Just a note to help anyone who might be trying to do a serpentine belt replacement on their Toyota/Lexus automobile. The belt tensioner has a useful hole on the outside rim of the part. This hole is there to facilitate changing the serpentine belt. It is designed to hold the belt tensioner in its retracted position while you change the belt. This is accomplished by using a 5mm or 3/16" allen key to hold the tensioner in place by retracting it to the point where the hole lines up with the groove in the engine block and then inserting the allen key which will serve as a holding pin and lock the tensioner in it's retracted position. This then allows you to easily remove the old belt and easily replace it with the new one. Once you have the new belt in place then simply re-apply tension to the tensioner and remove the allen key and gently release the tensioner to allow it to apply tension to the new belt
Hello. I would recommend change the pulley making the noise and check the serpentine belt for wears and tears if still good you don’t need to change the belt. If the money not tight, i just change the belt as well it’s cheap enough. Good luck!!!🍀
Hi there. I have a 2010 rx350. Pretty sure my idler pulley or tensioner bearing starting to fail and make a noise. Should I just swap out belt and the two pulleys ? Do you have the part numbers for the pulleys.
