Can you use contact lens solution or something that will work as well as calibration solution? I'm asking because no one in my area sells it and I dont want to wait for it if I purchase it on line. Thnx.
Yes, this is perfect for beginner to advanced. Tropic Eden is one of the most heavy duty versions. RedSea is a good one too. Then we also have our own brand which is good quality and less money but Tropic Eden and Sybon are the best quality construction. They are made by the same manufacture.
I would agree that using RO water (reverse osmosis) is not a good way to zero out your meter, if indeed I heard you correctly. But using _distilled_ water to zero it out _is_ recommended by the marine scientists I've seen giving instruction on using and calibrating refractometers for sea water salinity testing.

Ok , great effort , but , will the colour of water effect the reading?
I still need to order one of these!!
I could use one of those. I'm still using a hydrometer. Great vid on how to correctly use a refractometer.
I love my Milwaukee Digital Refractometer. It's effortless.
I find refractometers easier and more accurate to use then a hydrometer.
Thanks fpr you help
Hi dude awesome video I’ve subbed because I would love to have a load of fish lovers ( a community)
