My favourite discovery was the coolala defender light that prevents the monster under the bed. I got basegame & parenthood together so always used the parenthood nightlight until someone pointed out the basegame version (I still usually go back to the parenthood one but its nice to have options). No more kids waking up the whole family in the middle of the night because they are too scared to sleep.
UGH, that monster! The Coolala Defender Light is my favorite thing in any game I play with kids, especially because the monster comes up far, far too often. My poor kids got woken up four times in a night once and were just exhausted the next day.
Another thing: I find that my Sims often drink part of a pot of coffee and don't finish it, so what I do now is have them grab a drink but not drink it and drag the extra coffee cups into the fridge. This is particularly good when your sim does not have simoleons to throw away
The easiest way to get a cow plant is if you have the City Living pack. The Spice Festival has a number of plants that you can harvest and you can almost always get a cow plant berry from selecting “harvest all”. You don’t even need gardening skill
That's also the only way I've ever found a UFO fruit. It's super rare, I've only found two so far, but once one of my Sims had it, I just kept inviting people to his house and gifting them UFO fruit. I probably need to play with the rockets more.
The easiest base game way to get cowplant berry without spending simoleons is to go into build mode in a park (not visiting with a sim). You have infinite funds, and you can literally place dozens of seed packets around the park. Then you can go visit with your sim, and they can open the seed packets at the park. Super easy and free. No cheats/mods/packs required.
Also the bonsai bush is a great way to learn gardening skill before you can fertilise plants at skill level 3. If you have Seasons, your sims will also learn flower arranging as well as gardening while trimming the overgrowth and shaping the bonsai
curiously enough, i think sims learn flower arranging from it regardless of whether you have seasons or not. you can't do anything with the skill ofc but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
About the last storage chest: there’s a mod called under counter storage that utilizes that feature for kitchen appliances and it’s pretty easy to mod new objects to also be storeable
That's pretty neat! I'll definitely have to check that out. Also, just simply to put it out there, I found out that if you've got the Snowy Escape EP, the counters that come with the pack also have storage space. It makes for a pretty cool aesthetic with the exposed shelves!
That's the only trashcan I use lol. I've been delving more into base game items in my builds lately, because there are many things that get overlooked and are fantastic
The "Let There Be Light! Laser Show" is from Digital Deluxe (which costs an additional amount of $15 when bought together with the base game), so it's not a standard base game item.
If you're playing on a computer, you should be able to install Sims4Studio and find the bonus items in the catalogue there, even if you only have the regular base game version. Then you can just save the packages and put them into your mods folder
08:26 Ok, that's just very practical! In other words, we can add chest in the crafting rooms, effectively clearing out the Sims personal inventories. Great thinking right there. :)
I’m already aware of that trash can, the reason I don’t use it a lot is because it’s only available in one color swatch and it won’t match all the kitchens/rooms I built. Edit: if only they have more (preferably darker) color swatches, I'd definitely use it a lot more
I love the Nanocan! It really comes in handy when you're doing something like the 100 Baby Challenge or a Legacy Challenge, where you have a lot of sims in your household.
The boxes to put things in are my favorite overlooked items in the game. And with (i think) eco lifestyle the cardboard boxes (maybe added to base game idk) with little sorting images and the ability to name them are the absolute best!
i've played the sims 4 purely base game for a month and a couple of weeks before buying any expansion, so this was nice to see! bc base game isn't as boring as everyone thinks imo. :') another thing I never knew about (until i watched a Deli LP) was the elements chart! i had no idea that collected elements could be displayed there! it was mindblowing to me lol.
If you ever decide to get a packs, (assuming you haven't already) the number one expansion pack I recommend is seasons. So much gameplay, so much fun, so worth it. Seasons is honestly the perfect expansion.
ive been playing base game for like 5 months now and i still find it fun lol. As soon as I get a job though im buying the Get to Work pack and a few others that i want
When I first started playing The Sims 4, I used most of these 😂 one of my sims was an astronaut, and her husband was a tech guru. They had a rocket ship in their backyard and a cupcake factory in their kitchen. I never had time to cook for their three kids, and I didn’t know how to age up kids into teens, so they lived off of cupcakes.
