I have heard Voctave was good for while, but never got around to checking them out. Thank you for this reaction. I definitely need to watch more of their videos.
Their Disney Love Medley with Kirstin from Pentatonix is GREAT. I also recommend Peace on Earth for a very soulful experience, or if you're into just raw clean and difficult musical talent I'd check out O Come All Ye Faithful. But honestly every single song they've produced is absolutely the best of the best in vocal music
I suddenly had a flash back when they got to Jaws. My fx teacher truly opened my eyes to how powerful musical scores are when building mood or introducing characters. And that the most brilliant ones are just a few notes. 2 notes and you have an iconic villain in Jaws. One and you've got the Psycho scene.
All of Voctave's Disney stuff is great - Disney Love Medley (featuring Kirstin Maldonado of Pentatonix), Disney Princess Medley, Disney Showstoppers are just a few!
They're all great singers and collectively they're an amazing ensemble, but yeah I'm not surprised it was Kate Lott (high soprano, blonde, far left) that completely blew your mind. She's next-level.

Well, this is a new one! It's usually the Pentaholics, Home Fries, and other fans of a cappella groups begging the reactors to wear headphones, because we know what they're missing! It's very nice to hear a reactor advising viewers to use them, for a change. Jase, you're a joy to watch, because you really appreciate what you hear. And that first time you paused (at 2:06) and said, "Hold on, I wasn't prepared"? That's what we call the Kate Lott effect. NOBODY is prepared for first hearing Kate.
My first exposure was the Disney Love Medley, having been sucked into the gravity well of Voctave by their guesting of Kirsten from Pentatonix, and for me it was the build-up at the end. It's fun watching as "Go the Distance" comes towards its end and the chorus is in a crescendo, and then pops in Kate with what I believe is one of her highest notes to just push the whole group over the top and literally blow your mind. Still gives me goosebumps.
...the power of a first soprano in full voice... Did love the classic & iconic movie clips, just enough to remind you of the feelings you had watching it for the first time.
As amazing is this medley is, it's actually one of their less impressive pieces. "O Come, All Ye Faithful" is one of their best, and really shows off their honestly perfect voices.
Kate Lott opened her mouth and Jase's brain melted. :D Next one could be "Mary Did You Know" with the dude who wrote the song, Mark Lowry. If you want to hear how precise Kate is check that one out!

They are the best of the best.
Great transitions. Goosebumps every time. If you want another group somewhat similar to this to listen to, try Voces8: Lux Aeterna. It's from Edward Elgar's Enigma 9th movement. You've probably heard it at a funeral(s) if you've been to one. But, what I still can't tell at the end is if the group sounds like the organ or if the organ is softly playing on the last chord. You will get goosebumps if you have been enjoying these talented vocal groups.
I believe Voctave is based in Orlando. A lot of them are currently members of Voices of Liberty, which performs in Epcot. If you really want your mind blown, listen to O come all ye faithful. You wont regret it.
