Lula is not alone in suffering lawfare throughout history (Mandela in South Africa, MLK in the US, Assange everywhere are just a few examples). Lula’s innocence shouldn’t have had to be proven when the presumption of innocence is a basic requirement of any fair trial.
It is evil to put down a rare politician from the working class who proved himself by ending the hunger of millions. By turning Brazil from debtor to creditor with the IMF. By bringing unemployment down. By improving education and making it accessible to all classes. I lived in both urban and rural areas and saw enormous poverty and the oppression under which people lived. I had friends who were abducted and tortured. The fact that he visited indigenous communities that were in sad conditions after bolsonaro's government was very pleasing to see. I remember when I heard about the yanomami people having their land taken from them and the little indigenous girl being raped by the miners and dying after that, those were rly heartbreaking news to hear. He has his weak points and everyone in Brazil is watching closely on his governmental decisions, truth is nobody thrusts politicians anymore, even the ones you elect, but one thing is for sure at least he is more humanitarian, intelligent, eloquent and empathetic than bolsonaro.
