Emily Ashline I thought I read somewhere that it has a lowered sport suspension over the standard Passat, is that true and can you really tell the difference? Great car, it’s on my short list. Would take this over an Accord or Camry any day of the week! It’s also more affordable and with a better warranty!
Honestly. This looks like a great value sports car. But at the same time it looks decent on the outside and great on the inside. I really might buy one.
That's a perfect daily car to drive, love the plat bottom steering wheel, but dashboard looks plain. They could of put red trim around the air conditioner vent to match the grill, brake calipers. Anyway love your review keep doing what you doing. You doing an awesome job bro.😀👍
I like this better than the Jetta. It looks pretty sporty for what it is. The v-6 really helps. I agree with the exhaust tips, they look like a vacuum attachment or one that was round and was smashed. They also have a thin opening, looks like it restricts the exhaust flow. Pretty cool your students follow you ! Nice job

Really enjoyed your review. I am currently car shopping and this made my mind up. As a 52 year old I just can't see myself in the current fleet of buck Rogers starhip-esque designs like the Nissan Maxima and mazda6. I love the refined yet understated look. From the small splash of red to that slim hint of a spoiler. The car just says class to me. And with enough performance to make it fun.

Thanks - going to a single car soon and this package may be the deal. We have two 6 speed manuals, a Mazda 3 and E46 BMW, but the DCT seems like the answer for those whose left knee is toast but do NOT want a slip'n'slide automatic.

this cars got 4 cats. so when i took off literally just my mid muffler it opened her up so much and really really made it sound much better and slightly louder so i could actually hear exhaust over engine noise with windows down.
I don't care what anyone says. All l know is this and this the straight raw unflithered truth. I bought my 2018 Platinum gray GT back in August 2018. Since then, l have had at least 200 people give me verbal commitments about this car. Everywhere l go people stare as to wonder what it is. Someone stopped me today and said "thats one handsome car". Most of my friends has tried to convince me to put a tint on it l, but l have never had a tint and goes back and forth each day to get it done. Love the looks of this car, her name is Crystal!!

@@gavinthind3058 Only 24,000. Great deal. Not even 12,000 miles a year. Averaged out to be about 8,000 miles a year. The car is awesome with power, especially in sports mode. I say you'll the car.

Fender wasn't offered as a base option on this car, the GT was pretty much a set trim level. You could probably pay VW to install the fender system after the fact... Not sure on that one

@@canomalo3662 euro spec was slow AF and didn't get the VR6 DSG combo like we did for 2018. It's also more expensive. We get cheaper parts for a cheaper price but the car is more fun to drive. Sounds like a win to me.
Aside from the R34, i think i'm gonna lease a VW or Audi. Never had German car before so it'll be interesting to experience. Always liked the Passats styling
normally turbos nowadays last a very long time. but you still have to take care of them. heat them up before you beat the shot out of your car and cool them down before you shut off the car. change your oil religiously and use a high quality oil.

I always examine today's vehicle,especially VW and Audi and think/search: what is the aftermarket world doing with it?....some company somewhere has corrected its perceived flaws.
The VR6 from VW have the most interesting sound due to the fact it shares the same head,as the V6 is a very narrow 15 degree V angle. Def missed the Golf VR6 version. My fav Golf is def the Mk5 R32. Even for 250bhp. It able to keep up with the normal city traffic. Add a turbo and it can be a fast hot hatch and faster than the Golf R for using the same AWD 6 speed DSG. Those exahust tips are def decrorative rather than functional. The actual exhaust tail pipe is way smaller. Aftermarket exhaust is def the way to go if you want a slightly louder exhaust note esp from a VR6. This can be a good platform for a sleeper since the exterior looks normal other than a few sporty hints.

11:40 of course the GTI exhaust is more noticeable inside because it is a hatchback, there isn't a huge trunk to separate you from the outside, put the seats down in the Passat and you get the same effect of increased noise from the outside.

