Hi everyone. Just a quick update. Firstly - Apologies for the audio in certain parts of the video. Unfortunately, the restaurant has a lot of background noise so we had a few difficulties but we've just bought a new set of microphones. Secondly, some of you may be wondering why I rated the restaurant quite low despite the price. Unfortunately, I started to feel unwell during the review after eating certain dishes and was extremely unwell afterwards which is unfortunate. All better now though! Thank you all for watching. 😀
Glad you got over the sickness episode 🙈 whilst we all love your vlogs...dont put yourself in foodie danger..after your mix of food I think my tummy would be gurgling too😟 Ty for sharing Gary🎉
Sorry to hear you were poorly-you should really report it to the restaurant as if they get other complaints then they can try and ascertain if there is or was a certain food hygiene issue--glad you are better now 👍
I don’t like these type of places and your review has confirmed my opinion. I find them too noisy and busy with poor quality food. The seating often reminds me of a work canteen. However,it’s the hygiene in such places which concern me the most. Never know how long the food has been sitting there,if it’s been warmed up and if customers have been coughing and wheezing over the food whilst they choose what to eat. No thanks! I thought your score was fair considering the food made you ill. Sorry to hear that and pleased you’re better now.
I love that you get around and like to push the boat out Gary. Your enthusiasm is infectious. Perhaps, most all, i love your candour and honesty. It keeps it fresh and engaging watching your series of reviews.
I think it was important to say - me and my husband ate here about a year ago. On our 20 ish minute drive home, my husband (who was driving at the time) announced to me that he felt ill and within seconds was vomiting (all over himself, inside of the car and steering wheel). I luckily managed to pull the car over from the passenger seat and by luck we were not involved in any accident!! I was not long after very sick too. However after we’d both thrown up what we had eaten, we were feeling fine again! The car and clothes were disgusting though 😂 We called the restaurant the next day (not to ask for any money back or anything, just to inform them of our illness for their records and because it felt the right thing to do in this instance) and they were very very rude on the phone! Needless to say, we will never go back! Which is a shame because on a previous visit I had loved the place! Eat here with extreme caution!
@@GaryEats thank you - I hope you are better too! Luckily all good now, and happy to laugh about it in hindsight! My husband had to drive us home on the motorway in just his boxers which did make us chuckle 😂
How was the camera man after all his salty food, sorry ive forgotten he's already eaten twice in January so would ov been back on the crisps, hope you've got over that quickly see ya on the next one
I worked in a similar production kitchen serving 1500 covers in Germany. Excessive salt is present when food is turning sour from the 'Cook-Chill' process - The food is not over seasoned when freshly cooked, but salt is released as food is chilled and reheated the next day. You need an army of chef's to monitor serving food at this scale - I mean look at it! It's food on an epic scale and they are clearly not managing things properly. Thanks Gary and stay safe 🤓
I’m 47 years old and will eat anything. Only 2 meals in my life I couldn’t eat, and one was there. It gets worse at busy times, as it’s so loud. I swore I would never go back but was invited to a birthday party at (you’ve guessed it). Unfortunately the birthday girl like yourself became ill, so fortunately for me we all left early.
Being a denizen of this fine yet mildly festering harbour town you hit the nail on the head with the first part of your conclusion - it's made for groups of friends; no bickering over a menu, or indecision, or of who owes what at the end...and big family groups, because it's the water park of food halls - so many unattended noisy brats running around in complete safety, while the rents get sloshed. Tend to avoid, but it has it's place, and does it quite well. Thanks Gary.

Since I started watching your videos a couple of weeks ago, I’m absolutely addicted and now watching all your back catalogue. I’ve been to a few that you’ve reviewed and have probably the same experience. My wife and I are working grandparents but like to spend good money on good food when we can. I think we’ve learnt to keep away from buffet restaurant from then onwards 👍
Very fair review there Gary, picking out the good while criticising the not so good. Giving a very balanced review of their offering. That’s the thing with buffets though, they can be so hit and miss!
Hi Gary, one reasons why I don't like buffets un general, unless it's a small one, like the Indian you had, is down to the health risk. It's easy for food to spoil in the containers as water dripps down on the actual food, due to the steam, and creates a breeding ground for bacteria. Really sorry to hear you felt unwell afterwards, but I was cringing when you went through the Indian section, as I thought it looked horrible. Glad you're feeling fine now, mate! Another great review in the bag, Gary and have yourself an absolutely wonderful rest of your Sunday. Will shot you an email tomorrow with a few suggestions and some new discoveries. 😊
Yes Frank. Completely agree, I'm not a massive fan of buffets either but a few people wanted me to review so it's only fair. Appreciate it mate and all the best, have a wonderful night and shoot me across that email.
