Hey found your channel as I’m looking to grab some things to make my first set up! What do you recommend I’m stuck between NTS-1, Volca keys or FM, monotron delay and probably a pocket operator to go with. Any advice for a beginner?
Nice! Those are all good pieces of gear. I think if you ask 100 people this question you will get 100 different answers, because it's ultimately very subjective.Whatever inspires you the most is the best option. I personally prefer grooveboxes over synthesizers since they are like getting multiple synths, a drum machine, and effects, all in one device. Its cheaper that way to start, and you don't need to worry about syncing multiple devices and introducing lots of messy cables etc. Something like a Novation Circuit (there are great deals on used ones) or one of the Sonicware Livens are great affordable options to start making (almost) full songs right away. Alternatively, the minimum you need to start making basics tracks without a computer is a drum machine and at least 2-3 synths(to be able to record bass, chords, melodies and drums). So 2 Korg Volca synths and a pocket operator can be a great start as well...or a Korg Volca synced to the Koala Sampler App is also a powerful budget combo
