The Ultra Bond system works very well and the resins are available in different viscosity depending on chip or crack.. we no longer so repairs, we replace only and farm out the repairs to a local ultra bond repair system company. however, when we did repair, we used this system, worked good and the tech support is amazing.
i use his resin and his crackmaster tool and they work awesome!! no one in my town fixes cracks it seems that i am the only one here in the southern border of Texas to do so..lol
Never thought the end results would be so good. I couldn't find the crack after it was repaired. Last week I went to an Ultra Bond dealer in my country to fix a similar crack. The repair process was pretty similar but sadly, the results where nothing alike. The crack is still visible and the drilled hole was not filled with resin.
"The crack is still visible and the drilled hole was not filled with resin." So... they added a drill hole to your windshield crack and they got paid??
Best windshield repair I have ever seen! Some say it's easier to change the windshield however your repair method avoids all the scuffing and scratching to the surrounding bodywork that a windshield change entails. Not to mention keeping a factory quality fit, especially given some of the less skilled fitters out there. Excellent work. Do you distribute in the UK?
Hey I know this post is old, I have a chip with 3 half inch cracks coming off, but the first time I tried to inject resign I didn't get it down in the cracks good and an told no more resign can go down in it now? Well can I very carefully drill out the resign I just put in, and create a spot to fill the cracks that I'm not reaching?
The inner bridge is for sliding and injecting crack resin from the surface. Crack resin is a different resin than the resin in the tool at the point. the tool on the inside is used to pry open the crack so the crack resin will fit into the crack.
That's a very nicely done repair. The resins themselves seem to be quite affordable as well. Not so much the tools. They cost more then safe-light bringing out a new windshield. What's the chance of this working on the cheaper 'consumer' injectors (I assume I'd have to use the low viscosity resin and that the repair itself isn't going to last long, then again, it's a $500 car, you can say that for the rest of it).
Thank you. We sell tools for professionals who are making a living repairing windshields. They are high quality heavy duty tools. You are correct- low viscosity will not last long in a crack. It will come off of the PVB and cannot withstand the installation stress.
Thank you for your comments. The dynamics of windshields in the 50s are a far cry from the dynamics of today's windshields. In the 50s they were gasket-set, not glued to the vehicle and therefore had no mechanical stress and they were twice as thick. Because they were not glued to the vehicle there was no installtion stress for the resin to hold. Today's windshield are half as thick with a defect around the perimeter - a tension bulge of stress two inches wide that causes this area to fracture 5 times easier than the rest of the windshield. The installation stress causes this fracture to crack out 8-12 inches immediately called the edge crack which is the causes of 80% of replacements today. The installation stress causes the crack to gap at the edge and then the 3,000 psi PVB bond to the glass pulls the crack back together and stops the crack when that stress becomes greater than the installion stress. Because you have a gap and installation stress at the edge area and no gap and the PVB bond at the other end it requires different resin properties at the edge than at the point. What was patented was the METHOD of using multiple resins to match the different stresses on the crack and the resin properties to accomplish that. Your reference to taking 45 seconds would mean you are dropping a water thin resin by capillary action into the crack which would never hold-up on today's windshields because water thin resins suffer from shrinkage and surface tension both of which would cause the repair to fail the requirements of the Repair of Laminated Auto Glass Standard. We use thick structural adhesives to bond the windshield back to new glass strength. See the website links on our website home page showing our process passing the same federal tests as a new windshield, holding up in a rollover crash and Ultra Bond resin was used by State Farm in a class action lawsuit challenging windshield repair to prove that windshield repair could restore to pre-loss condition.

If it is dust or dirt that you can see and is packed in the crack - there is no way to get it out. Chemical contamination can be neutralized by our Xtra-Bond and X-Phobic primers.
Thank you for your comments Tom. We have a number of methods that use less tools. The three injector method is for points that are very tight. The method I personally use most often is our meet-in-the-middle method which uses two tools. We also have the two-step method which uses one injector and a crack -opener. The resins we use are structural adhesives which is why we have to open the crack and inject it in. Our method stays on the PVB which is very important for safety reasons and our bond is as strong as new glass. That is why State Farm used Ultra Bond resin in a lawsuit to prove that windshield repair restored to pre-loss condition. You can read the Supreme Court Ruling and tests on our website.

Unfortunately those are not experts you are dealing with if they cannot repair a crack. Repairing a crack is much easier than replacing the windshield and the technology has been available for over 20 years. They may be telling you that because they will make more money replacing it. I would find another shop that is honest.
Do you have anyone available in NC area? Cause your repair kit is awesome and in fact, i don't even see any crack line after you put the resin (the first step). amazing job you have!
There is a hairline left at one angle called the head-on angle. It is virtually invisible from the profile of the crack. I will search to see if we have a technician in your area. What is the city you live in and the area code of your phone number?
What is the physical limit regarding the length of crack that can be fixed? I have a windscreen with a long crack perhaps as much as 36 in but it is in an area which has no impact on visibility
@@MichaelMosesHammer We have primers for minor dirt but packed in dirt cannot be removed. Minor dirt, dust and pollen become part of the bond with our resins which have couplng agents and acids to disapate minor moisture.
What's the procedure for removing resin from the injector to put a different viscosity resin in? What's the shelf life of the resins? Also, is there an Ultra Bond repair shop in the Phoenix, Az area?
To empty the injector turn the piston down to the bottom. Then turn the piston back up and refill by placing the resin bottle tip into the cylinder o-ring hole and squeeze. We have 14 in Arizona. What is the area code of your phone number?
