As a saltwater only person, I love the tank, it’s not overpopulated at all, and I really recommend all the people to try out a coral tank! It’s so relaxing and I haven’t done water changes in almost a year
@ I will be trying a 53 gallon. And I will take it slow, I will try with a canister filter at first, biomaster 250. Great one in my opinion. I am starting with dry rock, maybe a piece of live rock. I am getting a wavemaker as well. And thinking about a sump later on. Its alot to take in.
I feel like salt is for dignified people with patience. I have expensive caradina shrimp in a tank that’s full of pearl weed (by design, I’m convinced they love it) salt is kind of sterile. It’s pretty in its own way but I like scapes that look grown in and you catch glimpses of the fish and livestock. When you sit long enough they all come out. I guess you can do that with salt but it has to take ages. Maybe when I’m more dignified. If that ever happens.
I'm not into saltwater normally, but this tank looks absolutely amazing. The Makroalgae give a fresh look to it... Don't know about stocking, but you did say this tank isn't the forever home of the fish, so it'll be okay anyways... very beautiful all in all, and less to buy than I thought
This is a beautiful aquarium. I have a dream of building out a tropical reef vivarium with a healthy coral reef habitat under some volcanic rock hardscape and with a tree trunk leading to a canopy. I know that project is beyond reality, but I absolutely love seeing content like this with healthy coral reef biomes. Always gets me daydreaming again
It's important to add a variety of empty snail shells to the tank - as your hermits grow they will need to grab a new house. On this note, they display fascinating behaviour. When selecting a new shell, they will examine it carefully to determine whether it is a "lefty" (a small percentage of snails coil in the opposite direction). When they are happy, they will "spin" the shell so as to allow any sand to fall out of it. They are very smart little critters and very curious about random objects you add to the tank.
I got into the aquarium hobby when LED's were just a wet dream. Its hard to describe how much cheaper and easier it is to keep coral now compared to 20+ years ago thanks to all the improvements in equipment.
Love the setup!! Beautiful. Just be careful of the clowns jumping, I've had one jump in the past but luckily I was near the tank. Got a screen next the next day. Keep up the great videos buddy.
I’m really into nano builds. I’m pretty busy at times, and I’ve had large tanks. It just gives you flexibility to do other things when you’re on nano builds. Awesome video sir.
Nice wee setup you did. I was always made to think that saltwater aquariums were much harder to keep, which is why I stayed away from them, but looking at your experience of this setup it doesn't seem to be the case. I know Clown fish are so common but they are spectacular. Love your channel mate and keep up with the excellent content.
Gosh i love your setups. The only complaint I have is the length of the videos is shorter than I like, but i'm one of those "~hour long are my favorite" types. I like the watch you work style videos, like the "Other 'M'" aquascaper tends to do, i just wanna be there. These shorter tutorial types are nice, but always makes me wish i could experience more.
Thanks especially for the cost breakdown, that was very informative. It's an important topic for beginners, in my mind, and still mostly it will be not talked about. 👍👍👍
looks very nice, i love that it doesn't have that usual very blue cold light, most salt water tanks have, just very bright vivid one, total result worth it 100% looking forward for more salt water projects from you
haha, 'I'm already thinking about a bigger salt water aquarium". That is so true. I love my salt aquarium but it always feels like we want to upgrade. I'm glad to see you are going into salt water. If you want some more information on saltwater and how to take care of them and other types of corals I'd love to answer some questions. I've been keeping tanks for my whole life
I would love to be friends with this guy. So easy going and relaxing. I really enjoy your videos brother. Keep up the great work. Tanks all look amazing
Nice! I've got a four figure nano reef as well. No regrets, but it is amazing how quick the costs run up. Not overstocked. IMO and IME, your tank stocked just right! Looks like you are doing fine without a protein skimmer. I've got one, but it doesn't pull out a lot, and I actually have to dose nitrates and phosphates to get them above 0 and ward off dynoflagellates, as well as keep the corals happy. I look forward to seeing updates on this, and any future saltwater tanks you do.
If you want to make a cheap salt Walter you def can, a lot of people is scared to start a salt water cause money and difficulty, but it’s actually really easy with macro Alghee and easy corals, You don’t even have to spend that much, just go for a yellow light instead of blue (if you go soft corals and alghe) or a freshwater rgb light is fine as well Wave maker it’s not always a need, really depends from the tank you have and the habitants you choose, Just make sure to buy a really good salt and the game is set!
That urchin will end up eating the macro algae unfortunately, beautiful scape once again. Not overstocked at all! the clownfish will need a bigger home, but for now that should be perfect for them :)
Great little tank! I never had any luck with hermit crabs they just murder each other until 1 is left 😅 Clowns are super cute! Wait until they start biting you when you clean the glass 🤣 I wouldn't worry about the stocking levels either. The Macro algae will suck up any nutrients super fast!
Amazing tank....did however choke on my coffee when you mentioned the overall price!!! Does not take away from how great it looks though! would love to build a tank like this one day
Congratulation. Nice tank. I'm thinking about stop maintaining fresh water one and shift to marine tank. Have the same filter and size of tank. Question: How many times did you cleaned the Oase filter during this 100days? And as I see well, no need additional protein skimmer??? Thanks
Love everything about this setup. I just received a 16-gallon tank for Christmas and was thinking it would be for swordfish and cory fry... but I really want to try a reef tank!
This is really nice but I will enjoy my friend’s salt tanks. The clownfish are beautiful. My preference is a nice freshwater planted tank. Thanks for the journey.
so I don't have an aquarium at all but when I do get one it's definitely going to be a saltwater tank. I just love the movement of certain corals and the colors!
Don't undersell your skill, this was easy cause you are a pro in the aquarium hobby! It's an a amazing reef, I would love to try, but my fresh water tank is already one big algea fest ...
I feel that 13 gal is not bad for the stocking. I have 9 fish in my 40 galon and is doing fine. You have been testing the water, and it is all fine. Love the resut.
Thats awesome man! I have a tank with essentially the same setup (Wheeler goby Same exact pistol shrimp and clownfish Though my clown is 1 normal 1 black) But gotta say, Your tank definetly looks better than mine!

