    Thank you so much for your video! Instead of paying 500 € for the replacement of a dinged-up plastic piece at the dealership (they would have replaced the entire fairing set), I bought just the replacement part from Thailand and did it myself. Ended up taking 90 minutes (steady does it!) and cost me 150 € only. Without this video I wouldn‘t have thought I could do it!

    You can see why the overall labour charges can be so high at the dealers when having any accessories or maintenance done by them. It takes so much time to carefully remove and replace everything without damaging anything... if you attack it without care you will break plastic fittings which are quite flimsy. I have a Versys 1000 and it is exactly the same to gain access to anywhere. Thankfully when we do these jobs ourself time and money generally isn't a factor so we can take our time and plod along without haste. Very nice detailed vid by the way.... Thx for sharing.

      this is so true! when i tried to take apart my KTM 1290 SuperAdventure, i start to realise why the service charge is so high :-)

      @MrAndrew1953 5 лет назад +4

      You are correct. This is especially the case with Ducaties with full fairings. You always remove the lower half before you take the bike to the workshop.

      Yes...I agreee, it a large job to do, expecially the first time. After the third or fourth bike things will probably go a bit faster :-)

    Please do more of these! I am collecting my bike tomorrow and am interested in fitting heated grips ,hand guards and fog lights.

    • @tubelesschannel
      @tubelesschannel  5 лет назад +2

      Heated grips is an "advanced" job, you have to remove all fairing, and remove both grips. Throttle grip involves detach trottle cable, and to do that you have to loose the tank in front and lift it 6-7 cm to get access to throttle wire adjustment and loose wire there to get enough slack. The glueing of the left grip has to be planned well, DO NOT use glue that dry fast !!. Also the bar ends sits very tight. Would NOT recommend to do this job yourself if you are not experienced working on your bike :-)

    Slow and steady is the way to go on this type of project. It will be nice to have those heated grips when you're finished. Is the cigarette lighter just another name for a different type of connector? I can't imagine you would need it for lighting cigarettes.

    I just want to be sure. There are preinstalled wires/connectors for 12v socket and heated grips. Are there any other preinstalled wires/connectors for some other accessories? What type of connector is preinstalled? Could please give some link.

    • @tubelesschannel
      @tubelesschannel  4 года назад

      Yes there is an option connector under the seat which gives switched power as shown early in the video. To connect other than Honda OEM equipment you should fit at connector to your equipment that fits. Remember to check polarity of the 12V when mounting the connector. www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-CB500X-F-R-CB650F-Options-Accessory-Port-2-x-2-way-Connector-Set/282331385478?hash=item41bc430e86:g:WCgAAOSwNnRYgN28

    Anyone know if fairings are interchangable between cb500x? I have a 2015 I just ordered decals from the 16 and 17 years for this bike. I am doing the middle decals of the 2016 the cb500x part under the seat to cover some of that bare giant black fairing piece. However I also need to add the Honda wing stickers being the guy before me removed them. It was until after ordering decals, I realized it would have been the same price nearly to just order new fairings. I see the 2019 and later have 3 pieces instead of the 1 around and under the gas tank and handlebar area. You think the entire fairings are interchangable? For sure I would imagine the 16 and 17 and even 18 ones are with the 13 to 15 year generation. However would even the newer years work on my bike to make it appear however I wish?! Curious

    • @tubelesschannel
      @tubelesschannel  5 лет назад +5

      No it did not, so I ordered it as accessory from my dealer. Just mounted it on my bike, an easy job if you follow the instructions from Honda carefully. (You have to remove the left panels...wiring is easy with preinstalled connectors on the bike harness end cable from lighter output. You MAY do it without removing panels when you know the exact position of the option connector..but it will be a "tight" job...