Like all your videos I found this one very interesting. I actually visited this place last August with some relatives and was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed the food. I'm absolutely mad on Tarka Daal lentils and actually enjoyed it here and can't remember whether or not it was salty. The chicken tikka was lovely. I would definitely visit this place again when I'm next in Bristol. Every time without fail whenever I watch your videos my mouth just starts watering and I instantly feel hungry. Thanks for posting.
I live in Bristol and can completely agree with your assessment. As a family we often eat out together for birthdays etc (there are 16 of us). The first and last time we went to Zsa Zsa Bazaar 10-15 years ago we were so disappointed in the quality of the food that we have never been back there. I did expect them to have improved over those years but clearly not. In contrast in that time we have been to Cosmo at least 10 times. Zsa Zsa has better views across the harbour but thats all its got going for it. Even the soft drinks are expensive. Thanks Gary you've saved us giving it another chance. Don't let it put you off coming to Bristol :)
Bless your stomach, Gary - especially in the morning when all that traffic comes out the other end! Generally, the more options available, the worse the food - quantity over quality; I prefer it the other way around. As you say tho', these kind of places are alright if you just want to stuff your face with a group of pals after a few beers on empty stomachs. I too avoid sushi, oysters, and also rice at buffets; you never know how many times that stuff's been sent out, how long it's been sat there, or whether the temp of it has been monitored correctly. Great post, pal 👍.
Fair play Gary another straight and honest review. Its a breath of fresh air when some food vloggers are giving chain burger places 9 out of 10. Imo you have the perfect manner with your scores, nobody is looking to thrash anyone's reputation but your experience was what it was.
It wasn’t the best but maybe I went at a bad time, I’m not in a position to cause any problems with peoples business that would be unfair but I do have to give an honest review.
We’ve been there a few years ago and weren’t impressed, to be fair we arnt fans of world buffet places - your honest review confirmed for us that specialist restaurants are best - live that first comment as well - they have their place 👍
Always look forward to a new review popping up, Gary 👍🏼 Shame about the food there, regardless of price there's no excuse for inedible salty food, sorry to hear the food made you ill! But back to normal it seems 👍🏼 Buffets always seem to be hit and miss with the different cuisines, but this one seemed to miss a lot! The ice cream was more Mr Wonky than Mr Whippy 😄 but at least that tasted good and got a genuine laugh out loud from me with the salty gag😂
It's a bit like Russian Roulette with these sorts of places. If you are lucky and pick the "right" dishes its great value, but if you don't it not a nice experience. I most probably would have £12.99 of ice cream never mind anything else! Glad you are feeling better, being unwell away from home is pretty miserable.
Ive said it before Gary but ive never yet been to an international buffet where the taste is consitently good across all cuisines. Normally they do chinese well - but this one didnt seem to pull that off. For 13 quid what can one expect? Small portions or less choice at a better quality point is my answer. Or increase the price by a quid and serve better food. Fair score ithink. Enjoyed the vid - thanks Gary.
I visited this place around 4 years ago. We were laughing, in stitches, at how bad the food was whilst sitting at the table. It’s now a running joke amongst my friends. Fortunately it didn’t make us ill, so I assume we got off lucky!
Restaurant: 5/10 Weight loss centre: 10/10 I hope it wasn't too drastic, Gary. I'm always wary of buffets in this country, thanks for doing the hard yards for us.
Hi Gary, Sorry you felt unwell but glad you are ok now. I was thinking Jack of all trades master of none as the review was progressing. Bristol is a nice place and actually was based there for a week about 5 years ago with work but didn’t go there to eat at the time. Food obviously looked a bit better than it tasted which for:me is why reviews like yours are very useful. The price is fine and I guess if you select the right dishes then it wouldn’t be so bad
I applaud the good work you are doing Gary, and I’m amazed you are not the size of a small planet. You must spend the non review days on a treadmill or fasting. Loving your work.
The only restaurant that can get away with having a huge menu yet still having decent food, IMO, is Mexican. They just use the same 15 items repackaged for each dish. :)
Great vid and incredible value! Now, since you asked for feedback some time ago, I'll give you another one: fine that you dont fancy sushi but, there could still be a quick overview showing of how it looks. Thanks and keep up up the good job!