@MJAquascaping yes the tubing connection between pipes and canister. I will have a look of them - do you remember the diameter? And another big like for the fact you still answer to the comments, even if the video is now recently uploaded.
how were you able to add to clownfish to a tank that small i rly want a clown fish but i looked it up and it says you cant with a 10 g is it a special type of clowfish
Looks beautiful, MJ ✨ I loved the fish choices, I will probably use this video as inspiration very soon... As always, it's a big pleasure to watch your videos. Thanks for sharing your passion with us. P.S. Suggestions if you do decide to name the clown fish: Flow, Lumen (cause that color lightup was amazing), Blue, Nori, Gulf. Cheers 🙏🏼☺️
So very interesting! I love how almost everything in the tank is active , a very different energy to the serenity of a planted fresh water scape, I think. Especially like the view from the side :) I wonder if you found that the all - in - one tank of your first salt water scape is an easier way to go re equipment ??
Whew! that's a lot of money! But i believe in Europe, livestock is very expensive 😓 The hardware is definitely good standard 😊 the filter, light and wavemaker are VITAL for fish + microalgae. I had a 25 litre pico tank for nearly 12 years! It was just a cube with a $59 light and an airstone+ tiny heater. All i did was scrape the glass and give a 20litre water change every week. No fish, just a hermit+ algae snails. But i had some lovely corals , even some hard corals. But not having fish meant it was very little maintenance, 30 mins a week. I eventually moved it to my work, everyone liked our little reef; it was quite the talking point. Unfortunately we had a heat wave and the elevated temp killed everything 😢
So I was told by my lfs that I have to wait at least 6 months before adding any coral or anemone. I see you added them almost right away. How does that work?
Who’s going to set up an aquarium and wait 6 months… As long as you don’t have high ammonia levels you should be fine with adding corals after a few weeks.
It's definitely overstocked, but I think it should be fine since you have an external canister filter and not a HOB or AIO setup. I'd remove the urchin because it will grow too big, and as soon as it starts eating algae faster than it can grow, it will turn on the macro algae. Personally, I would also give the clownfish more space, but if they start hosting something, they stop using the space anyway. It's fine for the goby and the shrimps, though.
Hello, j'adore tes bacs d'eau douce et là c'est vraiment top que tu fasses du marin !!!! je commence également un projet marin alors oui on veut + d'info .
I am from Brazil, and I have a salt water tank that cost me less then R$1500(240 euros aproach) My tank have a clown fish couple, more than 15 corals, 2 snails, 2 hermit crabs, and 1 peppermint shrimp. I used cheap light and equipments to setup this tank, that's the reason for de cheap price. But I also think that the animal's prices here are cheaper, that's maybe another reason for the lower price.
Was wondering how small you could go with a reef tank. Would it be technically possible to put some corals in a 10l dooa neoglass air. Would be quite an interesting experiment as this would not be only a more affordable but also a space saving solution 😁
This is not overstocked - You may notice you Urchin eating all the macro algae soon haha ( I can relate ) Not sure if you added copepods early on in the process but adding a few bottles wouldnt hurt!