I thought the laser light show thing was only available if you purchase the upgraded version of the base game. You get the tiki bar and the animal hats eith that version. In just the regular base game they are not available.
Except when my sims keep putting books away in the chests instead of putting them back on the bookshelf. I always have to lock the chest away in its own little room with no doors, or manually drag all the books from the chest inventory to the bookcase inventory myself.
Patchy the scarecrow that comes with seasons is a must-have for gardening. If you talk to him enough, your sim unlocks the scarecrow outfit, he will come to life and tend your garden, and you can ask him for seeds everyday, you can get the magic bean seeds or cowberries or rare plant seeds and ask him for gardening tips to get your sim focused.
I find the easiest way to find a cow plant berry is to pick the harvestables at the festivals in San Myshuno. I don't remember if it is the Spice Festival or the Romance Festival.
Thankfully I read the comments first because that is what I was going to comment. When I first stumbled upon that, I was giddy with glee. I had just started a new save and in my previous game I went through the tedious way of gardening and grafting lol. It was certainly a nice surprise to fin it at a festival
you can also find the cowberry and the grown cowplant in the debug build&buy! I mean I guess it is cheating but should be helpful for those who only plays with base game
@@ScaraGucci I don't even have to purposely let them die. My sims just go out for the day and return home to a dead cowplant. And yes I WAS making sure the cowplant was fed, but they always die.

I had no idea about the cow plant giving you time on your life! Definitely gonna have to try that. I’ve had the game since day one lmao, I love that I’m always learning new things about this game.
I add a fireplace to each room as soon as I can. It gives an auto boost and never overheats the Sims even in the middle of a heat wave in the desert. Also, all creative Sims should have at least one lump of clay from the children's toy section for instant creativity.
Just ran across your videos yesterday by accident. I'm really appreciating them because I'm currently challenging myself to do everything the game has to offer, and these videos definitely help to give me ideas. I have them playing passively in the background as I work and am going through your whole library.
I love, love, LOVE your guides! They are short and to the point, and give great play ideas for when I get bored, or just because they are so creative. Thanks!
I personally love the addition of the cupcake factory, but as mentioned, it is huge. Normally when building I'd literally just place it outside and have sims make the cupcakes outside. Usually in the backyard and out of direct view, but recently I discovered a mod by Ravasheen that lets you place a cupcake factory replacement object on any surface, and I've been using that ever since. Maybe ea could still think about making an alternative to the cupcake factory, though. It would definitely be more preferable as not all people use or want to use mods in their gameplay.
"The Sims 4 Base Game: no, we're not here to bash it" Oh, three seconds into the video, and I already like you. Why does everyone hate on the Sims 4 so much, particularly people with entire channels devoted to it. If they hate it so much, why not go play Sims 3? It still works just fine.
The Eco Lifestyles sticker storage box is better than the ornate beauty, firstly because you can pick it up and put it in your sim's inventory (or they can), and secondly, because if you want to organise your collections in different boxes, the ornate beauty doesn't do that, everything will be in every ornate beauty on the lot, but the sticker storage box only has what you put in each box. You can also label the sticker storage boxes. So if I want my collection of frogs in one box, I label it "Frogs", and fill it up. Next box I might want to put all of my crystals in, I can label that one "Crystals" and put all the crystals in it, and the frogs won't be in that box! I usually have one for gardening, and another for fish, so that when I fertilise my garden, I can just grab the item I want to use to fertilise out of the box, and not have to scroll through the list of what I have in my inventory (put everything in boxes)... Also, sometimes if I'm a bit scattered, I'll have a box of plants that have been planted, and a box of plants that are waiting to be planted, so it's easier when I go to do it (also stops you accidentally using them in cooking)
Tip: Do not put skill items in the boxes, even if the box is in your inventory, you will have to place the box in the world to open it, then you can access what's in the box... If all your skill items are in there, you won't be able to easily access them. Keep them in your inventory.
the stories from the rocket ship are actually quite fun if you take the time to read them, and my sim got a 3 eyed blue slug that actually blinks and moves around a bit!