I lived 2 mins away from this Za Za Bazaar for over 10 years in Bristol, I tried it a couple times and always seemed quantity over quality. There is a great Indian restaurant in small street in Bristol called urban tandoor. Had Great Indian food in there many times. I live in Harrogate now, it would be great if you review a restaurant in Harrogate if you are ever this way. Keep up the great videos Gary. 👍
Great honest review Gary, looking at the food it looked so good just shows looks can be deceiving PS great to see the subs going through the roof, honest reviews and brillint videos could be the real reason...well done
As a long time subscriber and vegetarian I'm really pleased you try real variety of food now and not just the original Gary eats beef... Be it meat or veggie...let's give it a go.
phew that was quite a harsh up and down, i doubt i'd ever eat there, even for the asked price. thanks for the honest review gary, it's awesome how fast your channel grows!🙂👍
Gary do you like sushi? Would deffo recommend ‘Sushi Mania’ in Reading - it’s all you can eat order-style restaurant which has sushi, noodles, skewers, dumplings etc. Love your videos 👌
You should try the JRC Global Buffet in Watford. That for me is the best standard in the UK. So good Channel 5 even made a documentary a few years ago on it.
Always a pleasure to see you Gary 😊,, sorry this wasn't the best experience for you 😢,, you should try going again justto see if there is a difference 😊 ❤
I've just watched your first video and now this one. Nice to see how your presentation style has progressed - much tighter and crisper now, but still very natural and accessible. Nice one.
Another true and honest review I think a score of five might of been generous. Not good you were unwell after the meal I hope your feeling a lot better now.
Morning Gary, severe storm over here yesterday, no electric, thank goodness it's back. Didn't care much for the place, looked like something out of blade ŕunner, or some weird utopian state. Thought the ice cream looked lovely. You were generous with a 5, now we know the outcome of the food, you were more than generous. Glad you're feeling better Gary.
I’m all good now, and more importantly I really hope all is good with you. It’s not somewhere I would go again. Now please stay safe with the bad weather 😊🤞
All good over here Gary. Storm has gone, it was really bad, Britain and Ireland went through a lot. I could not take to that place, and I don't blame you for not wanting to go back. Glad you are feeling better
Hi Gary, fantastic review! Great that you called a spade a spade in the case of the Far East and the Indian buffet. I'm surely going there only for the Tex Mex as well as for the GB Classics buffet, which you unfortunately didn't try (I think the GB Classics would have surely compensated for the Far East and the Indian buffet). Anyways, keep giving them a go!!!🎉😊
This place is fun but proves you can’t be everything for all people… the place itself as the biggest restaurant is more the spectacle rather than the food. I’ve been here a couple of times as I live not too far away and the food was okay. Good video Gary as always! Thanks for visiting the Southwest…. Beefy Boys is a place you might want to consider, there are venues in Hereford, Cheltenham and Shrewsbury. The flagship restaurant is the Hereford one. The back story is; four mates from Hereford who ended up coming second in the world food championship in Las Vegas.
My hometown ( moved to Cornwall 2 years ago ) ! I’ve been to za za, only a couple of times as buffet places aren’t really my thing. From memory my experience wasn’t great, I can remember trying a scallop and it was like a rubber ball 😂 my view is if you get a chef to cook your food fresh in front of you, it should be ok..ish. When you were doing your Mr Whippy I was cracking up 😂 Glad you enjoyed that though 🍦 I think your score was very generous considering what you had 😊 Great you went to Bristol! 😊
Top classic review Gary, there is a great Travelodge just round the corner, great big rooms for about 50 quid on a Sunday. Wetherspoons also nearby. Been to Cosmo Cardiff, high quality and like this one plenty of it. You should have tried the chocolate fountain. Problem is with these buffets the mixture of assorted food can make you feel sick and they are often too salty or not hot enough. You did the best thing by getting the chef to freshly prepare the noodles for you. Ps what does a Chinese waiter say when you don't leave a tip? ......"Plic." 😂
Very impressive Gary, and beautifully presented by the chef team... You were brave with that sweater.. I'd have to wear a huge bib... I'm rather messy when eating wings. Regards.
I remember go there the first weekend it opened. The trouble we had was that we got there half an hour before the change over to the evening prices. So when we went to pay they tried to charge us for the evening meal. The girl I was with kick up a right stink because in the build up to the evening food being put out there was only the leftovers from the day menu on the passes. I've got to give it to them they were fine about it and charged us for the earlier menu.
I've been to zaza's a couple of times and the food is never completely great. It's good fun taking the kids and letting them loose on everything - they can taste stuff and not worry too much about whether they'll like it or not, so it's quite good for that. If you want to expand your range of foods you'd try, it's a decent shout. I would maybe give it 6/10 but your comments are pretty fair I think.
