It will probably decrease the amount of obsidian structures but the ones that are built will be hundreds, even thousands of times larger
It’s obvious you can place obsidian far quicker than you can delete it. One person placing obsidian could outpace like 20 people mining it

The giant ring around spawn would've been cool IMO, it's a large structure of obsidian that barely obstructs vision and can serve as a giant omnidirectional landmark around spawn.

@@Akhimed it covers nore ground because it uses more obsidian, yes, but the design has way more empty space in relation to the area it covers, so it has less darkness % than with other designs. It's also slick compared to... Giant astley and owo.

Honestly, I imagine people are going to create even larger structures of obsidian out of spite due to this, because they know that these people will not grief insanely large structures.

@@i_love_games110 It's a losing game for them. The people who do this can place like 100 blocks of obsidian by the time these people mine a single one. How do you even compete? No matter how much of a bigger group you get, there is just no winning. Ofc, like you said, they can also grief it by placing even more blocks, but that would quickly go out of control, covering even more of the sky in a pissing race where no one wins.

I have escaped spawn using the obsidian.. You can travel so far on top of it. It is just hard to get down sometimes.

Wont lie getting outta spawn was way easier than I expected. Only took like 15 minutes. Worse part was the 5 hour queue
Yeah. In fact, I have over 2 days realtime at spawn, just because it was so easy to survive there that I never bothered to leave. I just go around spawn doing stuff, it's pretty neat sometimes.

I wonder if groups will resort to creating manmade lakes to replace the obsidian logos. Those obviously wouldn't block out the sun and they wouldn't be as much of an eyesore all while still being visable from a satellite mapping view.
Lakes can be lava casted however blocks at build limit can not

The fact that they added obsidian to the dragon to 'make it unrecognisable' goes against operation vacuum's supposed ideology of 'cleaning up the skies', and makes them look like just another griefing group IMO.
Not necessarily. If the idea is to say "don't build obsidian in the sky," making sure people don't get the reward of their build is an important facet.
And when they ignore one of they founder's obsidian sky arts. And don't actually touch the one that covers a ton of spawn.

IMO, them destroying project collective sky was a great move. Obsidian isn't permanent, but it's still a pain in the arse to remove. Plus, there's a difference between good obsidian art, and just plain ol' annoying.
This is kinda why I don’t like how they didn’t remove the full thing and made it a mess/unrecognizable. To me, that looks so much worse than something that’s designed to look like something
the ad ones especially are very annoying. we get more than enough ads as is.

As much as the Obsidian sky paintings were a cool novelty, I think anyone who's played 2b2t with shaders in the last year or two can attest to how annoying it is to no longer see most of Spawn's ruins baked in RTX light because none of it can get through the giant obsidian ceiling.

There’s a simple counter to this: layered obby. Just place more above or below it and that’ll drastically increase how long it’d take
That will make it easier to grief. Currently, a single layer at build height prevents withers being created.
As soon as you add more layers, withers can be spawned on the art.

@@cursed9092 it isn't getting trapped in a portal that causes people to quit, it's getting trapped in the hours-long queue. fitmc being a big reason why that queue's so long

2b2t is the kind of server that would legit have a war over who owns more pixels in their skin

New Way To Make Obsidian Sky Art:
Make obsidian art 2-3 layers deep so that it's even MORE annoying to get rid of.
EDIT: I forgot about the Wither.
That will make it easy for Withers to be placed on Obsidian art (currently not possible), allowing for easier griefing.
was going to say, they built obsidian at height limit to prevent griefers using blocks to spawn withers. Something like that
@@NooniiToons building the withers a few blocks lower might work
BUT much more expensive to make. You'll need 2-3x more of obsidians you originally need. And dupe glitches aren't so much public and quite hard to recreate since it can be patched when noticed

Tbh i think that this will be the major reason of new obsidian projects being ruined at their core. Just think of all the people that will follow to ruin their plans

There's already server plugins that stop reporting entirely, 2b2t will be fine
Some 2b2t players could start a small war with their programming skills but they instead use them to destroy virtual cubes
They just use baritone, 99% can't do shit
And using multiple clients doesn't require anything other than multiple accounts. :P
@idk what to put here but that few percent that can can do some seriously scary shit. We're lucky they're occupied with a block game

You know, the best is to leave the obsidian there, but to make grid holes into it, to allow light. Both sides win.
I'm not expecting the Pekora still exists until now

I think baritone is one of the most boring things that happened to 2b2t. Feels like I hear "They used baritone" as often as "Oldest anarchy server in minecraft". Really takes away from the achievement when you just turn on a dozen bots and go to bed.
If anything this is inspiring me since ofher than the sheer time and effort required for building one is already intimidating, theres also now a group in direct opposition

Instead of just a single layer, I could see future projects, even restoration attempts on those that were destroyed, easily double up or even triple in layers.
That of course would require more resources and time, but if completed would last longer in the skies over 2B2T.
yeah but the obsidian removers would just use bots, so it's not like it would discourage them. it would only take longer, is all.

