Earl really nails his vocals in this. His high voice just cuts through everything so clearly. Wow! I agree it is "Bad ass".

That is Earl Elkins. He is a former member of Voiceplay. That was his husband with him in the hospital scenes

Hi! Read the blurbs on each of the dark lords. Earl Elkins (the guy in the hospital bed) is an original fellow from 1997 when VoicePlay was 4:2 Five ( the name goes from when there was only 4 members and got another member making 5). While on tour, he had a burst appendix and that was the concept for this use of Queen. I love making a mini movie of Queen. Shortly thereafter, Earl left for personal reasons (that was a bit over 3 yrs ago). He has an incredible tenor and I wish he would come back at least once in a while. You should see him in VPs Moana. When J None was recruited into the US Navy Chorus, VP was down two. They brought on Cesar who has a great range for both baritone and tenor. Eli (AKA Rock God who came on in 2010) is tenor 1 but also has an amazing range. For the 5th member, J None comes when he can (for awhile he was in Seattle and is now in Washington DC but that's closer than he was). VoicePlay brings on featured vocalists for the 5th members which gives them a lot of flexability. Do check out the video they dropped last week, The Lion Sleeps Tonight. It started as a mini - 2 minutes or less, but Layne and the guys were having so much fun that it kind of got extended. You'll see why Layne is sometimes referred to as VioLayne, Cesar hits a couple of new beautiful high notes, C6 and D6l The video is in a mall just outside the doors that is the studio that Tony Wakim (ex- VP baritone who wanted to be in production) and Layne bought.

Two of my favorites that include Earl (the patient here) are “Daddy Sang Bass” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” Eli’s outfit in the second one even makes him look a bit like Paul Simon.

The man in the bed is Earl Elkins Jr. who was a founding member along with Geoff and Layne. He left the group in 2020 for personal reasons. The young man in the gold jacket is J. None who left the group in 2021 to join and sing for the Navy. You will see him show back up in many videos as a featured artist when he is home on leave. Maybe more now that he is stationed closer to the guys in Washington DC. Only a short flight to Orlando.

The guy you didn't know with the great higher voice was Earl Elkins. He left in 2020, but had been an original member for over 20 years. Met Layne and Geoff in Junior High. It might seem as if they change people a lot, but I think part of why it might seem that way is that they never have filled that 5th position again and use a lot of 'featured guests' to make it to 5 people. The only one who has left since Earl was J. None and he returns often to sing with them.
Another medley Earl shines in is their "Boy Bands in 5 minutes", but this one is my favorite with him! Come to think of it, he's great in "Panic in 4 minutes", too!

Boy band remains one of my all-time favorites. I grew up in the era of the oldest songs and my son grew up in the more typical boy band era. So I knew almost every single song which is pretty amazing.

Great reaction Ginger! This is the song that 1000% solidified me as a VoicePlay fan. If you look at my arms, I have several music related tattoos, Queen, VoicePlay, Home Free, Elvis, Beatles and Prince. I even have a tattoo of Freddie in his iconic yellow and white suit from Wembley 1986. I think Freddie would be super honored by this medley.

I have never been able to place the song sung with bell tones at the beginning of We Are the Champions when Geoff sings rock tenor; you are absolutely right, that's Bohemiam Rapsody. You're the only reactor I've seen mention that. You've been filled in about Earl Elkins, Jr. already, but one song that shows off his insane high notes is Kurt Hugo Schneider's (feat VoicePlay) Twenty One Pilots mashup. That one was recorded after Tony Wakim left but before J.None joined.
    Great reaction.

When you watch it again, pause as they show each of the members. Each of them represents a god of the underworld waiting for Earl to die so they can twist him off. Geoff however represents the Baron in the voodoo faith who is the gravedigger and he is also the healer he determines whether or not someone lives or dies. As payment he collects a gold token if they continue to live. The medallion that Nick places around is missing at the end because he’s been allowed to live.
I have listened to this countless times and never realized that those bell tones were from Bohemian Rhapsody.
Other than Earl who was featured heavily in this, most of the changes occurred in the baritone slot. The beatboxer was the original baritone and when he switched over around 2010, Tony came in who remained with them until about 2017. When he left, J in the gold jacket joined them. In 2021 he was recruited by the Navy to send with them. He has been recently transferred over to the East Coast and so appears with them almost as if he’s a halftime member these days. Cesar, the baby of the group, is the new baritone but he also covers tenor because heaven forbid they should only fill one slot. They fill the fifth spot with a variety of friends, many appear fairly often so it’s almost like that part of the group.
Geoff , Layne, and Eli are always there. They always list all of the members in the credits. I don’t think it would affect the reaction if you knew who was who. They don’t put any spoilers in other than who did what.

Voiceplay medleys are amazing! Eli (short for Eliezer, pronounced Ellie) the bald tenor will always be there. J None from 2018 to 2021, recruited by the US Navy to sing for them. Earl until 2020, left for personal reasons. Cesar replaced J None in 2021. They are one man short and have a variety of friends collaborate with them. Try their Boy Bands in Five Minutes. Trust me.

    - Earl left

    - J.None (temporary?) left for an engagement in the US-Navy

This is an older video with former member Earl, who had a health scare on tour, appendicitis, so they came up with this storyline using clips of Queen songs. Earl was a founder member but left in 2020 for undisclosed personal reasons. J.None, the black guy, left in 2021 to sing with the US Navy music section, but comes back to join them when on leave from his duties. Geoff, Layne, and Elis are still the main group with the addition of Cesar de la Rosa who joined just after J left in 2021.

No offense taken, this was "badass". Most medleys are just songs back to back, maybe with a nice transition but not this one. You pointed out that they layered a bit but beyond that, they specifically chose songs in order to tell the story of a man who was fighting for his life within his subconscious. I too am a huge Queen fan and I bet Freddy would give them his seal of approval on this.