Wow, Gary. Never thought you'd be in Bristol and not far from me. Za za bazaar is actually a pretty good buffet and the Indian food is very good for a buffet, the head chef is also head chef for one of the better Indians in town
Smart jersey Gary. I saw a red dot appear on it when you were at the fish and thought it was that Kerridge coming for you. Turns out it was a mark on my screen.
Excellent review Gary, I went to this place with my family about 2 years ago and sat exactly where you did! I really did like this restaurant. Excellent quality and very nice eating experience. One of my fav, quality for veg and non veg
Gary and Terry I decided I was a bit unfair and would give you another chance. Glad I did. Great honest review. Thank God you didnt try the sushi in that place. Great entertainment as always
Just discovered your channel and am really enjoying your videos. Your delivery is perfect....you come across as a very fair and thoroughly decent chap. May your channel go from strength to strength!
Meals in places like ZaZa rely on either an army of people preparing the ingredients to be cooked OR ready sliced veg being delivered in (usually) large plastic containers. So if you want crisp fresh food avoid places like ZaZa. Do you remember about 15 years ago honey made from non EU blends was removed from all supermarkets? This was because the chemicals used to clean the bee hives had been banned in the EU. I saw you had prawns in the noodles, and in shrimps/prawns sourced from some countries an organic chloride salt, malachite green, is used for it anti fungal properties in aquaculture. This compound is not used in UK because of its carciogenic properties. May have been what gave you a funny tummy?
Nice to see somewhere I recognise and have eaten in, plus I think we have sat at the same table. Bristol Cosmo is just up the road kind of behind the Cathedral. Disappointing about the saltiness of the curries, think somebody must have bumped the chef when he was adding it lol. Thought 5/10 was a bit harsh but then I read your Update and now I understand, glad you are feeling better.
@@GaryEats Visited here with my wife and son yesterday and had a thoroughly lovely time, the beef in the beef and black bean was a bit chewy but manageable but my favourite was the one you missed, the Lamb Rogan Josh, it was so tender and had a lovely flavour.. until I crunched on a bone but I'll push that issue to one side :), Completely forgot about the fajita bar until my wife told me about it after we left :(
A very fair review Gary. Several aspects of the food were disappointing, in its favour was the vast range of different dishes available. Many thanks for sharing with us 👍👍👍
Glad you're feeling better Gary. On your behalf I wrote to Bazaar and told them how much you enjoyed it. They responded. "Dear Mr G. Thank you for your kind review of our Salt Factory/Eatery. We would like to reward you with one years supply of mushroom sushi, beef in black bean sauce (no peppers) and a lifetime selection (minus the chicken tikka) of our salt free Indian cuisine which you loved so much." Onwards and upwards chum. Thank You for an amazing review. Neil
Hi Gary, great review again - have to say that some of those curries looked a bit "watery", probably been cooking on and off for days. Never been to a restaurant like that before, and in all honestly I don't think I'll bother, prefer a small local establishment - but interesting vlog all the same.
@@GaryEats After reading your pinned comment about being unwell, I'll think I shall give this establishment a miss if I'm ever in the area. Glad your feeling better.
What a beautiful piece of music as you entered the eating establishment. I believe it's titled Midwest Diner. I just love this type of music and especially the saxophone, my all time favourite instrument. Great choice to your introduction of the restaurant.
Personally the place looks fantastic and the set up excellent, I think your experience here is what you’d expect from any buffet restaurant if you’re going on a lunch time mid week it’s never going to be at its best some of them dishes could have being kept warm all afternoon, a review on a busy weekend night would give you a better idea of the food, with fresh food coming out regularly, enjoying your reviews Garry keep up the good work 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
The food looked really nice. I'm surprised it wasn't as good as it looked. Sorry you were ill. Too much salt? We frequented one of our local Indian restaurants for years. Used to go an eat after a few drinks! We enjoyed it. The last time we ate there we were sober as we were going to the theatre. All the food was very salty, no spiciness at all. Wondering whether it has always been like that and we haven't noticed because of the alcoholic imbibing.
