Does anyone remember Seamus McNeal, (sp) once principal of the Glasgow school of piping? I have an LP of his piping. (Not taking anything away from Stuart. Superb piping!!!)
Seumas was a great visionary who began the College of Piping and produced their brilliant tutor book....but as a player....he couldn't have got within a million miles of Stuart.
The same kind of instrument found in Qazaqstan by archeologists. It is called "jelbuaz" in Qazaq. Some ancestors of gaels lived in Central Asia somewhen and brought it to the British Esle deep back then.
If I won the lotto I would buy the town I live in a present. Each head of household would recieve a copy in the mail of "world's best bagpiper volume" with a greeting, It would have to be a surprise so no one would leak the gift. Once they knew everyone had one, the town would be had. Then say it was from the town on the other side of the river across the bridge, which of course is much poorer and has larger abandoned buildings from the 1860's in gross view of traffic still boasting of ambitions nearly 150 years later now "skid row" .
The best modern day piper by far.
