@@etorepugatti9196 In 2008, the last F-22 was bought. The last F-22 was made in 2013. Obama's administration did not want the program to continue and the Congress did not fund any more. As far as the tooling... I doubt it was scraped Lockheed still has contracts for spare parts, etc.
Because each branch has an allocated budget, and the f22 production line has been closed for a long time. Its not really feasible to start it up again, and theres only 186 (I think) raptors, and if the usaf wants a next gen fighter they gotta cut costs. Its an amazing plane and there was supposed to be like 700 built originally, but the soviet union collapsed and there was no threat.
It's not that simple... There was indeed an idea and proposal some folks in the Air Force had a few years ago, circa 2020/2021... They wanted to retire the whole fleet in the 2030s (not have the fleet fully retired by 2030 as some people think/say) assuming NGAD would go into full rate production no later than the mid 2030s. But that was always a stupid and very irresponsible proposal for reasons I now don't have time to get into. Those few people have also been proposing, for about a couple years now, to retire immediately the older Block 20 F-22s that are used for pilot training. Another irresponsible and foolish idea. But so far, Congress has, fortunately, not allowed that to happen, GAO has expressed concerns with this proposal, some other people in the Air Force don't agree with that, and with recent news saying the NGAD program is basically now in a strategic pause in its development, this just means the fleet will remain in service until about 2040. The oldest F-22s still have plenty of airframe life remaining and can be used until the 2040s just fine. That was never an issue. This whole thing can be kind of weird and confusing for some, because as recently as 2017, and so, not much time before all of this nonsense and theater came up with a few of the USAF leaders, some other people in the Air Force were thinking and proposing to have the F-22 fleet stay in service until circa 2060. But we'll see what happens.
Let's not forget what they are probably being used for right now in the Middle East! I feel sick about these things being glorified like this!! SAVE THE CHILDREN!

Why in the hell are they determined to retire these!
They scrap the tools and the assembly lane when they (D.Rumsfeld) stopped the program