I’m from Bristol myself and we have plenty of good restaurants, I don’t rate Za Za bazaar myself, I hope you come back and try visiting one of the better places to eat as I do enjoy watching your videos,
Thanks Gary, great review. Have to say noodles are possibly my favourite ‘eastern’ food so would love to have that cooked in front of me !! As for the Indian - definitely a miss. If there is one thing I can’t abide it’s food that is too salty or too sweet - just ruins food. Love the pullover !👍
Whilst there is no direct comparison, your experience reminds me of the buffet situation during a trip to Sharm El-Sheikh. Recycled food throughout and to no surprise, food poisoning. Don’t really touch buffets given the experience! As always another, down to earth, review 👌🏽
I have been there a few times, in the evening with friends and during the day with my Missus. The food has been the same on each occasion, plenty of choice and at an affordable price. But the quality was always lacking. Plus I always find that you can't really have a good evening out with friends in these places as you're never all sat down at the same time. Never ill afterwards though.
Sorry to hear that you felt so ill after the meal Gary and I'm glad you are ok now. I think your score is fair. The fact that a lot of the food was salty i think is a cover up for the food not being fresh. None of it looked good. The scale of food they are serving ... there is no way that the food can be fresh.

I'v been to a lot of places to try out but your reviews are very honest and not full of crap Gary. Keep up the good work 😊
Thank you mate
Great review Gary,I'm from ireland and we have these places plenty of food but low quailty, less is more. Take care I enjoy your channel
Thanks John. Take care and looking forward to coming over.
Yep, completely agree.
Always look forward to a new review popping up, Gary 👍🏼
Shame about the food there, regardless of price there's no excuse for inedible salty food, sorry to hear the food made you ill! But back to normal it seems 👍🏼
Buffets always seem to be hit and miss with the different cuisines, but this one seemed to miss a lot!
The ice cream was more Mr Wonky than Mr Whippy 😄 but at least that tasted good and got a genuine laugh out loud from me with the salty gag😂
Appreciate that Warren. Yes, I don't think I've got any sort of future in ice cream.
Have to agree with you - thanks mate
Gary, hopefully you’re feeling better now. You tickled me with that ice cream 🍦 segment. Always appreciate your honest reviews.
So kind to say Phylis but I shouldn’t of had the ice cream 🍦😳
Ive said it before Gary but ive never yet been to an international buffet where the taste is consitently good across all cuisines. Normally they do chinese well - but this one didnt seem to pull that off. For 13 quid what can one expect? Small portions or less choice at a better quality point is my answer. Or increase the price by a quid and serve better food. Fair score ithink. Enjoyed the vid - thanks Gary.
More than welcome Rob.
always meant to ask, Gary.. what's your background? were you in the food business? you have insight as to how dishes should be..
Hi Ashley. Used to run pubs and gastropubs alike :)
Gary knows his onions
I visited this place around 4 years ago. We were laughing, in stitches, at how bad the food was whilst sitting at the table. It’s now a running joke amongst my friends. Fortunately it didn’t make us ill, so I assume we got off lucky!
Haha, I can almost imagine. Very lucky!
Best table in the house...they know who you are, Gary.
Haha. Brlliant!
Restaurant: 5/10
Weight loss centre: 10/10
I hope it wasn't too drastic, Gary.
I'm always wary of buffets in this country, thanks for doing the hard yards for us.
LOL. Not too bad, had worse.
Thanks Tony. Yes, you've nailed it. That's what I've been replying to others.
I applaud the good work you are doing Gary, and I’m amazed you are not the size of a small planet. You must spend the non review days on a treadmill or fasting.
Loving your work.
Try to keep trip but not sure it’s working lol 😂
"Oh my God! It's salty" when eating the ice cream 🤣🤣🤣
Just a joke obviously lol 😂
Salted caramel ice cream?
As a chef I can only forward by experience ; the bigger the choices the lower the quality
Good call Simon thank you 😊
Hi, Simon. As a fellow chef, I'll second that 👍.
The only restaurant that can get away with having a huge menu yet still having decent food, IMO, is Mexican. They just use the same 15 items repackaged for each dish. :)
Thanks for your review Gary, It's a shame that it didn't come up to expectations, but the price is the clue and you get what you pay for, thank you.
Absolutely Colin. Thank you!
That place reminds me of the Baltimore Inner Harbor. Love that place, fond memories! Enjoyed this video (as always), always puts a smile on my face. 🙏
Thank you so much 😊
Great vid and incredible value! Now, since you asked for feedback some time ago, I'll give you another one: fine that you dont fancy sushi but, there could still be a quick overview showing of how it looks. Thanks and keep up up the good job!
Thank you!! Oh sorry, I meant I wasn't mad about the sushi here which is why I didn't get the cameraman to show it.
Pasture in Bristol try Gary for a steak
Danny’s burgers for a burger
Rice and things for a Caribbean
Lona for a lebenese meat platter
Yes Gary I could see you wasn't very impressed, noodles looked OK thanks for sharing
Your welcome Lee not too good to be fair 😳
The noodles and the Mex chicken wings pour moi! That was all.