When I drove the GT I said the same thing as you, kind of wanted the exhaust to be louder but then I've realized what I wrote above, you just have to trust that it is there and doing a good job for you back there. :D
Why dont they make the info screen portable with a plug in option...just basic info in car dash...would keep the dash clean....maybe a backup small screen only
You are missing some very important information, for example, MPG City/Hwy, MSRP for that year, and model, does it come as a 4x4 or just FWD? These are the questions I wish you would address in your youtube presentations.
Depending on how you see this, Passats have some of the worst depreciation of any vehicle in the US. Over 50% in three years. However if you want one used, or know this information going into a new purchase can really use to your advantage. I’ve seen these brand new sold for 24K and. I think the MSRP is close to 31K? I’m torn between this, the GTI, or the new Jetta GLI which debuts later this year. Just found your channel and subscribed, look forward to watching your other videos!

BMW 5 series, Mercedes E series, Audi A6, and VW Passat are at the top of the list. Wonder why this is? Think it has to do with the popularity of SUV’s?
Ironically the GT is now the most sought after trim for 2018 and my car's value has been increasing year over year even with the increased mileage. I could sell it for almost what I paid brand new 3 years ago.

Shows how out of touch I am. I didn't even think students received, obtained, or "earned" or GIVEN grades anymore. Make no mistake though, YOU are being graded and Nurse Bertha gave you a 9+ on this review. Don't feel bad that you she didn't give you a 10 because I've never known her to give out a grade higher than 6. Of course you are her favorite teacher. I don't think you even have to have a car to review. You could just walk around and narrate a bird watch walk and she'd give you straight 9's if not 10's.
The new Passats don’t come with the V6 option now which is a downer. You can only get the 2.0 liter turbo charged four cylinder. These engines get good gas mileage but less power and more strain on the engine! I would love to find this Passat that’s low low mileage!
Nice.............BUT............... please STOP with the piano/gloss(dust, smudge -everything) black everything. Wish that V6 was making MUCH more power. Tuned is one thing & actually making use of that tuning is another. C'mon Dubb.

That's not really surprising, it's a Passat after all. And the NMS platform was clearly not well supported by VW. The fact that the Chattanooga employees got this approved by VW in the first place is nothing short of a miracle. 19 inch rims, lowered suspension compared to the other trims, appearance package, VR6 and DSG, phenomenal seating room. I mean it's still a great car and hard to beat for the price. Nobody buys a Passat expecting it to be anything else lol. Always been a family car
The GT was only built for the last 5 months of the 2018 model year. I'm surprised VW even gave the green light for this car. 2019 and onward Passats will be turbo 4 cylinder only.
Volkswagen Passat GT is just a name added to a regular Passat with some accent molding and a sporty front bumper nothing significant under the hood. VW and sporty/performance are words that do not belong in the same sentence.
Looks hideous (no disrespect to Emily). It's like a Hyundai has a groupy with a Audi R8 and out came this hideous half breed. There's nothing to like at all about it. Nothing works...but if you want to have an alternative to a Toyota Camry with more style and go, then sure, I can appreciate this. But overall, hideous.
Funny story, This generation of Passat was designed by the guy who designed the R8. This Passat will age well, and those new cutting edge Asian styled cars will likely not age well (design wise).

The Passat is one of the best bargains for any mid size sedan category. The base can be had for less than 18K !

I think the v6 in these cars are more reliable the turbo ones have a lot of carbon build up very complicated engines nd unreliable what u think?
The new generation turbo 4's do not have the same carbon build up issue as the older generation (mk6, mk5 ETC..)

I have the 2015 Passat 1.8. Get the APR tune done it is totally worth it.
The APR tunes are really great! I drove a Golf R with a stage 2 tune and it was really amazing!
@@overclockeverything2310 vr6 will still pull on a stage 2 1.8t. And having a dsg vs the 6speed auto is a huge advantage when accelerating
@@IReahpZz I had a 99 Jetta GLX VR6 I know the VR will pull on it all day has way more HP thats a given.