@@Chisien It was made by japanese players who were initially struggling to survive on 2b2t. A seasoned player who understands both japanese and english met a japanese player and they united the other japanese newbies under one banner, and after a while of training, they became good enough and decided to make that structure as their mark on the server.
Fit actually has covered the entire story, just search pekora 2b2t and it is the first content you’ll see
If one were to remove only some of the obsidian (like 50% in a checker like pattern) would it make it so that the structure could still be seen but it wouldn't darken the land below?

I think 'collective sky' was actually a good project, because everything else would look tiny compared to it, and it doesn't take any big space at all.
it's not interesting, and it makes any other obsidian art useless, which is good, because it will be annoying at the map perspective.
I'd rather not have a giant obsidian monolith blocking out the sky

I’ve never played this game once but I feel so invested after years of FitMC uploads. So entertaining!
Idea: build a base packed with so much tnt that when someone griefs it, they immediately crash. Then act like a noob, tell people to check out your cool build at (coords), and watch the magic happen. Bonus points if you can make mining the tnt set it off. I quite simply lack the resources and time to test this, but it could be quite interesting....
The way Java works means that it’s pretty much impossible to crash most modern PCs with TNT alone.
Fit Mc, it's obvious you put a lot of real effort and structure in your videos which make them "real" content to me. Professional too. You deserve this job which is more than I can say for a lot of streamers and youtubers.

Its funny how this couldve easily just been a short chapter of a video on the success of the collective sky project, detailing a group that was deleting obsidian structures but was disbanded after they failed to stop the completion of the biggest structure yet.
Some of these obsidian stashes look better than my houses

You know, I came onto the server for the first time and while I was traveling I decided to get a stack of obesidan for future convince as I travel more and more and I thought:
"Eh no one would miss a stack from this nether highway..."
And then BOOM, you upload this video and I got nervous for some reason. XD
This would be fun to see where this would go, I’m not saying I hope more Obsidian Structures like this are built but I think it’ll be fun for Fit to cover this again
Considering what it took to get the project going Zi don’t think it’s gonna stop players from building art with obsidian, however I do think if anyone is gonna build an obsidian structure it’s most likely gonna be away from spawn out of fear of similar projects like this happening again.

for those of you that dont know: Meteor Client has a built in feature called "swarm" which lets you input commands from a host to multiple instances of MC running in the back ground over your LAN if you want. its as easy as run multiple MC accounts then press a button to start the host and start it on each of the swarm accounts. I usually turn the graphics and render distance WAY down on the swarm accounts then just run my main account like normal.
las i checked Meteor also has support for altening token gens so you could 100% boot up temp altening accounts as well and run those. i did it.
I was watching some of these updates get posted on Reddit in previous weeks. Nice work, guys! I always thought there were too many of those things in the sky on 2b.

I find this entire operation to be counterproductive and dumb. The point of it was to remove the obsidian eyesores from the sky, but for a lot of them they just made them even more of an eyesore.
The obsidian drawings were not that bad honestly, they were kinda cool in the map

they should've targetted the bigger artwork, them leaving it because of its size and cleaning everything else up encourages others to make enormous artwork to avoid griefing
They did say that they're gonna make a project specifically for the massive structure, so I expect a sequel to this video in a few months when they finally get it up and running

agreeing with some other comments I've seen, this is just going to encourage builders. I'll even go so far as to say it'll bring together groups of a much larger scale to get these projects done quickly so that they can finish before griefers can make a start on anything.
Even though I don't play on 2b2t I still find it interesting to see what shenanigans occur

This may be the start of a snowball effect of griefing any obsidian structure people can get there hands on
or building bigger structures more and more resistant to griefing with each iteration.
I honestly had 0 idea that this was happening. I was heading back to spawn for fun, guess I’m now doing it to see this.
