Austin Twiss anti inflammatory diet highly helps with cte and brain problems. I really believe it’s the fluid in the brain that causes cte to get so bad. When you have multiple concussions you brain swells and gets bruised and scarred and your body produces wayy more fluid in your brain which leads to pressure and strangulation of the brain

I myself suffered a concussion in 2006 when I got hit on my motorcycle. I was wearing a helmet but my head hit so hard that it was still enough impact to give me a concussion. It was the first concussion or head trauma I had ever got. I can tell you with all truth that a concussion is pure hell. Your emotions change rapidly and the pain in your head makes the top if your head feel like it is going to explode. It lasts for 45 days. In this 45 days you can and will get periods of rage and extreme depression. A single concussion takes 45 days to fully heal. Looking back I can only imagine what these football and NFL players go through with constant concussions that don't even heal. It's gotta be hell !!!

I've had a concussion. A big one. I was unconscious for at least 20 minutes. I regained consciousness as I was being loaded into an ambulance. The EMT asked me questions. I got the first few. The one that got me was, "Who is the president of the United States?" I couldn't answer it. I remember laughing because I couldn't answer it. How could I not be able to answer such an easy question? I got 25 stitches in my forehead, and my fiancee and friends took me home. That night was horrible. My fiancee had to wake me up every hour to ask me questions, per doctor's orders. Her whispers to me felt like explosions in my head. Twenty years later, I still do not remember anything about the accident. I know what these players went through. It is scary stuff.

In high school I played the entire game. Every snap, offense, defense, special teams. One time on a kickoff (us kicking) I hit this guy really hard. I had to ask a teammate if we were offense or defense. He looked at me like an idiot and said we are defense. It took a few plays before I knew what I was doing. We used to call it getting your bell rung. I am 44. I forget common words when talking to people in addition to other memory issues. I avoid people because I struggle with conversation. I love football but I regret playing.

What he is saying in a very bad manner, is that not everything is about money. Peoples lives and kids and families get destroyed by related mental issues. Maybe the families would prefer to have a father and being poor than being rich and fatherless. Young men and their parents should be properly informed of the risks. Same goes with boxing and potentially other sports. Losing your brain is not the same as having a bad knee. I don't think you should put a price to that.

I'm glad I found this vid Thomas. Played contact sports from 13-22 years old. My concussions usually consisted of seeing bright colors all over, highlighter green in particular. My 1st serious concussion was from a blind side, for the next few days in pads it was like being in the clouds. (it wasn't a bad feeling at the time, I felt careless.) as I got older I accumulated more concussions, the worst putting me in the hospital. I'm 28 now, i have no idea how many concussions I've had, but I'm suffering. I cannot recall names, I have to write everything down, my mental abilities seem to have halted or regressed. I don't see a bright future for myself but I hope those in their early stages of sports see this and recognize the dangers of concussions. I know there are others out there like me, your not alone. May god watch over each and everyone of you. -matt

Michael Craig I love the NFL but hate that it is becoming too violent a sport because of all the "improvements" and "enhancements" over the years. There are things that can be done to lessen the impact collisions, but in the end I think it's going to become a game of touch football. Every week, it seems, the collisions and injuries become more and more noticeable. You can't fully appreciate the power, speed and force of the collisions unless you're on the sidelines and witnessing them up close.

I'm a high school football player and I can relate to exactly everything he said. How it feels like your not choosing what you do or say but your body just does it for you. I don't plan on going to play in college and after this experience my entire outlook on football has changed. Instead of seeing big hits I see brain damage and now at this point it's hard for me to look at the game the same way.

I've had a concussion so much worse than what he is describing. I was hit in the head with a steel support pole at my old job. I woke up and started trying to walk to central control. As I was walking I completely lost my sight and my hearing and started throwing up. Then I couldn't tell which way was up and I started losing feeling and control of my body so I went on to my hands and knees for a few minutes. I wanted to call for help on the radio but I couldn't make words in my head. I started crawling and made it to an opening where my boss saw me and took me to the hospital. Luckily I made a full recovery (after a few weeks). I've never experienced anything more intense in my life and probably never will until I die. And I suspect dying might feel a lot like what happened to me.

I think he might have been playing it up a bit as a figure of speech when he said stars. If he did, and I am not calling him a liar either especially due to the nature of the injury itself and its' symptoms. Forgetting things, in other words. But if he DID see stars it might be a subconscious thing because he grew up watching cartoons like the rest of us and knows that getting your shit kicked in often leads to "stars" over the characters' head. So he gets knocked into this subconscious space and then it's maybe like dreaming, but not really. Black spots seems like the more common thing, or "fuzzies" or whatever, that actually seems like what would actually happen. But I have no idea. Only way to know I guess is to get one which I don't intend to do anytime soon.

