One of the most amazing things to me is that with all those high notes by J None, it's actually BASS that he sings for the Navy! And the highest note sung in this song is by CESAR, not Eli! He's the one singing way up there in the whistle tones! My fave moment? When it is just Eli, J & Cesar together on "Hush, my darling..." They sound sooo good on that part. But I also must admit that I love the bit right after it when J gets that crazed look in his eye following the actual lion.

Great reaction - you caught a LOT on the first run through. Hard to see/hear it all. Did they have fun? Well, it was supposed to be a short, but Layne was having too much fun to stop so he arranged the whole thing. They couldn't get a steady cam last minute, so they did it on a phone.

Yes J.None is still with the navy music section but comes back regularly when he's get the chance, on leave from his duties. I remember the song from way back but not sure who by. I have the Graceland album and it's one of my favourites too. :) This version is the most fun ever. Geoff's dancing makes me laugh out loud, every time. Every time I watch this I see more animals! They seem to be breeding! And you're right. These guys are the best!

J None was stationed out in Seattle which made it hard to get back for videos. Recently he's been promoted by the US Navy to the premiers US Navy Chorus in Washington DC which makes it much easier for him to come back on leave for some of the videos. The Navy did move him from baritone to bass. I noticed he had some very high notes as did Cesar who had 2 new ones, C6 and D6, almost a whistle. This started out life as a short/mini but they were having so much fun that Layne (or should I say VioLayne) extended its length. Eli did a good job percussion when Layne was otherwise occupied and then there's Geoff. What can I say? This is a delight and takes me back over a half century. I've been subscribed to you! Oh and Sleeping In The Cold Below is new and also terrific!

This was just so much fun to watch, I laughed all the way through it the first 20 or so times I watched it. Then I started paying attention to the musicality of it.
I'm going to assume that if you didn't mention it, you missed it. The monkeys hanging from the ceiling when you mentioned the gorilla in the background. When Cesar went to sleep on J's shoulder, Layne was waving bye-bye.
Eli's baby was born in November, he was on set when they did this. Eli would go over periodically and kiss him on top of the head. So sweet. The members of Voiceplay are family to each other. They spend a lot of their off time togethr with their wives and families. We love them!
You haven't seen the most recent silly arrangement that Geoff did - Drunken Sailor. Watch to the end and enjoy!

VoicePlay did an earlier version of this a very long time ago (I think 2004) when they were still using the group name 4:2:Five on their albums Time Machine (no video). Lots of old goodies I listened to in the day. At that point it was Geoff , Layne , Earl and a young man named James. I couldn’t imagine how they would do it without Earl’s super high tones but they managed to do it. I have expected it from Eli and Cesar, but was surprised at J!

I've watched this video at least 20 times and this is the first time I noticed the rhino in the background when Caesar is twerking! Looks like it's smiling...

This had always been a really fun song. Voiceplay just enhances the fun.

That is a D-friggin’-6 by Cesar towards the end. And yeah, we’re always happy to hear Layne sing-he was originally the group’s baritone and took on vocal perc when Scott Porter (you’ll meet him in Halo Theme) left to act in LA. We also love VioLayne, who makes appearances in Warrior and another song I don’t want to name because it’ll ruin the surprise.
Yeah, I had to watch a lot more times to catch all the little bits. I ended up starting a new playlist “Make me Smile” for this one-it hasn’t failed yet to make me happy when I am feeling a little low.
This was originally meant to be one of their shorts (they do a lot of them in this mall setting) but the arrangement was so good Layne just did the whole thing and it’s perfect, even without all the production that goes into their full-length songs.
    Great reaction!

I added it to my “cheer me up” playlist as well. I started that when they did Boy Bands in 5 Minutes. I can never listen or watch that one without a big smile on my face by the end of it. And this one made that list as well. There are days when you just need to grin.