Will look next time Matthew 👍
I would love too see what you think of Bettys Gary. When I lived in Harrogate it was expensive but worth it.@@GaryEats
@@fpwrankin Yep, try Betty's for afternoon tea.
Well that was 50/50 for me some good some not so . Would I go there ! No I don’t think I would you gave the most honest review . Thanks Gary.👍🙏🏼🤩❤️👏
Thank you Karen. All the best!!
THANKYOU GARYWELCOME TO BRISTOL XXX
Thank you very much, Mikey xxx
Nice video Gary you are always honest in your review, never been to a buffet restaurant would you believe have you ever met any fans in public
Not too many 😞 lol 😂
Great honest review Gary, looking at the food it looked so good just shows looks can be deceiving
PS great to see the subs going through the roof, honest reviews and brillint videos could be the real reason...well done
Very kind to say thank you 😊
As a long time subscriber and vegetarian I'm really pleased you try real variety of food now and not just the original Gary eats beef... Be it meat or veggie...let's give it a go.
A long time subscriber? The channels been going for 6 months you pleb. Stop liking your own comments too.
Oh wow, you've been around for a long time. Yes, much more options this way. Thank you.
Looking forward to the Ireland videos and hopefully as far as Japan one day. Will you be going to Whitby when the weather turns.
@@GaryEats I think the first video I watched was the one with the horrific jellied eels
@@oohmeshreddies grow up you nonce
phew that was quite a harsh up and down, i doubt i'd ever eat there, even for the asked price.
thanks for the honest review gary, it's awesome how fast your channel grows!🙂👍
Indeed! Thank you :)
Gary do you like sushi? Would deffo recommend ‘Sushi Mania’ in Reading - it’s all you can eat order-style restaurant which has sushi, noodles, skewers, dumplings etc. Love your videos 👌
Not mad on sushi but will try all 👍
You should try the JRC Global Buffet in Watford. That for me is the best standard in the UK. So good Channel 5 even made a documentary a few years ago on it.
I'll check it out! On the list.
Gary you should try the Buffet at The Grove Hotel in Watford. Pricey but apparently unbelievable quality food.
Will do. Thanks mate :)
Always a pleasure to see you Gary 😊,, sorry this wasn't the best experience for you 😢,, you should try going again justto see if there is a difference 😊 ❤
Maybe one dayTrudy but not soon lol
Another great review gary thanks so much
Glad you enjoyed it Julie
Thanks for the great video once again. As you indicated depends on the freshness of the food, i wonder how long the food had sat in the containers.
No idea Hugh 😳
You arranged your indian plate really nicely. That naan looked very nice as well.
Yes it was but the Indian selection didn’t taste too good 👍
@@GaryEats Sorry it made you feel ill. Do you have Tums in England?
I've just watched your first video and now this one. Nice to see how your presentation style has progressed - much tighter and crisper now, but still very natural and accessible. Nice one.
Much appreciated really appreciated 👍
Another true and honest review I think a score of five might of been generous. Not good you were unwell after the meal I hope your feeling a lot better now.
Thanks Douglas. Feeling much better now - how are you?
Anyways, keep giving them a go!!!🎉😊
Thank you Ashujeet, very kind of you.
Completely agree with you Tommy.
Superb review again Gary, a really fair insight.
Thank you kindly Steve 👍
My hometown ( moved to Cornwall 2 years ago ) ! I’ve been to za za, only a couple of times as buffet places aren’t really my thing. From memory my experience wasn’t great, I can remember trying a scallop and it was like a rubber ball 😂 my view is if you get a chef to cook your food fresh in front of you, it should be ok..ish. When you were doing your Mr Whippy I was cracking up 😂 Glad you enjoyed that though 🍦 I think your score was very generous considering what you had 😊 Great you went to Bristol! 😊
I try to travel when I get a chance Amanda and will return to Bristol lots of excellent restaurants 😊
Thanks again Gary this place looked great as you say but the food is the money
Unbelievable premises but not all good food unfortunately 👍
Can't believe you came to my home town. I have never tried Za Za, I have always heard mixed reviews but I will "give it a go" in the future.
