Really looking forward to Modulus! This looks to be taking the Shapez concept to the next dimension, and upping the verisimilitude with the blocks you craft being visible components. The factory logistics and automation genre is really taking off, and there’s a clear niche you are looking to fill. Can’t wait to see your takes on addressing the two big challenges in the genre - mid / long range logistics and how to onboard players to complex systems!
Thank you for your thoughtful comment and for recognizing the challenges we're tackling. It means a lot! You’re absolutely right that nailing these aspects is crucial. We’re currently working hard on the onboarding system and preparing for an upcoming playtest. Your feedback would be invaluable! If you like join our Discord to get early access and help us shape the game: 🎮✨ discord.gg/QbTr9bFqTF
3:13 - how would the engine handle it if someone designed a loop into their factory, feeding back items into a prior step? If it starts at the end and then goes back, the loop could send th eengine looking once again at a further machine.
It's great to see a couple of games coming out in the automation genre that are switching things up a little with modular block composition as building elements. This was an immediate wishlist for me. Can't wait to see more of the dev process.
Looks like a absolute blast. I visited you at gamescom when "You suck at parking wasn't out yet". That game turned out great and I am also looking forward to this one. Keep up the good work
I don't know how to describe it properly, but I like how "components" here are not just numbers and names. Remember how in Factorio it requires 2500 iron plates to craft everything needed for a single sattelite? Well, in this game every needed "component", each "cost" explained physically, you have to use actual blocks to make actual parts to complete the design (just like in Shapez you reassemble and combine actual parts of a shape into a new one).
While this isn't an "infinite builder", it's ultimately something even better because Shapez end game at the moment is mostly MAM construction with no real goal. Something that looks like a city builder but is a factory builder can make the goal more attractive, and being logical and, in fact, always logical for "there's no finding better shape to start with" can make the game less like a spreadsheet and more like actual process designing that most people wouldn't have a chance to do in real life. (Even me who works in automation industry doesn't got the chance because I'm on the packaging side, and I only got to code the system rather than actually use it to make things.)
I just love the art style and the core mechanic, I can't wait to play it!!! I'd like to know more about if the game is going to get a story, an end goal, and how many types of building will there be?
The game doesn’t have a 'traditional story', but it does feature a narrative setting and world. We’re still early in development, so stay tuned. Future updates will dive deeper into the endgame vision and the intricacies of the building mechanics.
Looks really promising, I wonder what the goals will be, since just creating to create will only be fun for a limiting time. But I see endless possibilities 😊
Amazing game and ideas are really novel, will buy for sure. Please consider making conveyor turns animated, it's one of the most satisfying things in factory games!
I really enjoyed how when you start one of the later levels of Infinifactory, they seem to be literally impossible, but then you somehow manage to complete 10 *things* and get the itch to optimize. I hope this game might deliver a similar feeling. I still look at the gif I made of my maximum input Docking Clamp production line from time to time, just because it's so satisfying how efficient it is.
So if I understand correctly... you will design custom made building parts, like columns, walls, and produce them in your factories. These blocks will enable you to build your next custom version of factories. So what else could you build? Could you design voxel vehicles? Lets say tanks? Or receive orders for objects or vehicles with various specifications that you have to design and produce? Whats the ultimate goal for the factory. It cant just be factory.
I was already hooked at the factory automation bit, this is probably one of the most interesting factory automation games I've seen, I'm curious to see how large of a factory people can make and what the endgame structures are going to be like, also do we get trains??
You may have missed an opportunity to make the inner part of a constructor like a small Infinifactory level on it‘s own. So the player could design small construction lines within the buildings with cutters, welders, etc. 😃
Your guys art style is great, but the AA looks.. strange in most of your clips. I feel like there is a lot of distracting flickering/shimmering in the final image.
It's interesting to see that you arrived to the same artstyle conclusions Industries of Titan team did, may that game rest in peace (or actually better yet get some updates).
We want you to build massive, sprawling factories in Modulus, but since we’re still early in development, those expansive environments aren’t fully in place yet. Right now, we’re focused on optimizing performance to make those grand factories possible. What you see in this video and the trailer is just an early look and not representative of the final game. Stay tuned for more updates as we bring this vision to life! 🚀
Will Unity actually be able to handle factory type game on a larger scale? Or guess my question is, will Modulus support building some kind of a mega base, just like in Factorio?
The clock thing and updating from the end of the production lines... I'm sure the programmer(s) are very proud, I know I would be, but as a player... whatevers. Tell me about the gameplay. I still don't get the core loop here. I'd be curious to see how the blocks get used, if you can design the blocks yourself what motivates that decision? why not just leave them all as white cubes? P.S. the visual style is real nice, lovin it.
@@Capumaraca I guess that's fair, it just doesn't feel like a dev blog, it feels more like a trailer, the what even is this trailer that comes after shiny bling trailer
Thank you so much for the feedback, it’s greatly appreciated! This is our first devlog, so we’re still figuring out what our community is most interested in. That’s why we chose to cover a variety of topics to see what resonates. You’re absolutely right, though, we need to make it clearer why you’re building the modules. Looks like we’ve already got the topic for our next devlog! 😄
Can the assembly line be raised above the ground, or is the stacking of the buildings more like increasing the number of operations at that specific place? Regardless, looks amazing!
You can expand your buildings by adding extra levels using additional modules. These modules are sent directly to the building via the same conveyor belt.
It. I wonder if there to relax than build a shipping system prefab factory. Although it simple it might be possible to create portable home, factory. Like those shipping container since it module but it has it own pros and cons but since it for low income people or remote area is either easy and hard. Since block base then is possible to build platform to move the buildings right? it remind of the spaceX crawlers wheels. Oh right spaceship launch for module blocks. Just over thinking thing since it relax game. It next good is build spaceship and launch a space stations.
hmm factory 👀
Did you know, that in modulus, you can turn a small box, into BIG box.
Go back to Gleba, you beautiful bastard
Oh no
of course you are here
I bet you can SMELL the factory already
I really like the idea of the components being actually the building blocks of the machines and other buildings

