    Good review! I own a 2018 Passat SE W/ technology package. I’ve owned other luxury cars so I’d like to think that my opinion has some weight to it. I would say that it’s a sharp, classy, tastefully premium looking mid size sedan. You certainly get a lot of good stuff for your money. VW has very good attention to detail and it shows when you drive it. Very comfortable & spacious for the passengers with several niceties to boot. Feels solid & substantial yet doesn’t feel or drive overly big or boaty. Easy car to drive & navigate on a daily basis. Very refined and quiet. The 2.0T has plenty of passing power and the fast shifting transmission is extremely smooth. Offers many upscale safety tech features. VW offers a six year bumper-to-bumper warranty which is nice as well. Definitely one you should consider if you’re looking for a bigger size sedan that’s more on the premium side. FYI, the rear view mirror you were talking about is called an electrochromatic mirror (a.k.a. Auto dimming mirror). It adjusts to the amount of light thats being reflected on it day and night. Looks pretty dope too.

    I have a 18 R line and I'm glad I have a 17 with the 1.8 turbo. There are a ton of upgrades that will allow me to get into the 250hp range but yet keep the reliability. The 2.0 liter is focused on gas mileage even more and I'm satisfied with my mileage with the 1.8T. I hate the deletion of the analog clock in the dash. I agree this car needs LED lights inside but that's an easy upgrade. That car in the real world will sell for about 27k and it's a great value for a rock solid quality sedan. You can always go see the wizard for some mods if you want more performance and get it especially with the legendary 1.8T.

    I owned a 2015 with the 1.8l until just recently. Mine was just a limited but it had all the same basic stuff. I will probably buy one of the 2018 SE with Tech for my wife this year to replace her MB E350. VW went to the 2.0l this year. The comment that was made that the 2.0 has more power and efficiency than the 1.8l. I dont see much truth in that statement. They spec almost exactly the same. I will say that my Passat was the most fuel efficient vehicle i ever owned. My car regularly got 40-45mpg on the highway. I had the car packed full with 4 large people, our dog and a full trunk and drove it to Corpus from DFW. I was getting 42mpg fully loaded and had no power issues. People dog on the Passat for its looks. I personally think it looks great. Its extremely practical. Maintenance is cheap. Its got a ton or room in the back seat. The trunk is huge. As far as comfort, it is one of the most comfortable vehicles i have ever driven. I regularly drove it on long distance trips over 12 hours a day. It is not a grandpa's car. Its agile, it handles very well and it is very quick. It was the perfect car for the daily Dallas high speed commute. That car regularly seen 80-90 mph and it feels steady. It is not nerve-wracking to drive. This vehicle is made to drive hard. I would buy another one in a second. Another thing i liked about it is that i never had issues with people backing into it or tearing it up. I cant say the same for our E Class.

    Hey Everyone, so after reviewing the Passat that day I decided to drive it home. My plan was to make another video about this car the following morning. Needless to say the next morning came and I decided to just drive back to Volkswagen store and drop it off. While driving to the dealership that morning in the Passat I kept saying to myself why am I not getting excited about this car? I've been so excited to film the 2018 ATLAS & TIGUAN but the Passat did nothing for me. I feel bad saying this, but at the end of the day I feel Volkswagen really needs to make some major upgrades to this car. I'm sure for 2019 or 2020 the Passat will get a redesign just like the Jetta is, but please VW give the Passat more kick butt features and better looks in the future. For this to be the biggest sedan VW offers they really need to step up the game.

      CharlestonCarVideos I agreee 200% I owned an 08 Passat, probably the last year of getting one that was 4motion with bi-xenons, navigation, and leather with a 3.6 liter engine. That was a damn car! I let it go after 8 years due to problems racking upon problems! I’d be glad to get another Passat if VW gets its act together, now that the cost of ownership has gone down and reliability is better. Cheers to hoping VW gets its shit together for the next Passat! Sincerely, a person who likes VW for its lack of flashiness and taste!

      thank you for responding to my comment! I sometimes don't share my actual opinion of a vehicle due to not wanting to upset the dealerships I work for, but last night I felt it really needed to be said. i recently got a 2017 1.8T passat. my 1st vw brand...i got a really good deal. the car is very solid. love the leds. but the new 2018 2.0 passat having a bigger engine size still had same hp and torque as 1.8t..now thats odd. also hate that they removed the center time display. dont know why they made that decision. overall like my passat.

    Sir, excellent review of the Passat 2018. How does it compare to Jetta 2019? Even though the Jetta 2019 is a compact car not a sedan or family car? Currently, I have a Jetta 2016, but planning to upgrade to a family car in Volkswagen lineup.

    Hey Volkswagen fixed the problem with the stereo with all models car. The stereo is fake. The treble option sound in the car is not clear. The stereo cannot memorize the song after engine turned OFF then after turned engine ON the songs start from begin . The touch screen is not working well. I'm not satisfied from my new car Volkswagen SE 2017. With this problems all models Volkswagen needs recall and repair. Don't sell the cars on the market with this problems.

    I see people talking about a different engine, 1.8t now 2.0t, its the same people, its the same engine, take that plastic cover off from both 1.8 and 2.0 and its all the same, its got the same hp and same torque, they just changed it cuz it sounded small engine, and for my opinion R-Line should have a GTI engine with DSG transmission, then it would be a R-Line, what do you guys think?

    • @CarolinaCarVideos
      @CarolinaCarVideos  6 лет назад