As a saltwater only person, I love the tank, it’s not overpopulated at all, and I really recommend all the people to try out a coral tank! It’s so relaxing and I haven’t done water changes in almost a year
are you talking about solely coral and no livestock?
What is your setup? Canister or a sump?
@ I have two AIO, a fluval evo 13.g and an innovative marine 20g, I definitely recommend AIO for tanks under 30g

This tank looks seriously cool. freshwater guy myself but every day i'm more tempted to try this out
You inspired me to start aquascaping. Please keep exploring saltwater aquariums. I want to learn more as well!
Will do!

The salt water tank is refreshing content. Also one i dont much about and can learn with you. Thank you!
Glad you enjoy it!
Great looking nano tank! Love it! 😍
Thanks Danny!
This is one of the prettiest tanks you ever made!!! It's so pretty

Beautiful! I’m excited to start my Journey and thank you for the guide and the 100 days! Best video I’ve found on YT
Very informative video. Since I always planned a saltwater tank in the future, this small one might be the idea I needed to begin with. Appreciate it.
Go for it!
Love the setup!! Beautiful. Just be careful of the clowns jumping, I've had one jump in the past but luckily I was near the tank. Got a screen next the next day. Keep up the great videos buddy.

They are!

This is so awesome. this is a very manageable size tank and can fit almost anywhere. Ty for this video!
Saltwater livestock just look like so much fun! Those clownfish are adorable!
They are!

Beautiful tank MJ. Back when you set up your first salt tank it inspired me to set one up too. Now I have three salt setups 😂 have a happy weekend.
That’s awesome to hear 😎
Man I always thought u needed skimmers and whatever… that it was really technical and all but this seems really managable!

Thank you for showing me how to do a reef tank with lily pipes. I love the aesthetics so much.
Wonderfull, thank you. Well, your experience show us that it is possible to have something small and nice, easy to maintain. Some day perhaps...

Köszönet a legújabb videóért. Remekül sikerült bemutatni a sósvizes akváriumot. Szuper
You should make a video comparing freshwater and saltwater setups, I think it would be a good idea.
YES I wanna see this!!!
Outstanding! Would live to see more reef builds!

Wow! You did a great job with this reef tank. Great job! ❤️🔥💯
Not overstocked at all. Just right 👍
Loved your work..truly hats off to u
That urchin will end up eating the macro algae unfortunately, beautiful scape once again. Not overstocked at all! the clownfish will need a bigger home, but for now that should be perfect for them :)
I’m feeding the urchin with Nori sheets at the moment 😁 hopefully the macro algae will grow faster than he can eat it 😁
Great little tank! I never had any luck with hermit crabs they just murder each other until 1 is left 😅
Clowns are super cute! Wait until they start biting you when you clean the glass 🤣
I wouldn't worry about the stocking levels either. The Macro algae will suck up any nutrients super fast!
This is great! Been scared of trying a small water tank and I may not put as much as you in, but maybe one day I’ll try it!
Amazing tank....did however choke on my coffee when you mentioned the overall price!!! Does not take away from how great it looks though! would love to build a tank like this one day
Ended up beautiful! Clown fish are so cute. Enjoy it!
Congratulation. Nice tank.
I'm thinking about stop maintaining fresh water one and shift to marine tank. Have the same filter and size of tank.

0:34 ant ! greatings and saltypeace ^^
Love the salt water tank, youre the GOAT MJ
Cool tank , looks really nice!
This is really nice but I will enjoy my friend’s salt tanks. The clownfish are beautiful. My preference is a nice freshwater planted tank. Thanks for the journey.
End result os beautiful, mate!
MJ, it's beautiful ❤️ might as well follow your example and make one for myself 😊
so I don't have an aquarium at all but when I do get one it's definitely going to be a saltwater tank. I just love the movement of certain corals and the colors!
Don't undersell your skill, this was easy cause you are a pro in the aquarium hobby! It's an a amazing reef, I would love to try, but my fresh water tank is already one big algea fest ...

