contact sports. Along with seeing a therapists to keep my stress down and keeping a healthy diet and lifestyle things have gotten better. Even though the damage is irreversible you can still take measures to treat it and how you treat it now will have the biggest effect long term. All is not lost man, keep yourself healthy and avoid hard contact sports if you can. Best of luck 💪

I box as an amateur and hearing about ho many football plauers have cte signs so early on is mental and how many concussions alot of them get, I am still yet to have a concussion a dont have any cte symptoms yet

Along as your smart with sparring and have solid defence you should be fine, I haven't noticed any effects yet

Amino acids for the brain help tremendously. I have several mental illnesses and I have been able to stabilize well with the Amino acids.

@@cliffbrowning84 Google CTE amongst soccer players. You're supposed to head the ball with the front part of your skull, not the middle, not the back..there is instances of head on collisions, but none that caused what American football does.

By studying the symptoms over the years of guys who died and had confirmed cases of CTE it can show likely signs among the living when they have similar abnormal symptoms.