No problem 😉
Looks really good quality and value.....sometimes there is to much choice :-) great review again Gary keep up the good work
Thank you Graham
Top classic review Gary, there is a great Travelodge just round the corner, great big rooms for about 50 quid on a Sunday. Wetherspoons also nearby. Been to Cosmo Cardiff, high quality and like this one plenty of it. You should have tried the chocolate fountain. Problem is with these buffets the mixture of assorted food can make you feel sick and they are often too salty or not hot enough. You did the best thing by getting the chef to freshly prepare the noodles for you. Ps what does a Chinese waiter say when you don't leave a tip? ......"Plic." 😂
Thank you Colin!! Lol
Very impressive Gary, and beautifully presented by the chef team... You were brave with that sweater.. I'd have to wear a huge bib... I'm rather messy when eating wings.
Regards.
Was very careful lol
I remember go there the first weekend it opened. The trouble we had was that we got there half an hour before the change over to the evening prices. So when we went to pay they tried to charge us for the evening meal. The girl I was with kick up a right stink because in the build up to the evening food being put out there was only the leftovers from the day menu on the passes. I've got to give it to them they were fine about it and charged us for the earlier menu.
Oh dear. Not good Robert
Great video Gary fantastic range of dishes keep up the videos!!!
More to come and thank you for watching Jack 😊
I've been to zaza's a couple of times and the food is never completely great.
It's good fun taking the kids and letting them loose on everything - they can taste stuff and not worry too much about whether they'll like it or not, so it's quite good for that.
If you want to expand your range of foods you'd try, it's a decent shout.
I would maybe give it 6/10 but your comments are pretty fair I think.
I was disappointed but it’s cheap and great for families
Wow, Gary. Never thought you'd be in Bristol and not far from me. Za za bazaar is actually a pretty good buffet and the Indian food is very good for a buffet, the head chef is also head chef for one of the better Indians in town
Wow, interesting to know. Maybe just a bad day, just incredibly salty!
@@GaryEats I commented before I saw the full video, you missed out on the best bits, the masala and rogan josh are restaurant quality ☹️
Smart jersey Gary. I saw a red dot appear on it when you were at the fish and thought it was that Kerridge coming for you. Turns out it was a mark on my screen.
Thank you. Hahah Spencer, brilliant!
Evening Gary , good video honest review. You can’t say more than that. Stay safe out there amigo.
Thank you, I will George kind of you to say 👍
Excellent review Gary, I went to this place with my family about 2 years ago and sat exactly where you did! I really did like this restaurant. Excellent quality and very nice eating experience. One of my fav, quality for veg and non veg
Glad you enjoyed it maybe I went on an off day 👍
Gary and Terry I decided I was a bit unfair and would give you another chance. Glad I did. Great honest review. Thank God you didnt try the sushi in that place. Great entertainment as always
Hi my friend. I'm really glad you're back :) we all have differing opinions and I always respect your POV. It always helps with feedback as well.
You're a good guy Stephen, can't fault ya mate 👏
Just discovered your channel and am really enjoying your videos. Your delivery is perfect....you come across as a very fair and thoroughly decent chap. May your channel go from strength to strength!
Thank you so much!
I think you summed up these multi national buffets perfectly Gary. Jack of all trades master of none 😢
But I believe they can work especially for larger groups 😊
I liked the look of the Thai green.i tend to agree with your thoughts on rest. I guessed a 6.so I am not far out. Great review
Thank you Roger, I should have tried the green curry 👍
Thanks for another weekend of great content👍
Thanks for a lovely comment :)
Not sure what it was to be honest but all good now 👍
@@GaryEats Glad to hear you are fine now.
Get well soon, Gary. Best wishes, mate. Paul xxx.
Thanks Paul, take care x
Cheers, Gary xxx.
It was an excellent seat, I’m all good thank you, really appreciate you watching and commenting 👍
@@GaryEats Visited here with my wife and son yesterday and had a thoroughly lovely time, the beef in the beef and black bean was a bit chewy but manageable but my favourite was the one you missed, the Lamb Rogan Josh, it was so tender and had a lovely flavour.. until I crunched on a bone but I'll push that issue to one side :), Completely forgot about the fajita bar until my wife told me about it after we left :(
Wahoo!! Looking forward to this one!
Enjoy Daniel!
A very fair review Gary. Several aspects of the food were disappointing, in its favour was the vast range of different dishes available. Many thanks for sharing with us 👍👍👍
Totally agree Andrea some good and others no so 👍
wow amazing selection and super great price
Not good quality unfortunately
It’s 700 seats not 1000 btw, the 1000 is including the bar down stairs
Please don’t tell me that is your comment, it seems like you’re splitting hairs
Glad you're feeling better Gary.
On your behalf I wrote to Bazaar and told them how much you enjoyed it. They responded.