Question: do i really need a skimmer for a 15 gallon tank?
Saltwater live stocks definitely nicer and more variety. Looking forward to more builds from your channel. Cheers!
Add a tail spot Blenny they are great for algae management and are super personable !
Thats awesome man! I have a tank with essentially the same setup (Wheeler goby Same exact pistol shrimp and clownfish Though my clown is 1 normal 1 black) But gotta say, Your tank definetly looks better than mine!
I love the Clownfish and the Goby/Shrimp-combo. If I was going to set up something like this, they would definately be included. Can't beat the colours that come with a salt water aquarium, imo.
The tank doesn't look overstocked to me, but I am no expert.
Maybe someday...
Thank you so much for your video. I really like the way you present the tank. Looks beautiful. I've got 3 freshwater tanks running and want to go into saltwater, but I'm always afraid it's too time-consuming.
That light gives a such a beautiful blue. Look soooo nature compare to the neon dark blue of other reef light.
I think so too!
Beautiful tank mj you make it look early
I made my first saltwater tank after watching the first build and its been pure joy since then
Awesome 😎
Fantastic video and such a beautiful nano reef tank. New subscriber 👍
Thanks for the sub!
wonderful tank ! Thanks for this Video and thanks for say all prices :)
Do u use sucker fish to clean the glass from inside?
Beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Very beautiful tank
Clownfish live for 20+ years. You should name them, they’ll be part of your family.
This is dope!
How do you control the evaporation with the open top tank
I add a little bit of RO water every few days
Big Like MJ!!! Very equilibrated tank, simple and very beautiful. I hope to continue this nice passion and upload new videos. One question: what kind of pipes you have used between Oase canister and lily pipes, I mean in that kit do you have anything for connection of the canister to the tank?
Do you mean the grey filter tubing? That’s called “filter hose pro” it’s made by Chihiros
@MJAquascaping yes the tubing connection between pipes and canister. I will have a look of them - do you remember the diameter?
And another big like for the fact you still answer to the comments, even if the video is now recently uploaded.
@ the tubing is 12/16 mm 😊
Great looking reef tank!
Thanks!
how were you able to add to clownfish to a tank that small i rly want a clown fish but i looked it up and it says you cant with a 10 g is it a special type of clowfish
Looks beautiful, MJ ✨ I loved the fish choices, I will probably use this video as inspiration very soon... As always, it's a big pleasure to watch your videos. Thanks for sharing your passion with us.
P.S. Suggestions if you do decide to name the clown fish:
Flow, Lumen (cause that color lightup was amazing), Blue, Nori, Gulf.
Cheers 🙏🏼☺️
I’m happy you like it Cecilia 😊 hope you are doing well
So how u treat the po4 and no3 ?!
And did the sponge produces the po4 ?!
So very interesting! I love how almost everything in the tank is active , a very different energy to the serenity of a planted fresh water scape, I think. Especially like the view from the side :) I wonder if you found that the all - in - one tank of your first salt water scape is an easier way to go re equipment ??
Yeah the AIO tanks are definitely an easier option😊
Can you please make a step by step tutorial on a budget friendly tank under $100 (eg). With the coral reef please.
Is a waver maker a must or I can use a stronger canister filter?
Stronger canister works as well!
Whew! that's a lot of money! But i believe in Europe, livestock is very expensive 😓
The hardware is definitely good standard 😊 the filter, light and wavemaker are VITAL for fish + microalgae.
I had a 25 litre pico tank for nearly 12 years! It was just a cube with a $59 light and an airstone+ tiny heater. All i did was scrape the glass and give a 20litre water change every week. Unfortunately we had a heat wave and the elevated temp killed everything 😢
Yo….this is dope!
Hey what reef rock did you use?
What do you feed your fish and corals, and do u use any fertilizer for macro algae?
WOW great vid!
Nice nano reef
کارت درسته ❤🎉
that ant in the tank at 35 secs in was so out of nowhere
So I was told by my lfs that I have to wait at least 6 months before adding any coral or anemone. I see you added them almost right away. How does that work?
Who’s going to set up an aquarium and wait 6 months…
As long as you don’t have high ammonia levels you should be fine with adding corals after a few weeks.
@@MJAquascaping That is what I though. I was told I need to wait for the tank to mature which I though was a bit much
this is absolutely beautiful i whish i had one
I am from Brazil, and I have a salt water tank that cost me less then R$1500(240 euros aproach)
My tank have a clown fish couple, more than 15 corals, 2 snails, 2 hermit crabs, and 1 peppermint shrimp.
I used cheap light and equipments to setup this tank, that's the reason for de cheap price. But I also think that the animal's prices here are cheaper, that's maybe another reason for the lower price.
what about the protein skimmer ? is it not mandatory?
I think it's only needed in big tanks with a lot of fish and sensitive corals
@@MJAquascaping thanks for ur reply man!
Mooie tank. Wel een dure hobby dat zoute water 😊
Ja zeker wel een stukje duurder als zoet
So you don't need a protein skimmer for a saltwater aquarium of this size???
Maybe only if you want to keep sensitive corals
Was wondering how small you could go with a reef tank. Would it be technically possible to put some corals in a 10l dooa neoglass air. Would be quite an interesting experiment as this would not be only a more affordable but also a space saving solution 😁
Looks great even though too small for clownfish
Do you keep the tank under white light when not filming or more blues?
The white looks beautiful
Really cool, but, a sea urchin with macro algae?
This is not overstocked - You may notice you Urchin eating all the macro algae soon haha ( I can relate ) Not sure if you added copepods early on in the process but adding a few bottles wouldnt hurt!
Is toch een goede reden om een grotere aquarium te nemen te veel diertjes hihi
Looks awesome 👍