I've had 3 concussions where all 3 resulted in loss of consciousness. First one was in high-school football practice. Woke up seeing balck floating specs and I couldn't see what I was looking at... just the periphery. Trainer had me breath into a paper bag. He said I had an oxygen imbalance in the brain!! Next concussion was when I got mugged by 3 guys and after I got sucker-punched from behind and hit the ground and the last thing I saw was a boot coming at my face... the final concussion was in a car accident. In that accident I had broken my hip, arm, knee cap and fractured my skull. I remember waking up in the emergency room... the nurse was about to sit me upright so they could stitch up my scalp and I heard a male voice say "get that pan ready, he's had a concussion and will vomit" and sure enough as I came upward I hurled all over the nurse! Poor nurse... I blacked out and woke up in x-ray where they were x-raying my hip... To this day, I suffer black-outs, dizziness and severe headaches that start at the base of skull and end up in the top or front of my head and have violent mood swings. It's been tough holding onto jobs... when employers just don't know who's going to show up for work today in my body and fellow employees fearing if I'm going to explode in a fit of rage. Lost many jobs because of this. Needless to say... I forbid my son play tackle football. Not worth it.

+Karim S. O. Akele I think you should educate yourself more on the TBI/CTE debate. Problem is players are only now becoming aware of the risks they're taking --many are still in the dark/denial. For decades the NFL published scientific literature in reputable journals stating head injuries aren't a problem; a player could get knocked out and return to a game without problem; there is no long term dangers in repeated concussions; etc. The NFL knew about the long term effects of continuous head trauma for decades and not only suppressed it, but outright lied to the players, public and medical community. 78% of pro-players have stated they don't trust their team doctors. If you think players are aware of the risk they're taking you are both greatly deceived and a major part of the problem. The NFL needs fans that not only care about the game but athletes as well --not those who enjoy players smashing their heads against each other until they go brain dead. In conclusion, I didn't mean to insult you but my hope is that you would open your eyes and become part of the solution. Football is a great sport, I would hate it to go away because all fans care about is blood.

I've had a terrible concussion when I was about 13.
I was playing Junior Varsity Soccer and I remember my team's goalkeeper punted the ball up high into our opponent's half. As the ball was dropping, I jumped attempting to get a touch on the ball with my head and I did. I didn't know what was behind me when I jumped, but all I tried doing was to header the ball further up field. I remember getting a slight touch on the ball at the peak of my jump, but as soon as the ball scraped the top of my head, 2 defenders out of the blue came from behind me also challenging for the ball. They instantaneously bumped into me mid air making me lose total control of my balance and coordination and I ended up tipping over with my head falling backwards and slamming the turf. The play went on with nobody even noticing. As soon as I opened my eyes while I was laid out, I saw fucking stars everywhere like cartoons like that football player was talking about. My ears were ringing so fucking hard like the highest pitch noise ever and the sky was literally rotating around my head. It was really like I was taken out of my body. I tried yelling but all what came out was a soft "aaaa". The agony lasted for about 45 seconds and then started getting better but I had to tell my coach to sub me out since no one even saw what happened to me. I never even knew it was a concussion until I was about 18 and got into boxing lol. I probably won't get into combat just cuz that fucking shit was the scariest feeling ever. It scares more than it hurts and it makes me shiver even thinking about it.

I had a childhood concussion from a bicycle accident. The out of body experience described was true in my case. I was riding through a dirt lot, I hit a ditch and experienced the out-of-body sensation of flying through the air. The next conscious memory I had was walking my bike home, I don’t know how much time later. My two brothers were with me. My face was heavily scraped up. As far as I know, I recovered fully. But it’s also impossible to say if the incident has affected me permanently into adulthood in any way. I do have depression and mental health issues. Who knows.

I remember the final moments before headbutting with my classmate accidentaly, then i felt like i flew like 3 meters in the air landing on my back, hearing others talk with a bit of echo, feeling nauseous and feeling this out of body thing. No one ever came out of a game or did not play because of getting their bell rung. I am happy to see things change. Knowing what I know today I would have never played. Apparently during the 2-3 hours i kept asking people i dont know where i am, what am i doing etc. had a friend who sustained a similar injury back in 2021 and he kept asking me similar questions. I played safety in high school (2000-2004) and I've had a few concussions (possibly more). Sometimes I'd get hurt worse than the guy I was hitting. It's crazy how, back then, they'd tell you to sit out a few possessions and go back in if you felt like you could (and I did more often than not). I wish we had concussion protocols like they have now at all levels of the game.

