Agreed!

Fun fact: A Spitfire was once captured by the Luftwaffe and was fitted with a DB 605 engine. Sadly, it was destroyed during a bomber raid during WW2.

@@RAF71chingachgook Ugly? How could this be seen as such?
Emperor Sudo The canopy is brutally ugly. Really bad. It makes no sense. They kept that break frame mess throughout the war. Looks like Buba made it in his tin shed. No, it looks like Buba’s tin shed.
@@RAF71chingachgook But it was for pilot protection and survivability. Durability especially. If you shoot a bubble canopy, half the dome shatters and it has a larger profile. I wouldn't want a shell going off right by my face with nothing to stop it before it hits the front of the cockpit and damages instruments if not turning the pilot into tomato paste. Not to mention disruption of aerodynamics and the freezing temperatures.
@@RAF71chingachgook If a round of any sort, explosive or not hits a 109 canopy, which is quite a task within itself, there is steel and whole blocks of bulletproof glass to eat them up and protect the cockpit. And if regular glass gets shot somewhere in a 109, only a small portion of the small portion of canopy glass will shatter

To anyone thinking about making an airplane video, please use this as a template. No voice overs or music. Gets right to the point of the video. Plenty of blue in the sky, not overcast. Close images of low flight. And LOUD sounds of the bird. This one gets 5 out of 5 stars.
Agreed @Thomas T you don't need anything else. This is the best music.
I totally agree. The plane makes much better music than someone on a musical instrument. Let that DB sing her own twelve-note song.
What a genius Willy Messerschmitt was...! These 109s are some 90 years old, yet they look so awesome, impressive and fearsome,,,not to mention the sound of those DB engines ! I watched this G-14 taxi down the landing strip at the end with my mouth half-opened in awe....what a beautiful bird !
I can imagine how scary this engine sounded to allied infantry.
I think the 109s were too busy chasing bombers to spend time strafing Allied soldiers in 1944.
And getting chased around by P47s and 51s
Not even half as scary as a few hundred B-17’s or B-24’s flying overhead. Hundreds of Germans crapped their pants when they heard that sound coming.
