When this project does end, I wish we could get a wind-down series, how does Russ and the gang recover from this mad journey and readjust to normal life, or what everyone gets up to. Even each filming themselves then spliced together as updates. Maybe I just don't want it to ever end!
It would be cool if they did a recap series. Six parts perhaps of each leg of the journey and the best bits.

so ive come to realize that this is essentially the core four group that will be remembered. stan, guus, jamie, and of course russ. but there's been various folks to come and go, and even jarred and harry were awesome, so was james. they're definitely all part of a huge experience of worthy of praise. but this current group seems to gel so much together. they all get along well it seems and really bounce off each other. this isn't to take away from anything the others have done on the trip, but the interactions and experiences with this current group i feel are the most memorable.

I decided to take up running because of you and every day when i dont feel like doing it or it feels hard, i think about what youre going through and it motivates me to keep going. i know that one of the big things of this project is to raise money for charity but don’t underestimate the positive impact that you have on so many people like me just through your shear determination. I started running in April for the first time after hearing about your journey from Geowizard. About to do my second half-marathon tomorrow. Thanks for the inspiration Russ. For some reason this episode hit even harder and has given me all the motivation I need for tomorrow!

The Sahara leg is living up to expectations. Some of the shots at the end look like they came straight from Dune, and you can see from the mood change from Russ just how brutal this is compared to anything that's come before

A part of me is glad that the original plan to start in the north and head south fell through, the Sahara seems like an absolute final boss level in the mission haha

Oh no, I've been screen-capped as the voice of doubt! :D For the record, I've never doubted that Russ is gonna make it! I do have my reservations about Nelly though... that beautiful blue beast has made it much further than I ever thought she would, but the little cliffhanger at the end does not sound promising.
I also never doubted that Russ would make it.
Honestly, I did doubt that he would be able to keep up the pace of 65 km/day. And he does seem to have been able to make that. But I never doubted that he would make it.

Re-reading your comment at 3:10, I think you are a bit too pessimistic.
When I drove there in an overloaded Land Cruiser, we didn't really have much problems. Well, we wouldn't have, if we hadn't pulled a trailer.
So 4x4s should really not have any trouble getting there. And a 2WD that is quite high, and with an experienced sand driver, should also be able to do it without too much trouble. But a 2WD van, with a driver who is not experienced in sand driving, I would say that would only be possible with a LOT of help from the 4x4. And even then it might not be possible.
@@Tjalve70 Oh I was absolutely not talking from experience, I know nothing about desert crossings. I was just wondering what people think with regards to possible Western Sahara crossing... and sort of vibe-checking Nelly. :D I like that there are some actually knowledgeable people here in the comments.

It really set in just how much this geezer is runnin. I've sold a business, moved cities, started a new job, and went to that job a total of ~250 times since this series started. Throughout ALL of that, he's been running every single day. Wow.
