Russ Cook for sports personality of the year 2024
don't be so ridiculous
@@andydevinewine who would you prefer?
@@jakepearce746 lebrun
@wvbo Sports personality of the year is a BBC award, they're not gonna give it to an American who's never lived in the UK.
This is what RUclips should be for! Individual creators on a journey and a mission! Not fake or overly produced, just a guy with a team and a mission to accomplish! What an inspiration Russ 👏🏻
💯 too many Chanel’s creating tv content on the platform
RUclips is big enough to have all sorts of content. Stop gatekeeping :)
well said, this kinda stuff is what makes it unique compared to tv. this series would be far worse if it was an official tv series as they’d sensor so much and force changes constantly not realising people love raw footage of experiences
Absolutely agree!!!
Still crazy to me how underappreciated this series is.
Everytime I feel sorry for myself, I just know the Hardest Geezer is stomping about making me look like a loser!
Mr Beast Philanthropy needs to come and lay straight tarmac from Tunisia to you. Win win really!!
Russ been here since day one watching this. Don't want it to end.
As a small trip, for a absolute hard nut like you, when will you run the outside eof England, Scotland and Wales. You know, let us see all of the real UK. I now live IN Turkiye now though so then come and run this 😂
Don't want this series to end!
Russ, once you get to Tunisia please can you turn round and run back?
😂
First person ever to run the entire length of Africa twice
at least it’ll all be downhill on the way back
My girlfriend and I started watching you when you first started running. It inspired us to start running. We are now training to run the 2024 London half marathon and 7 days later the Manchester marathon to raise money for the National Autistic Society. We have never run in our life's but we always say 'if Russ can run the entire length of Africa, we can run a marathon!''
Well done!
That's amazing, good luck!
A marathon doesnt need training
@@geowright31Yeah, and I’m the f*cking pope🤣
Three series in one is a blessing! Not only is Russ running the entire length of Africa but we get Cooking with Guus and National Twats!
Much love to all of you
I genuinely believe there is no one doing such an incredible mission as Russ right now. Every video is perfect, big up the video team. What an honour it is that we get to witness this absolutely ridiculous achievement. My mans running the length of Africa, its fucking laughable how insane that is. Hell yeah brother!!! Keep stomping
Its sad you had to justify your funding after the comment from the other platform - however transparency is easier, but I feel that sometimes people struggle to comprehend what’s beyond the individuals moral compass- ‘This guy can’t have had this idea because he wants to leave a legacy - you mean he actually managed to sort out the funding for it and was able to raise money for charity as well as introduce people to the way of life in these countries (that we may have either preconceived notions about or may just never have bothered to consider)- no , it’s got to have more to it!’ For me you have been a real joy to watch, I’m disabled and my husband runs - yet I feel I’ve got more of an idea of running watching you- I may not be able to do it but I get my little chapter of exercise when I watch your videos - keep up those ones and twos !
I love Stan's interviews! He does such a great job with questions and I like his sense of humor, not to mention the hard work of editing and filming.
This is the perfect YT channel by now. Inspirational, exciting... The side quests are just magical at this point and that river - holy smokes it looked ethereal. ALSO... "Gus Going for Gold" to come in late '24. Thanks as always guys and best wishes for the week ahead❤
Interesting that you found a gold mine in Guinea. British coins used to be made with gold from this region, that's why the old coins of Britain was called "a guinea".
I adore this series. The resolve, skill, creativity, raw intellect, kindness, and bravery on display from every member of the crew is patently absurd. My admiration is unbound.
Its cool that the modern media landscape helps to support this project, but the fact that this project could be birthed, and then could continue to persist in the face of tremendous adversity, is ironclad testament to the ability of you lot.
I'd be remiss not to mention the fascinating and candid cultural studies of the nations being traversed; its stellar.
2025: Straight line mission through the length of Africa
Everything about this is perfection!! The videography, the National Tw*ts segments, Gus' side missions and cooking and, of course, Russ grafting on the tarmac. What a channel!
My guess for the logistical problem: Algeria's still not budging on their "you can only enter from your home country" thing that sent them to South Africa to start. They're probably trying to get permission to use the Tindouf border crossing (which is in a lowkey war zone), which for "tourists" requires permission from both Mauritania and Algeria - and the request for Mauritanian permission has to come from *your* country's embassy in Mauritania - which for this multinational crew might be a whole production. And some nations outright refuse to help.
They may end up having to take the long way up the coast through West Africa/Morocco and try Algeria from there.
Nope. To my knowledge the Algeria/Morocco borders are all closed and the countries have no diplomatic relations with each other. This is literally the only reason why they had to go the way harder and more remote Tindouf route in the first place.
@@Nooticus oh really. I hadn’t even checked that - I just assumed based on the volume of travelers headed the other way that it was open - but I guess most of them came across the mediterranean in morocco.