"Dear Mr G. Thank you for your kind review of our Salt Factory/Eatery. We would like to reward you with one years supply of mushroom sushi, beef in black bean sauce (no peppers) and a lifetime selection (minus the chicken tikka) of our salt free Indian cuisine which you loved so much."
Onwards and upwards chum. Thank You for an amazing review.
Neil
Thanks for that one Neil, I have to say... your response on behalf of them is extremely accurate.. lol.
Gary every time you taste things I hold my breath in anticipation how strange . Love your videos xx
Thank you Linda!!
Hi Gary, great review again - have to say that some of those curries looked a bit "watery", probably been cooking on and off for days.
Never been to a restaurant like that before, and in all honestly I don't think I'll bother, prefer a small local establishment - but interesting vlog all the same.
If you go be selective 👍
@@GaryEats After reading your pinned comment about being unwell, I'll think I shall give this establishment a miss if I'm ever in the area.
Glad your feeling better.
Thank you Hugh :)
Wow, amazing Gary, the size of the place and the choices amazing 👏
Glad you enjoyed it Paul 👍
There’ll be a chocolate fountain in your bathroom later Gary after all that food 😂
Naughty 😳
What a beautiful piece of music as you entered the eating establishment. I believe it's titled Midwest Diner. I just love this type of music and especially the saxophone, my all time favourite instrument. Great choice to your introduction of the restaurant.
Thank you very much!
Personally the place looks fantastic and the set up excellent, I think your experience here is what you’d expect from any buffet restaurant if you’re going on a lunch time mid week it’s never going to be at its best some of them dishes could have being kept warm all afternoon, a review on a busy weekend night would give you a better idea of the food, with fresh food coming out regularly, enjoying your reviews Garry keep up the good work 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Thanks for the tips Jason good comment 👍
The food looked really nice. I'm surprised it wasn't as good as it looked. Sorry you were ill. Too much salt? We frequented one of our local Indian restaurants for years. Used to go an eat after a few drinks! We enjoyed it. The last time we ate there we were sober as we were going to the theatre. All the food was very salty, no spiciness at all. Wondering whether it has always been like that and we haven't noticed because of the alcoholic imbibing.
I think buffet food can be a little hit and miss, but you know what to do before you try again, STAY SOBAR lol 😂
I’m from Bristol myself and we have plenty of good restaurants, I don’t rate Za Za bazaar myself, I hope you come back and try visiting one of the better places to eat as I do enjoy watching your videos,
I will be back Sam 👍
Thanks Gary, great review. Have to say noodles are possibly my favourite ‘eastern’ food so would love to have that cooked in front of me !! As for the Indian - definitely a miss. If there is one thing I can’t abide it’s food that is too salty or too sweet - just ruins food. Love the pullover !👍
The noodles tasted really good and cooked in front of you so agree a good choice 👍
Thank you for the jumper review lol 😂
$12.99 for a vanilla ice-cream cone isn't a very good deal.
Love this video and review!
It is if I’m serving 😳
Whilst there is no direct comparison, your experience reminds me of the buffet situation during a trip to Sharm El-Sheikh.
Recycled food throughout and to no surprise, food poisoning.
Don’t really touch buffets given the experience!
As always another, down to earth, review 👌🏽
Thank you so much, I was going to say I’m going to give them a miss for a while but doing a breakfast two soon so wish me luck 😳
The Far East and Indian sections looked crapola to me. I'd skip the whole thing and wouldn't bother going there
Yes, wanted to try the sushi but it didn't look good.
Go get them squid rings rn
I have been there a few times, in the evening with friends and during the day with my Missus.
The food has been the same on each occasion, plenty of choice and at an affordable price.
But the quality was always lacking.
Plus I always find that you can't really have a good evening out with friends in these places as you're never all sat down at the same time.
Never ill afterwards though.
It could have being a bad occasion but not impressed to be fair 😳
Gary loved you trying all the different dishes well done some looked okay while others not good keep up the good work ❤
Thank you, I will Jen really appreciated👍
Glad your on the mend Gary, for such a massive place it seems to be quantity over quality sadly
You are right Matty 👍
Sorry to hear that you felt so ill after the meal Gary and I'm glad you are ok now. I think your score is fair. The fact that a lot of the food was salty i think is a cover up for the food not being fresh. None of it looked good. The scale of food they are serving ... there is no way that the food can be fresh.
I’m absolutely fine Melanie thank you 😊 I agree I’m not sure how much was fresh 👍
For 12,99 all you can eat. That can't be bad, especially in this day and age. .Thanks Gary glad you recovered
I did Malcolm and maybe a bad day 👍
