  • Running cadence is the number of steps you take, while running, in a minute. Most coaches nowadays recommend a high (180+) cadence while running.
We put it to the test by running at slow, medium and high cadence on track, road and trail - and checking the effects it has on other running metrics such as vertical oscillation, ground contact time, power output etc...

The watches have a built in metronome function which can keep the beat constant. Relying on feel to run at different cadences is not easy

Just for advise… when doing such experiments you need an accurate heart sensor and a cadence/power pod in order to have better data. Relying only on watch data isn’t a good way to experiment.

@@tadejdanev5030 I think the Garmin HRM pro has everything on it. I use the Polar OH1+ and the Garmin Running Dynamics Pod.

You again 🎉. I learned that just thinking about increasing my cadance makes me feel more energised. My cadance goes up and the load on my Achilles Tendon and my is much lower. For me pace above 163 prevents injuries.. However I can only keep it up in a long run (over 12K)if I have shoes that are light and have good energy return. If I do it in a daily trainer I just die 😂

I have one monotonous pace from my experience all the tempo training horseshit leads to injuries, passed a phys ed class of kids today doing it I feel bad for them they only get negative connotation with exercise that way.

Hi! This experiment is not about changing pace though, only the cadence!
