Asics Gel Nimbus 24 Multi-Tester Review: Lighter, softer and bouncier than ever

  • Popular long-running lines like the Asics Gel Nimbus don’t often get major updates, simply because so many people already like the shoe and could be put off by an overhaul. It was, therefore, a bit risky of Asics to completely change the midsole of the Gel Nimbus 24, but for our money it’s a risk that has largely paid off.
Run Testers Mike and Nick have been testing out the Asics Gel Nimbus 24 in their recent training and deliver their verdict on the shoe here, covering whether it’s an improvement on the 23 and how it compares to other options on the market.

Got these on a discount and I love the stability and nice bounce the shoe offers. Really pleasant to run in!!

Agreed. I run in these and the saucony ride 14. I like the tongue in these and these are definitely softer than the ride.

I was first introduced to asics when I was going through basic training for the United States Army in 2004.
That was one of the shoes to choose from. And I have have never purchased anything else. I just purchased asics nimbus 24. And yes I paid $160.00 US dollars. Plus tax. I have worn them around the neighborhood and put on about 20 miles I would say. so far they are a very comfortable shoe. Although I am a little concerned about the foam. All other asics I have owned last about five years. I average about five miles a day walking over sidewalks. I sure hope I get the same use out of the nimbus 24s.

I wore the shoes at Disney for five days and they were really comfortable. The only thing I noticed was on wet ground they didn’t have much traction. I highly recommend wearing compression socks. I wore them with the shoes and that helped tremendously.
We are going to universal in October of 2023 and I will be wearing these shoes on that trip as well. I did purchase another pair of shoes as a backup. But the nimbus were more comfortable.

Yep! The stretchy tongue is a really great improvement. Holds the top well. I hope Asics keeps this part for future designs. Else I think 24 is made for comfort and made to last. Nothing else

How does it compare to the Vomero 16 do you think?

I just got some Nimbus Lite 3's as my first proper running shoes (coming from ultraboost 19&21's) few runs in and they feel nice. Not sure if there's much difference between the Lite 3 and 24 but would love to see your thoughts on the lite 3.

Scored a bargain for these today. £50 from Sports Direct for the electric blue colour way. All the others still at £130. Hopefully going to stay good for a few months, as I got stung with some Hokas which are comfy but do not last long.

Did you feel that the Gel-Nimbus 24 is more nimble and seems faster then the previous version ?
Because the Gel-Nimbus 23 was extremely comfortable, probably most comfortable middlesole from 2021 ... But for running it was not good ,was way too soft and too much energy wasted in every foot contact to the ground. Amazing to walk around for sure though.

Hey (Mike here), I unfortunately haven't run in the 23, but wouldn't say 24 was particularly fast in my testing. Mostly comfortable and soft cushioning, but not one I'd say I would turn to for any sort of speed work. Sure Nick will share his thoughts as well!

You can definitely pick up the pace more so then the 23's infact I found them very similar to the nova blast 2 but way more stable. I gave away my nova blast 2 after getting the 24's they just fit better and feel more nimble and the gel works well in protecting the knees.

Love how you and Nicky respond to your audience, this video sold me on keeping my nimbus 24 instead of exchanging them. My rotation right now is just a pair of speed 2’s as my daily and next %2’s for my races and figured I need a max cushion shoe for my slow days.

Just one objection to Nimbus 24. When I tried it, its mesh rubbed along the metatarsal part.
Other than that, awesome, superb. I really hate when that happens. Ruin piece of art.
But for reasons above I probably take Brooks Glycerin GTS.
(don't know whY Glycerin 20 has more points than the GTS version..)

as for every previous version, nimbus are very unlikely to get in relatively fast runners' radar, not even for recoveries. Especially in these pricetags. If you run at race pace slower than 5min/klm, you might be interested, because they are usually built to last

    • @wallgoingaway6566

what do you reckon is a recovery shoe for faster runners?

    • @nikosnikos4959
      @nikosnikos4959 2 года назад +1

well in this brand, novablasts are cheaper lighter faster and equally cushioned
