  • The best way to keep ticks off of you is to use THIS tip! Ticks cause lyme disease (and other harmful diseases) so it's important to prevent them from biting your skin in the first place. Behold - Permethrin! Permethrin is a fabric insect repellent treatment that can be sprayed on your hiking boots, clothing, tents, sleeping bags, etc. to prevent ticks! It is a MUST do treatment before you go camping, hiking, hunting, or any other outdoor activities. It lasts 6 weeks or 6 washes and repels ticks, mosquitos and other harmful critters! After treating your gear, you'll want to also protect your skin from ticks and mosquitos with picaridan. It is safer than deet and does a great job of repelling bugs. Hope this video is helpful and keeps you tick free!

    Top notch info here! Sawyer is a great brand but I get my Permethrin in concentrated form from a farm store and mix my own. A bottle of concentrate goes a l-o-n-g way. I spray my hat, camo gloves and the inside of my portable blind also.

    The product works GREAT. Just an FYI, I contracted Lyme disease last spring in PA either trout fishing or turkey hunting. The black legged tick nymph is only the size of a poppy seed. I never found a tick on me or a bite sight. They like dark, moist and hairy places. In other words, your most private places need checked when you come in from the field. Stay safe everyone.

    My brother in law is a land surveyor and they are issued permethrin. The stuff they're given goes in the washing machine. So when they're washing their work clothes, put some in (not sure how much) and it's good for a few washing cycles so they dont have to use it every time they wash. We use it on our woods clothes too

    I also treat my boots. I think it works better on cordura nylon better than leather. I usually treat both. US military has been using this for a very long time. They test, we benefit.

      Cheers for this, I've been looking for "do you need prescription for permethrin?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Penameron Cerebral Preeminence - (search on google ) ? It is a good one off guide for kissing goodbye to the itching pain of your scabies minus the hard work. Ive heard some decent things about it and my mate got excellent success with it.

  • @zebmartin995
    @zebmartin995 4 года назад +1

    The stuff is a neurotoxin. That's why you wear it on your outer layers, not against your skin. To each his/her own. Permethrin was developed by the military, which is where I learned about it 15 years ago. The risk of cancer is probably better than Lyme disease etc, but I wouldn't consider it harmless by any means.

    My bottle leaked as I sprayed it. I'm glad I had gloves on, but I still didn't like that at all. It just dripped out from where the sprayer twists around. Not good. You didn't seem concerned at all about something like that because you had no gloves. Is it not as dangerous to get on your skin as they say?

    • @the_atomic_punk487
      @the_atomic_punk487 11 месяцев назад

      I’m wondering how is it not getting on your skin even after it’s dry? How is it all the sudden safe when it’s dry? Spray it on your hat and even if it dries, everytime you adjust your hat your getting it on your skin.

    • @mapache_del_sur
      @mapache_del_sur 2 месяца назад

      I wear gloves with it because the sprayer is not that great.
      It’s probably pretty safe. I still take precautions. I only use it on my boots, and that’s where a lot of the bugs crawl up from. I believe it does work, though they still find other ways in when walking through tall grass.
