Do I need an expensive refractometer? They range in price from $14 to $150! I did order the one from your link. I was just wondering jf it is a good one.
I need help I bought refractometer form Amazon using about a year now I test with RO 1010 and test with saltwater it’s 1025 what’s I should to do Thank you
We need a video comparing results from a hydrometer/ refractometer. My mentor, an old school reefer, visited me and measured salinity with his hydrometer. It was 1.021. My refractometer says 1.025. He doesn't believe my refractometer. Ugh. I'm so confused.
so details, easier to learn, bravo 👏👏
Thank you for this clear presentation
You're very welcome, I'm glad it was helpful.
That shirt is cool! Ik calibrate it every time i make a new batch.
Thanks I'm a huge Star Wars fan! Making sure it's calibrated every time is a great way to make sure you mix up the same. Awesome thanks for watching!
Is this specifically for salt water tanks I have a chilids tank
Yes this is for any aquarium that required you to monitor the salinity parameters.
@@juanlanda967 and I'm using it for my African chilids tank
@@juanlanda967 Thanks for clarifying it

No need for an expensive one. The $18 to 20 dollar seawater one works great and holds calibration really well. I am happy with it.
@@TheCoralReefTalk Thank you! I ordered it from your link!

Hey there, use a calibration solution to calibrate it and then it should measure your Rodi water correctly as well as the saltwater.
@@TheCoralReefTalk thank you

What Happens if the room temperature is higher than 20c
saltwater refractometer sg 1.026 and 35 ppt don't line up on the red sea and the D-D they are sg 1.027 for 35ppt
really that is interesting.
You can use between 1.025 to 1.027 for a reef tank.
Yes there can be a range. Keeping that parameter stable is key as well.
Whatever you people do do not buy the Red Sea refractometer it is total crash trash