+Ryder Washington Head injuries are more lethal but other injuries can cripple/disable you early in life. I read an ESPN article about a LB for the Bucaneers who played during the 90's. Don't recall his name, but if he didn't lay in one specific position, he would be in constant pain. Money is a huge motivator but quality of life must be taken into consideration, especially if a player has kids.

Depends on which Ryan (my first name) you ask. If you'd asked me that my senior year of high school or while I played a few years of minor league football...definitely worth it. Most things accomplished in life do not come without sacrifice. Movie stars sacrifice privacy, athletes their health, pilots time with family, etc. Boils down to how much you want it and whether or not you can handle or accept the risk/sacrifice.

While I've never had any of my concussions diagnosed, I know I've had at least 2. I have Cerebral Palsy, so my balance sucks, and I fell a lot as a kid. I've fallen down stairs multiple times, fallen on my head, and got hit on the head with a golf club once. I just remember seeing colours and feeling like I was hungover afterward. It's not a fun experience and I genuinely don't know many concussions I've had or how it has affected me. I won't go into detail but always remember to get checked after head injuries. I'm just surprised none of the adults in my life were more insistent on these things getting checked out. It actually got to the point where it happened so often that my mum would just laugh it off. I know it was probably to make me feel better but it was really stupid on her part. I genuinely didn't know that concussions were dangerous until I got into MMA (as a fan) and found out about CTE.

But if you ever decide to intentionally put your brain through a career like this, always think of the fact how great of a gift your senses and perceptions of the world are and how each of these tons-of-force-in-a-matter-of-milliseconds hits has a potential to diminish them and thus, while you work on toughing it out for the sake of your coach or your team or whoever, technically robs you out of your own self...

Next thing I knew I was face down on the turf after whistle had blown, tried to get up and fell back over. Could barely walk, couldn't see, felt like I was walking in thick mud. Had a severe concussion, out 3 weeks, my reaction time went from .3 seconds to almost .9 seconds.

Muscle memory seems to work after a concussion.. so people think you are functioning ok-ish but driving, vision, sound barriers, thinking, listening, emotional, digestion and so much more is messed for months or years. To all my fellow suffers you are not well and it is up to you to share your story so they can’t say “your fine”

Can I call this a mind block? When my mom kicked my ear side of head, I had a concussion for literally few seconds, my head pained a lot. It was crazy but it vanished immediately.

I get cluster headaches from wrestaling my freshmen year in 2009. Remember getting taking down. Head hits off the matt. Getting up. Like i was underwater for a long time and everything was all foggy and wavy. Remember the ref asking do I need time. Now I still get head pains. Makes you want to end it.

About 5 yrs back got a concussion from getting knocked out by our one horse. I don't remember getting up and walking to the house which was 300 ft away but I did. I was trying to remember something and I knew something was wrong but could not figure it out. My head hurts so bad.How these players get concussions more than one time and go on I don't know.

I have childhood CTE from abuse and football both. As a security guard I was attacked by 5 guys. They were not able to take me out, I might have killed a couple of them because two abulances left very slow that night. Three or four went away from the scene on stretchers. I do not know how I did it. It was out of body, my brain/body was fighting without me in control. This terrifies me. What am I? I have never had a friend. Law school was overwhelmingly difficult. My parents suggested I go there to be humiliated and I was.

Same here, I know how it feels like to have a concussion,
Here's my story: At about the age of seven, I was going to a birthday party in a hotel. So, I was playing with the other kids at the pool inside the hotel. I was running around then suddenly, I slipped and hit my head really hard. EVERYTHING went all blury, I was just laying on the floor, sittin tgere and no one ever bothered to help me. Ever since that happend, I began to have slurred speech, poor balance, and I vecame very forgetful. 4 years later, this didn't happen too long ago, I went back to the sane hotel from before, I accidentally dropped something. I ran too fast and hit another concussion. I was really light headed and dizzy. Everything was going dark. After I kept saying "What just happened?" And "I don't remember" my whole family just didn't beileve me. Then afterwards I passed out. I don't exactly remember what happend after that .
Nowdays, I'm a very forgetful, weird and clumsy girl. I never told ANYONE about this but it's finally out. I still have my concussion. Anyway, thanks for reading this.

My worst concussion was from a light hit from my blindside that knock me out b4. Hit the ground.. Probably the best way to describe the feeling would b like television 📺 static firing through ur body I woke up and remember a neurologist rubbing a piece of tissue across my arm and it felt like a knife 🔪 splitting it open... Scary stuff