@@EyeMWing yup exactly
I only just twigged that Huel and Perfect Ted are both involved with Steven, two good links!
Blew my mind to see none other than Russell cook himself on a national tv advert during the football. A feature on the TikTok advert is MASSIVE!
"A death would be expensive"
cue two idiots harassing a snake
Stan: "Bye mate, love you"
Subtitles: "Bye mate, f*** you"
🤣
Exactly
Just donated, what this man is doing is incredible, come on folks lets help him out!!
Shame givestar is for-profit, really 😢
Thank you for the break down! Honestly wondered how this was all being funded lol.
MY NAME IS GASCOOK and I'm atempting to be the first person EVER to bake a bread in the entire lenght of AFRICA
Take my money!
Had a stroke tryna read that
Inter-dimensional RUclips be like
Snorkosauraus - I think that comment falls in the 'good effort' but poor 'execution' category. Made me chuckle though.....
@@darrenlynch7268Gas Cook carried the rest of the comment
Just binge watched loads of your content. F'ing class. You lads deserve knighthoods for this herculean effort. Go on my son!
Love the new intro, the narrative arc holding it all together, and screw that sucker on Twitter.
Absolutely incredible video. One of the best I think. The gold mining operation was incredible, and the addition of traditional Mande background music was great.
Good luck for the big logistical issues
Legendary. Literally legendary. I haven’t missed an episode, and will keep supporting until the very end.
I say it every time. RUclips hall of fame material.
Ah man. This whole series is class. Raw. Fun. Unfiltered content bullshiz. Keep doing what you’re doing fellas, we appreciate it ❤
I love when Guus goes to the locals and tells there story’s it has become my favorite part of the videos
Well done guys. Lot of money for charity there. I'm trying to raise 100k for the trussell trust myself.
One of the best videos yet!
Your honesty to open up about your feelings is gotta be one of my favorite things about this whole project. Despite the craziness of the goal, you guys are too real! Much respect! Thanks for sharing
Bought my first ever @perfecttedenergy because of watching the channel. Loved seeing you on the TikTok advert.
Interesting stuff on the finances of the trip. Don’t need to justify yourselves to those idiots who question you on twitter
This vid was high quality - good effort guys. You can feel the vibes are improving as we make progress
Insane journey man. This will go down in the history books, that's for sure!
ths series deserves more recoginition ive been here since south africa
The consistency in the quality of these videos, both in content and production, is incredible. You guys are all writing to the blue print to how things can be done, in more than one way on this mission, and I’m counting down the miles until that strawberry daiquiri just as much as you are.
I literally went to the Goose earlier today and saw the beer on tap man, I thought it was sick! Is it the only place that has it, couldn't believe it when I saw it haha
I hope national tw*ts intro becomes regular, the edit with the uplifiting music is inspirational. Who neesds planeth Earth when we have National Tw*ts?
What a great video!! The gold mine was super interesting also I’m so excited to see how the Sahara Part is gonna be! Wow you guys are making history🎉
Nice one Russ. These kinds of costs are what really put me off attempting something similar, combined with me being an unsociable introvert who just hates the idea of being reliant on a support crew and sponsors! But I love that there are people like you out there embracing this style. Setting off on my own indefinite run in the coming months budgeting £10k a year.
Loving the updates and progress top effort Russ, donation made to the cause and a tiny slice of the funding you need. I hope you get more attention and support in the next few weeks to boost that total.
Running from tip of South America to tip of Alaska would be wild
that's ridiculously far though, and the changing seasons might cause issues in the north.
darien gap is impossible to navigate tru by car
A guy called Holly Harrison did in 530 days in 2017/18, including the Darien Gap. The Darien Gap probably got even more dangerous due to human trafficking, though.
couldn't they just ship the cars by sea?@@andeeznuts420 meanwhile the runner has a cool ~130 km trail ultramarathon, needs to carry ~20000 calories but that's like 4 kilos of peanut butter. would be interesting
@@jaunedroite I believe of anything Russ is the man for the job, yet there won't be support van and crew nearby which causes troubles with supplies and foods.
When I see that this channel only has 148k subs I get so angry. We need 1 million by now 😤
155k now. Slowing growing
244k
This could be the best episode of the journey so far.
One y favourite channels on youtube always good day when u bang another video out keep up the awesome work guys love from 🏴🇬🇧
Holy shit dude! Russ managed to carry out a massive 200k dollars mission across an entire continent literally from 0. That's some fucking accomplishment
Stan, im travelling in Vietnam right now, it might be tempting to bunk with the hardest geezer but vietnam is too good to miss.
I modernised the lift in Robert dyers in worthing a few years ago, rescued a homing pigeon from being murderd by seagulls named it reggie. Turns out it was a female pigeon... just incase you wanted to know.