This game looks really interesting! Can't wait to see how it is :)
I am absolutely in love with this game's art style!

I adore the art style you've already got here. Looking forward to seeing more from you.
It’s nice to see humans now share they progress.
I love the contrast between the futuristic buildings and the cozy natural things. Want more like ponds and flowers
The Artstyle is gorgoeus.
Looks like a absolute blast. I visited you at gamescom when "You suck at parking wasn't out yet". That game turned out great and I am also looking forward to this one. Keep up the good work
Really liking the approach you are taking, with the teaser trailer and this initial devlog - please keep it up!
This looks awesome. An interesting and unique take on the genre - can’t wait to play it!
Love the idea of producing building blocks that are used in construction, would be great to see an intricate city builder with this
This looks like a cross between Dyson Sphere and Shapez 2, I love it!

I'm too hype for this games OMGG
I just love the art style and the core mechanic, I can't wait to play it!!!

@happyvolcanogames Thanks, can't wait to have more infos!
This game is gorgeous! I'd love to see city-builder games take some art cues from this.
Oh that's what designing blocks is for. Pretty cool.
I like the game's design. Pastel colors, plain and simple appearance. Nothing what would distract. Like architects' sketchbook.
Looks really promising, I wonder what the goals will be, since just creating to create will only be fun for a limiting time. But I see endless possibilities 😊
Really excited to see how this turns out! Good work folks, thanks for sharing.
Guys, you hyped me up, count me in the buyers.
Cant wait for this one
Amazing game and ideas are really novel, will buy for sure. Please consider making conveyor turns animated, it's one of the most satisfying things in factory games!
Also I really like that on steam page the trailer is in 60 fps and has crispy clean graphics, would like if devlogs were like that as well 💛
This really reminds me of Infinifactory. It seems like the production is totally different though. Looks fun!
I really enjoyed how when you start one of the later levels of Infinifactory, they seem to be literally impossible, but then you somehow manage to complete 10 *things* and get the itch to optimize. I hope this game might deliver a similar feeling.

Awesome!

Modulus Inception!
Introducing %.
damn youtube is destroying the video quality, consider messing with export settings

Shapez but less abstract?
I'm in.
It's interesting to see that you arrived to the same artstyle conclusions Industries of Titan team did, may that game rest in peace (or actually better yet get some updates).
Same art director :D
@happyvolcanogames Oh. That's a little bittersweet.
I'm glad for you tho.
It's hard to tell from this video but it looks like the play area is rather limited, is this actually the case?

did you miss the "devlog" part in the title?

Reminds me of Shapez.
Dyson Sphere Program meets Shapez.
Looks like Shapez but 3d

so shapez 3?
👀
from shapes2 to shapes^2
Shapes%2 :D
I have a question, is mod support planned?
We would love to have mod support in the game. We are doing research on how to best implement this, but no promises yet.
Can I run doom on this?
You can certainly try!
glorious 10 fps