I knew about all of these except for the light show thing! That's so cool. I've always wanted to play the sims 4 but couldn't afford to buy it, now that it's free I'm so happy. I then saw there is so much content to buy for the game,e that made it seem the base game isn't fun, until I started exploring stuff lol. Thanks for this vid😊
I have NEVER heard of that tree stump that you put the colorful magic beans on. How cool. Why have I never heard of this? and it looks like it's base game. I'm low-key pissed that know one have ever mentioned this before. Thanks for the vid.

Love these! For anyone wondering the chests are under storage and miscellaneous I think. My base game love is the nightlight that keeps away the monsters for kids! I know that's not all that exciting but it saves me so much annoyance haha
I didn't know the nightlight kept kids from having issues with the monsters under their bed. In my most recent game, i had one sim unable to sleep because all 3 kids would come down at different times independently and complain about monsters. By the time one had the monster sprayed and was put back to bed, the next kid would be up.
@@catelynh1020 yeah you gotta use that one that had the little blobby rabbit type figure on it. It says in the description that it's a protector. It's a wall light. The nightlights from parenthood help with avoiding nightmares which is good for toddlers
You can't sell cupcakes in the base game. It's also worth noting that all chests on a lot share one inventory (like an ender chest). You can't put down multiple chests and store different stuff in each of them, so for organization purposes they only go so far as getting the random stuff out of your sim's inventory. That's still pretty useful, though.
Couple of small notes on the objects: The digitalistic sketchpad can be upgraded for faster sketching. Not sure if it makes it faster than the easel (and I know some of the more expensive easels from the artist career seem to do more for the quality of the work), but it's a neat touch If people woohoo in the rocket ship and there is a computer on the lot, another sim can "listen to Space woohoo". It doesn't achieve anything as far as I can tell, but seeing that option for the first time was hilarious! I made a tiny room with the 6 magic beans in it, which is much cheaper and much more reliable way to get those rather than the lottery of the random seed packets. I actually hate the random seed packets idea so ended up making rooms for each level of plantable so I can avoid that annoying faff...
I was so excited they put the ICYA chests in Discover University, since I wanted to clean out my inventories - I didn't realize till much later the chests in the base game did the same thing!
Omg the chest fact? I always wished for something like this in the sims, and damn, I had no idea that it’s already there! Where were you 3 years ago or so 😂
I had no idea about the trashcan, never bought it because it was so expensive. Also didn't realize you could sell cupcakes. I have a chef that just found a new career once he maxes out.
the easiest way to get the cowplant imo in basegame was to go in the fishing spot in the parc of the middle of the desert neighborhood (oasis springs?) i always got em there
I completely agree! Children and teenagers need more things to do. Off the top of my head I would say things like scouts (seasons) and drama club (get famous) are great. I would also actively pursue friendships and crushes. If you have Get Together then something as simple as a homework club can provide a great social outing for the things you need to get done, and basically everything the Parenthood game pack has to offer is a big win for children and teenagers.
Perfect Patio's draw is for patios as the name says, not simply the hottubs...it has a BUNCH of nice flooring that can work in and outside your house. Another under used object would be the debug lights, yes you need the cheat console" but if you want really bright lights they're very helpful
I just stumbled on your vid whilst browsing my normal vids and it proved to be both entertaining and informative - thanks for sharing and I'm now subscribed to your channel
Hey thanks :D this was really helpful for me. I used to only play bae game and never found this out. Now I have get together and it's still really helpful
I also wanted to add you can upgrade the digital sketchpad and made it draw super fast, so if you are doing the freelance career its sometimes easier and faster to just create a bunch of sketches for the client rather than edit them

The digitalistic sketchpad can be upgraded for faster sketching. Not sure if it makes it faster than the easel (and I know some of the more expensive easels from the artist career seem to do more for the quality of the work), but it's a neat touch
If people woohoo in the rocket ship and there is a computer on the lot, another sim can "listen to Space woohoo".
