The ASICS Gel-Nimbus 24 is a super soft max cushioned trainer with a versatile ride. It has an onslaught of new updates, the biggest one being the addition of FF Blast+ foam in its midsole. Version 24 is lighter, nimbler, and bouncier than version 23 but it has a less plush upper and isn't as sturdy.

Your review was the only one that mentioned its lack of durability, great to know this! Enjoyed the review, seems like a great show otherwise.

The poor durability of the outsole or the upper is the reason I will probably not get an Asics in 2022. Last year I had problems with all FOUR shoes I had. The worst durability was 90 miles with my GlideRide 2 where the AHAR+ rubber in the heel totally desappeared and I started to severe overpronate and could not use the GR2 anymore.
For the record , my NB 1080V11 some how lasted near 4x times more... Asics shoes are so comfortable and fun but the durability is starting to get a major issue. That is why for a high cushioning shoe to start this year I went with the Ultraboost 22, heavy and expensive but it will last equivalent to three Nimbus 24 s , probably.
Great video and I'm Sad to known that Asics did not improve the durability of it's shoes for 2022 line up.

Great review. Just got Nimbus 24 and have ran in them twice so far. Both were short runs, 5k and a 5-miler. I did not run in Nimbus 23 but this Nimbus 24 is not like any other previous versions. Definitely lighter and it has a nice heel to toe ride. FF Blast+ midsole is nice; soft yet responsive (quick bounce back). For me, this Nimbus had the regular Asics fit. Wasn’t short or long . Wish the tongue had a bit more padding when I tie my laces tight. But definitely a 4+ out of 5 ratings for me for Nimbus 24.

As a light weight runner myself, I prefer to train in the Nimbus 24 over the Novablast 2 because of its softer midsole and the versatility to pick up the paces better. I find the transition to be smoother too. However, the Novablast 2 which has a higher stack height, is still a very good shoe which I will now mainly use for recovery run.

Great review! Seems like you're the only one that has found a somewhat serious issue with the new foam Asics is using. Definitely will keep it away from trails if I ever get a pair.

The best Nimbus 24 review i found. I really like how you describe everything in detail. I bought these because they felt more stable than the Nike zoom x. And of course they look really great.

I always find your videos helpful but wish it came out earlier, as I’d already gotten my shoe last week with a promotional discount. I suspected the shoe was slightly small on my usual size but I thought a thinner sock could hack it. Doubt I can change up a half size now. Been loyal to this size for years. I totally agree with the poor wear on recent 23 and 24 since they switched the setup to be smoother in transition. Obviously it makes the shoe more expensive per run but I think the wear on the 23 was acceptable for me (on concrete surfaces mostly) despite the initial concerns about the fast wearing outsole. Haven’t run in the 24 yet, but will find time to try it out. Thanks for the review!

I also want to mention that I have purchased several pairs of asics over the past 20 years. When I got out of the Army in 2010 I still had my asics that I was issued in 2004 for BCT. Finally started to use them for yard shoes.

I didn’t have the same problems with sizing. I generally have a slightly wider foot. Especially in the forefoot and the nimbus 24 fit me really well in my normal size. Good review though. I’m loving this new nimbus.

I only have about 15 miles on the nimbus 24 but I like them a lot. I much prefer the thinner tongue over the padded ones. I hope it lasts. I'm only running a few miles a week on it so it shouldn't wear too quickly

i haven't tried the new nimbus, but i still believe that this series is more suited to slow or heavy runners. For faster runners, i find novablast a better shoe for recovery and long runs

Hi Brandon, even bouncier vs Novablast?

  • @suenummy

I much prefer 24 over 23 for it is more plush and supportive. However I'm quite bummed that it didn't last me very long, the insole flattened prematurely and I would start to get foot fatigue after 3km (used to be after 15km). I've owned Nimbus since 18 and the 24's comfort is similar when new. The rest of the Nimbuses were all over the place in comfort. I've switched to Hoka both road and trail pairs after 2 decades in Asics. My teen son's Kayano 28 lost a lug in barely 3 months of light use. I think Asics is following the path of Nike by cutting corners and sacrificing durability.

At 04:00 - deep gash in the sole after only 62kms - Looks like these ones are meant for treadmill use only then, eh?

Would you recommend this shoe for a week at Disney world in October. From what I understand and have been told by previous Disney world goers they walked thousands of steps a day. Or if you could recommend a good shoe for men that can handle a week at Disney. Thank you.

I enjoyed this video. I bought a pair of Nimbus 24's and have about 25 miles on them. I agree with your assessment that they are soft, bouncy and very comfortable to on a run. I'm wondering if you would consider them shoes for a marathon?

@@avilla4013 I now have about 240 miles on my Nimbus 24s. They are holding up great and don't believe that durability will be a problem. I also rotate them with my Novablast 2s (200 miles). I think both shoes are great and would not hesitate to use either one for a marathon. If it makes a difference, I'm about 170 lbs.

I skipped the 23 because it was so soft. Sounds like I should skip this, too. As for wear, sounds awful. You report excessive wear on the heel - and you don’t even touch the heel on the ground (ever!!!!) when you run. I would wear this out in a second.