Honestly the best stuff on this whole damn site
Best episode in months guys. Love it and thanks!
Awesome video! Watching these videos brings me so much joy.
Also, good luck on the logistical issue. If I had to guess, I’d say Algeria visa issues, but hopefully something more easily vanquished than that.
Every single viewer of this channel has found their pot of gold in these videos. Think your life is tough, watch Russ stomping through Africa. Think your life is tough, watch the locals digging by hand for gold, to get enough to put bread on their table each day. This is real human content. It gets no better.
vids have been unreal for the past couple months, been following from the start and always looking forward for the next video, good shit lads keep at it
16:20 is vertical mining! GRIAN WOULD BE PROUD!
Shoutout to Tom (GeoWizard) for pointing me to this channel in the weeks before the mission started, so I got the privilege of watching this from Day 1. As an ultrarunner myself I get so inspired. You’re a true legend Russ!
Never thought I would ever see a Hardest Geezer/Minecraft crossover but here we are.
In a world where your government, and every single major consumer based business and advert seems to want to fucking scam you, I could honestly not care less even if he made any money for himself doing this. He is doing something great, he is an example to all humans. The fact that anyone is nitpicking on this and trying to drag this feat down is disgusting man. Right behind you Russ, thanks mate ❤
Great episode as always. Question: if you had more resources for this mission is there anything you would change? I can imagine there is beauty in the way you approach this mission, but I can also imagine some comfort once in a while would be welcome. Cheers!
Are there not crocodile's in Africa? I wouldn't be getting into any river!
Very much looking forward to the next episode of National Tw*ts
addicted to this channel now
Best video so far! Well done lads, love the storytelling 👍
Love the work. Keep stomping brother!!!
so sick bro ! keep it up u got it
I can confirm Russ, everyone in Worthing is watching and supporting the mission!!
Yes! Use this model for all future epsiuodes. BUT I need to know more about the running.
I had never heard of Hoka before watching these videos. Now I own 2 pairs of Hoka running shoes. Hoka - give him some more $$$.
Awww. We love the loyal Stan for playing the Tommy of The Smothers Brothers. (Before your time, but you can look up.) ❤
National Tw*ts is some of the highest octane content on RUclips. Keep it up guys, absolutely love the work !!
So good to see you smashing it bro👏🏼👏🏼💙💙
Russ Runs.... Gus Explores and Eats.... And National Twats.... National Twats is definitely by favorite C-Level plot of any production. Lol.
I know it gets said every episode, but this is by far and away the best episode yet.
you're a legend. nothing but respect
Gargantuan plans. We hoing around the world boys! I am excited about the future!
Guinea probably comes from ancient the Mali city of Djenné which was a huge trade hub in the old medieval days. Although the use of Guinea for "West Africa" was also inspired by the Berber word "Aginaw" meaning "black". But nobody really knows for sure.
Quality series bro I've been watching you since the start and it seems such a long time ago and you've come such a long way my guy. Killin it
Question for Russ, how much sun screen do you go through in a mission like this? Keep up the good work lads, love the videos
Always try to leave a comment for the algorithm!
Another banger video
Big up Worthing
Nice one on the tiktok advert btw hope you got a nice wedge for it
Respect 💯💯
The National Tw*t Segments are so hilarious!! The intro is pure gold.
gotta love that C148 music. slaps.
KRO Its priceless what you are doing to inspire and motivate.
LIKE THE DAMN VIDEO GUYS
p.s National twats might be my favourite segment
Russ you should run round Australia. Not through, round. That would be epic. No idea how far
Far
Australia's coastline is over double the length of this mission so I think that's a bit much but it would probably be more pleasant than the Africa mission considering the conditions being more developed, stable and safe compared to most of the areas Russ has been through in Africa (Sahara might be the worst of them all later on), though the commitment needed to do it would be much greater considering the distance is over double...
Epic video lads
I was introduced to perfect ted by these videos and drink atleast three a week! They sponsored the right guy
When (NOT IF) you get there, I think a big moneymaker would be a timestamp video of film of your face 1 frame for every day of the mission at the same time every day. you could title it "My face as I run across all of Africa", think it'd generate a lot mate. But I know shit about this stuff, just a fan.
Would have been a sick idea this
Thank you, sir
Genuinely how is Guus still jacked after 270 days on the road
Amazing mate #stayhard
You’re my 🐐 Russ
That's a crazy amount of money. I am getting ready for an Ironman and I see how expensive my hobby gets, but 200k is just wow.
I think y’all should run America next. You could definitely get some sponsors here in America and more followers
I convinced our French exchange student that koalas originally came from Kuala Lumpur (hence the name) and that they hitched a ride over with the first fleet 😂
Someone need to tell Mike Horn about Russ and his heroic prowess…
Keep it up bro
