My Oculus Quest 2 is able to find my laptop that I’m running pc vr on but it says that I need a wired connection. I am getting a ethernet cable and adapter today and hope it will run correctly.
It is recommended to use a wired connection from your PCVR or laptop to your router to get the best possible connection. You can still use wifi though but you might run into performance issues. The connection from your head set to your router though, using air link, steam link, or virtual desktop, is always over wifi. No cable required. Hope that all helps.
How come whenever i open steam link it goes straight to that Lobby thingy and i dont see my library. Also quality is like 480p and kinda blurry.. but VD has no issues for me.
Thanks for the tutorial, my wife wants some shooting games on OQ 2 so I'm gonna get Alyx while its on sale! But a question, does GPU affects the connection quality or just graphics? I have an old RX570 8gb, with my PC wired connection to my mesh router. THANKS!!!
The GPU drives the graphics of the game. Your connection quality is largely down to the connection between your headset and PC (be that either over a wired cable or wirelessly via a wifi router).
One question when I have steam vr through my headset I see the app or play a game with pass through as well,, does that mean my wifi connection is poor, also it says wired cable should be connected to your pc but I use a laptop with no ethernet connection, regards
Pass through has nothing to do with wifi. It is always recommended to have an Ethernet cable connecting your pc to your router for the best possible signal, if it works for you without it though then great.
Just backing up the other replies. Internet connection doesn't have to be great, but you do need a decent internal wireless network. Whatever router your ISP provides will likely be good enough if it's new.
what can i do if my quest 2 doesn't find my pc even if they are both in the same network basicly my problem is that both are searching but the pc can't be found by the vr headset
@@MyTechGearGaming hey yes i tried restarting both devices but it did not work so i reconnected them to the network and after doing that twice it somehow worked out
Great to hear you got it sorted. It is early days so bound to be some teething issues. Hopefully your comments help out others who might have a similar issue too.
Steam Link quality for me has been absurdly good so far. It works flawlessly, I just hope Valve can get a version of SSW/GSR to work with it to make it perfect. For now I'll be sticking with VD, but maybe since the Steam Deck has FSR 2.1 support in driver level, we could hope to get FSR3 on SteamVR
@michaelnator1869 usual issue is either you don’t have steam vr installed on your pc or your headset isn’t up to date or your pc has outdated steam or graphics drivers.
When connecting the Quest 3 to the PC via USB-C - are you able to play non-steamVR games in VR? For example DCS world? Do you add the game to steamVR or is there something else? I’m close to getting one but there are some games I want to play in VR that I don’t have on steam. Playing wired is a must for me as my internet connection won’t be up to it. Thanks in advance
Thanks for the info! You look like a nice and genuine guy. I hope your channel will grow even bigger :)
Awesome tutorial! But if I'm using a Quest 2 headset, then will this new method work?
Steam link works with quest 2 and quest 3 exactly the same way.
Oh I see.
1:37 if the game is in your library but not installed yet, are you able to install it purely on your headset and not on your pc? is that possible?
PCVR games run on your PC, not your headset. Your headset is basically just a monitor connected to your PC.
Guys how to fix error 451 video not streaming

@@MyTechGearGaming Mine just always say that steam link requires a ethernet cable and after I got mine it just say host connection was lost. 😑

When ever I try to download steam link it won’t let me. The download button is just gray and not letting me do anything. Do you know how to fix this?
Make sure your headset firmware is up to date. After that do a hard restart of your headset and try again.
What if I live in a bad area with tettible ISPs. Do you think my 250mbps can keep up with steam link? If not I plan to buy a cable.
Your internet has nothing to do with steam link. It’s using your local wifi in your house to connect your headset to your PC.

u can add games to steam that arent made/bought on steam, wink
you will use the oculus desktop to acess wiindows and all games and stuff bro
Why not just connect it to the headset its why quest sux
You can connect over a wired or wireless connection. It’s up to you. Steam Link just makes it really easy to connect over wifi.