Does it come with a timing belt or chain? If belt then stay away because replacing a timing belt on a Passat V6 is a nightmare.
I believe they are still running a timing belt.
Raiti's Rides dang that sucks. The chain is part of what makes the new VW 2.0T engines so great.

The old 3.2 was 15 degrees, this 3.6 is like 10.5. It is known as a "wookie", because they sound a like! Look up VR6 WOOKIE.

Depending on how you see this, Passats have some of the worst depreciation of any vehicle in the US. Over 50% in three years. However if you want one used, or know this information going into a new purchase can really use to your advantage. I’ve seen these brand new sold for 24K and. I think the MSRP is close to 31K? I’m torn between this, the GTI, or the new Jetta GLI which debuts later this year. Just found your channel and subscribed, look forward to watching your other videos!

BMW 5 series, Mercedes E series, Audi A6, and VW Passat are at the top of the list. Wonder why this is? Think it has to do with the popularity of SUV’s?
I really appreciate you being so supportive of the channel! I think SUVs play a roll but I also think the high maintenance costs can play a big roll!
Ironically the GT is now the most sought after trim for 2018 and my car's value has been increasing year over year even with the increased mileage. I could sell it for almost what I paid brand new 3 years ago.

It can run on regular but you get the most power with premium I believe

Shows how out of touch I am. I didn't even think students received, obtained, or "earned" or GIVEN grades anymore. Make no mistake though, YOU are being graded and Nurse Bertha gave you a 9+ on this review. Don't feel bad that you she didn't give you a 10 because I've never known her to give out a grade higher than 6. Of course you are her favorite teacher. I don't think you even have to have a car to review. You could just walk around and narrate a bird watch walk and she'd give you straight 9's if not 10's.
They should make a v6 full performance Passat. Am talking turbo, cold air intake, performance tires, and others. Just imagine.

They are called "Tornado" wheels and were originally made for the Beetle Turbo when it had the GLI engine and a sports suspension.

@@simul8guy75 the CC had AWD and you could get it with the VR6 but it didn't have the DSG.
R36 Passat had it all. I've got one in Australia. DSG, 3.6, AWD, big brakes

The new Passats don’t come with the V6 option now which is a downer. You can only get the 2.0 liter turbo charged four cylinder. These engines get good gas mileage but less power and more strain on the engine! I would love to find this Passat that’s low low mileage!
Its so hard to find that red line edition in my city. Im really picky about looks. If i cant find that red colored line then i dont want it.

It was never intended as a "sports car". It's a sport sedan and it fills that role quite admirably.
Jetta GLI would be more correct as far as a "bargain performance sedan". Passat GT ? not so much. Budget Audi A6 ? Sure, I would be ok with that.

That's not really surprising, it's a Passat after all. And the NMS platform was clearly not well supported by VW. The fact that the Chattanooga employees got this approved by VW in the first place is nothing short of a miracle. 19 inch rims, lowered suspension compared to the other trims, appearance package, VR6 and DSG, phenomenal seating room. I mean it's still a great car and hard to beat for the price. Nobody buys a Passat expecting it to be anything else lol. Always been a family car
I won't drive a VW without a manual. I own a '10 CC 2.0T 6MT and it's a hoot. I'd trade for the GT if it had a stick though.

Far too late on the review, '18 is the last year for the GT. Might still be a few around.

The GT was only built for the last 5 months of the 2018 model year. I'm surprised VW even gave the green light for this car. 2019 and onward Passats will be turbo 4 cylinder only.

Volkswagen Passat GT is just a name added to a regular Passat with some accent molding and a sporty front bumper nothing significant under the hood. VW and sporty/performance are words that do not belong in the same sentence.

Looks hideous (no disrespect to Emily). It's like a Hyundai has a groupy with a Audi R8 and out came this hideous half breed. There's nothing to like at all about it. Nothing works...but if you want to have an alternative to a Toyota Camry with more style and go, then sure, I can appreciate this. But overall, hideous.

Funny story, This generation of Passat was designed by the guy who designed the R8.
This Passat will age well, and those new cutting edge Asian styled cars will likely not age well (design wise).
