That tool assisted air strafe is smooth af! Incidentally, based on explanation video, I assume proper bhop was used, but in TAS strafes are just really fast?
it basically uses controller input hence you can look in any direction while strafing. As a result it looks like speed is magically gained with no strafing but that isnt the case
@@DookJob Valve put a speed cap for bhopping which means that even if you do "bhop" you don't go extremely fast so it isn't really a glitch. It's basically just jumping to go a tiny bit faster for a tiny bit of time. If it were actual bhopping you would be gaining more speed the more you string bhop's together. The real movement glitch is abh which isn't allowed because it IS a glitch that allows you to get past the speed cap and go extremely fast.
I love how some of the techniques are identical to what I was running in 2007-08. But with the optimisation and perfect inputs of a TAS, it can be done in well less than a third of what I was ever capable of. I was getting 30-35 minute times back in 08, which was never top of the leaderboard but were good times. Example 6:55 this testchamber is exactly the same method that I was using over a decade a go, but I couldn't do it in ten times this length of time XD. I had been using an extra portal to drop the box on the second button, but someone came up with the extra throw for the box, if you got that right you'd save a few seconds. Now a TAS does the whole testchamber in, what, 5-6 seconds? Really cool.