If you have cottage living, you can find the cowplant in one of the shops. But I've only seen it there once, so it's probably rare.
Thank you for the refresher of some objects/items I forgot about
did not know about that trachcan/atm thing.... i placed 6 around my house as soon as he told me about what they do!
Very helpful thank you! It’s always nice to explore some new items you e never used before!
Completely agree :) It opens up so much gameplay! Thanks for the nice comment always Katarina!
I was so excited they put the ICYA chests in Discover University, since I wanted to clean out my inventories - I didn't realize till much later the chests in the base game did the same thing!
You’re amazing and I don’t think you get enough credit ❤
Awe shucks thank you Rosalie!
I had no idea about the digital sketchpad! That's so cool!
Thank you for this video, I played the base game for so long before I bought any packs.
The paint from reference tip with the sketch pad is great! Thanks!
I actually didn’t know about 8 of these and I’m super excited to try some of these out!!! Thanks!!
Omg the chest fact? I always wished for something like this in the sims, and damn, I had no idea that it’s already there!
Where were you 3 years ago or so 😂
for the cowplant ... i get the seeds rather frequently when harvesting the plants at the spice festival
Had no idea about the digital sketch pad or the factory! Very helpful video thank you
I had no idea about the trashcan, never bought it because it was so expensive. Also didn't realize you could sell cupcakes. I have a chef that just found a new career once he maxes out.
Reason I never use cowplants is because honestly 12 hours is too short. And mine always end up dead because I forget to feed them
I'd love to see you do that with every expansion/game/stuff (not talking about kits)
I have a few other vids with this theme out there :). I'll eventually get through all of the expansion and game packs. I'm not sure about stuff packs!
Me who has no expansion packs and relies on modding and cc: *Yes. YES. FEEL MY WRATH!!!
The hot tub was honestly one of the first things I started using when I began playing and had no packs except for Cats and Dogs.
love the plantsim one!
the easiest way to get the cowplant imo in basegame was to go in the fishing spot in the parc of the middle of the desert neighborhood (oasis springs?) i always got em there
Mindblown!! Plant sim was back this whole time?!!
The light show also has mood benefits with kids and toddlers, at the least.
I just found your channel and I'm binge watching. *gets inspired mood buff*
Awe shucks thanks duende! This is kind of you to say!
Perfect Patio's draw is for patios as the name says, not simply the hottubs...it has a BUNCH of nice flooring that can work in and outside your house. Another under used object would be the debug lights, yes you need the cheat console" but if you want really bright lights they're very helpful
I just stumbled on your vid whilst browsing my normal vids and it proved to be both entertaining and informative - thanks for sharing and I'm now subscribed to your channel
i didn’t realize the camera was functional!!! thank you great video !! 💓💓
Hey thanks :D this was really helpful for me. I used to only play bae game and never found this out. Now I have get together and it's still really helpful
I had no clue about the boxes! Wow!
This was great. I didn't know about some of this.
You can find the cowplant berry at the spice festival when doing harvest all. Or in base game at the lake in the desert bloom park
I now plan to use some of these in my gameplay. Thanks for this guide
I always wondered how to properly turn your sim into a PlantSim and what the features were.. Thx for the awesome video!
Thanks for the video you've given me some great ideas I was completely unaware of
1:53 actually I bought a cow plant when shopping for groceries
Ah thank you for this compilation, legend!!
I got the base game I never seen that laser party light definitely gonna check it out ill check out that box or chest to
Omg these are so cool!! I didn't know there was digital art!
I always overlooked the chest boxes because I thought they were purely decor
Ok, I had never even seen some of these objects. Now I want to play Sims 4 haha, Awesome video!
I also wanted to add you can upgrade the digital sketchpad and made it draw super fast, so if you are doing the freelance career its sometimes easier and faster to just create a bunch of sketches for the client rather than edit them
I've never needed a cupcake factory so badly
There is a cc cupcake mixer override, turning it into a (small!) mixer. Would highly recommend! It's by: Sixam CC
