I see why Brasil would side with China rather than with the USA. The US has spent too much time lecturing the entire region while China has been lending and building over here. If the USA wants to recover their place in the world, they need to start offering something way better than lectures and start spending.

The answer to that question is the BRICS. Brazil is a part of it and they assume US to fall economically once the dollar patrol tie is broken. This will see the build up of a new world order which will benefit Brazil among all other BRICS nations largely. If you observe, non of the BRICS partners of Russia stood against them in this war. With Saudi and Iran aligning with the BRICS they can easily create a new form of currency ( which if is on the base of gold will be more accepted world wide ).

@Pantallone it is not just Brazil but every single country in the global south. Nobody sanctioned Russia and everybody is buying from Russia. In our case, 80% of our fertilizers come from Russia and no other country can supply it. Morocco has the product but not the technology to extract it. It is not like we even have a choice. Because of the BRICS Russia puts a lot of pressure on us to be on their side, even conditioning the sales to public support.
