Since 1984, i've watched and re-watched ALIEN(1979) well over 200+ times. I am not much into video games, despite that, i plan to buy Isolation and give it a go.
It really is a cool game to play.
Three quick bursts of the flamethrower will drive the Alien away (or lead it to tackle you nonlethally if you happen to be blocking its path to an air duct).
I'm seeing you find a lot of items that you're already maxed on. Do you have nothing to craft with these items so you can pick up new ones? I'd figure you could use a few more noisemakers or health kits. Also, most other players have already like 8 things they can craft, while you have 4. So you're at a serious disadvantage here ;)
*Flashlight*
Isn't there a configuration screen where you can see the key mapping? Otherwise, try holding 'F'?
*Androids*
You'll need to stun an Android with a stun baton before you can melee the crap out of them, otherwise they'll just become hostile.
*Flamethrower fuel*
As people already said, flamethrower fuel is rare to find and there's plenty of locations where you nearly can't progress unless you have flamethrower fuel to drive the alien away for a while so you can traverse to the next room to do your thing. You're going to have to be a stealthy frustrated mofo :)
You're doing it to yourself because you love alien.
You should be really collecting and crafting items with all that content you've been collecting, and use your flamethrower fuel more sparingly. You'll need it later! 🙂
I noticed your keep bypassing the blueprints for items to craft. Noisemakers are REALY useful for distracting the alien, and Molotov cocktails can be very useful when you get low on fuel, but they they have a big blast radius.
Keep in mind that for everything you do, the alien AI will learn your methods. The more you use Flamethrower, the more resistant and less afraid the alien will become. The more times you hide in lockers, the more often the alien will seek you in them. The stairwell and trap are difficult, because once your catch the alien's attention you can't keep it from reappearing without hiding for a while until it retreats and clams down.
I don't think that was a bullet hole.
Just as a tip for your survival:
The flamethrower fuel is heavily limited in the game
Do with that information as you will ^^
The flamethrower itself is also limited; every time you use it you teach the Alien to overcome it's fear of fire.
Using the flamethrower on the console was..... well. As someone else mentioned the flamethrower fuel is very limited in the game. Not really the sort of thing you want to use all that often.

YES! Fun fact, the day I was planning to continue playing was the day I ended up getting on a plane and flying to california for the whole lucasfilm deal! Totally threw my schedule out the window but I'm actually streaming the next chapters today and the video recaps will be on youtube soon!
