Mine has the 2.5L naturally-aspirated inline 5 with the 5-speed manual. I actively had to seek out a manual version when I bought it. It is by far the most reliable car I've owned. I owned and drove a lot of American sedans before this and the Passat handles ages better than them! And that I can get up to 35 MPG on the highway is astonishing! Everyone always comments how fast it is (they just notice the torque because it's pretty slow getting up to speed). And I've spent way less on maintenance than any car I've owned. I've currently had it for about 9 years/75k miles and it's still running smoother and had fewer things go wrong than my friends' cars. Maybe I just got a really well-built one? *knocks on wood* I'll probably be one of the few that will miss it when it's discontinued, but I totally understand why.

Long time watcher, first time commenter here. I really appreciate this review because I have a 2012 Passat and it's awesome that RCR finally did a review about this generation.

I don't know what's it with Americans, all the German cars that Americans say are expensive to maintain and have all sorts of issues don't have any of those problems in Europe... He also talked a lot about the car and how it drove in this episode, a nice departure from philosophy and history.
I had a 1994 Passat GLX... bought it used, and I can absolutely vouch for the "F the next guy" mantra of the Passat. I think it was the beginning of the end.
Omg just got a 2021 passat pre owned with 45,000 miles I pray 🙏 I have no problems soon
How was your experience? Was it worth it?
VW tried a performance variant of the Passat called the GT which had a VR6 with 280hp…but it didn’t last since for a little bit more money you could get an Audi A4 with similar power and AWD.
Same reason they wont do a performance variant of the Arteon, because it’ll take away from Audi S5 sales….I mean the Arteon itself isn’t doing as well since you can just get an A5 that’s similar but with a better B R A N D on the front
The fking Big Pimpin' quote had me dying 🤣🤣🤣
The references are strong with this one. RIP to Patrice O’Neill
As someone who drives a 2012 Passat TDI, the amount of stuff that this car shares with a car 10 years older than it is just sad
my dad bought an '08 passat with a 6 speed manual. it's one of the nicest cars i've driven in terms of comfort. it's super quite, and the clutch is the smoothest and easiest clutch i've ever used.
Finally!!! Finally!!!! Thank you so much! I bought a Passat to flip far into the issues....I know own a Passat which I wouldn't trust going farther than 10miles from my house or shop. It owes to so much labour I can never sell this thing.
