To light the stove first turn the lever UP ! After the burner is light for a while then turn it DOWN ! This lets the fuel come from the bottom of the tank !

I have just picked up a stove, does the needle come with a replacement generator as mine is badly bent?

It has been a while, but as I recall, the kit had everything.

As I recall, it was supposed to. Mine was corroded and stuck, likely from moisture.

I was gifted one of these and used it once now it wont light. I used some fuel we had in a generator so maybe its just dirty?

That generator is just a loooong needle valve. If any rust particles or anything else gets in there, it will plug. The fuel itself isn't like car gas (no ethanol or other additives) so it lasts much longer. I was able to solve my problem by making sure that long passageway was clear and the needle valve was in good shape.
