Loved this video and your takes on these costumes! For me, I know a lot can be (and has been) said about the rest of the movie, but I'll always admire Far From Home for committing to an accurate Mysterio look with his snow globe head and purple cape and all.
I like the fact that the "theatricality" of the costume factored into the plot. And how, after the reveal, his costume was just a mo-cap suit with a globe-screen to display his UI. The rest of the film isn't that great, though (IMO).
Not really a costume, but Khonshu from Moon Knight is one of the most perfect adaptations of a comicbook character. Perfectly captures both the divine and creepy essence of a mad god
I love the Deadpool suit despite the leathery look to it. The first set photo I saw of it made me say “of course that’s how it’s look irl, it’s perfect!”
Cool list! Personally I'll think the suit cap wears in "endgame" would be perfect if they hadn't muted the color on it so kuch. If the blue and red was just a couple shades lighter I thunk it would be perfect.
I really like Andrew’s second Spider-Man suit. It’s one of my favourite superhero costumes ever put to screen, calling cosplay does sit well for me. I also love Tobey’s suit as well. The only thing missing on those suits is the round spider which was used only once on the stark suit, not even new red and blue suit has it. I wonder why costume designers don’t like it.
Really good video and an interesting topic! My favourite costume would be Raimi Trilogy Spider-Man because it was my first introduction to the character when I was just a little kid and it had a deep effect on me and lighted my passion for super heroes, my favourite part of this costume is the pointy eyes, i think it gives a lot of personality and looks really cool!
Thanks! Yep, the Raimi suit is classic in its own way. I remember not liking it when it first came out because it deviated from the version I was familiar with. I love it now though.
One of my favorite live action costume designs which I also find underrated has to be the Flash from the 90s TV show, it follows similar principles to Reeves Superman in its simplicity, and it has for me atleast not been topped by any other Flash costume since even.
I'm mixed on it, to be honest. Narratively, it makes sense and I don't see how they could pull it off any other way. But the comics design is so iconic and a huge part of the appeal of the character. To me, it's like having Superman's costume be jeans and a T-shirt.
I suppose this probably doesn’t count as a superhero movie necessarily but I think I’d have to include the Del Toro Hellboy look. The amount of time and energy (not to mention makeup) that went into making Ron Perlman Anung Un Rama was insane and can’t be overstated. That effort is really shown when you compare it to the remake’s seeming lack of interest in making him look good
10:56 I miss when mogies had actual Iron Man costumes where actual practical suits were made instead of being just CGI stuff that doesn't exist like nowadays in films like Thor love and thunder
My favorite suits from the X-Men are the suits they get at the very end of Apocalypse. They are so comic accurate, but unique and grounded at the same time. My personal highlights are Quicksilver, Nightcrawler, and Cyclops Edit: The Flash's Season 7 suit in the CW show is a perfect translation of The Flash in live action imo, and Robert Pattinson's suit in The Batman is the best way to modernize a classic. They lean into his silhouette, but add functionality in the details
So, okay, I don't know if it counts, and hear me out before glaring or whatever, but Judge Dredd's look from the 1995 movie is spot-on with the comics... Right up until Stallone takes the helmet off. Seriously, the first 15 minutes of that movie are pitch perfect to the original 2000 AD stories; it's just that the movie kept going after that. Also, again, I don't know if it counts, but Doug Jones' look as the Silver Surfer got me excited for the second Fantastic Four movie, even after the... Let's be nice and call it 'disappointment' that was the first one.
Thor's costume in the 1st movie with the helmet which was never seen again in the other movies. The helmet was cool as hell. In the comics Thor would get it knocked off but would always pick it back up. Let's face it with the helmet he's a Viking God without it he's a biker with a sledgehammer.
Honestly one of my favorite live action costumes was and still is the Black Suited Spider-Man costume from Spider-Man 3. It was just so slick, black and cool looking plus it made Spider-Man look and be waay stringer than his previous suit did. A close second was the Mark 2 Armour from Iron Man 2 A third was Thomas Jane's Punisher outfit in the 2004 Punisher movie, just the all black clothes with the long black trench coat combined with the faded punisher logo on his chest just screamed BADASS
Love the list. Personally, i would have swapped out Wonder Woman with Black Panther and have Thor's Love and Thunder costume (he had several but definitely not the colorfully loud one) an honorable mention.

Sadly we wont see the likes of Christopher Reeve on the big screen (alough was a nice CGI touch to see him back with Helen Slater Supergirl in the Flash although ive seen on RUclips a better edit from original movies would have been better than bad CGI they did use). Hello Panels to Pixels great video on 10 Superhero Movie Costumes defiantly want to hear your thoughts on 10 Superhero Movie Villain Costumes those also like Superhero costumes have been hit and miss as well. Keep up the amazing content looking forward to more videos from the channel.
Blade's costume from the first movie was a great modernization of a lesser known comic book character. The outfit looked both functional and bad ass at the same time and the leather trench coat and sunglasses made it pop even more. Deadpool was another fantastic costume. Granted the character has had several looks over his comic career but the movie nailed an icon look complete with the expressive eyes before Spider-Man got them in Civil War. Shoot there's even a montage scene dedicated to him making changes perfecting his costume! Not sure if it's considered a "superhero" movie but the Robocop costume was outrageously good. Long before Iron Man, this costume was damn near perfect. You have to remind yourself that there's an actor in there because it is so believable that they took what remained of Alex Murphy and made him a cyborg. Scenes like the data spike in his fist and the gun concealed in his thigh were done so well you didn't even question it. Please do a follow up to this video with a counterpoint of 10 worst costumes highlighting atrocious fails. Sorry Clooney but I'm calling it now that the bat nipples are on that list.
Yes. Both the No Way Home final swing and Christopher Reeve suits are my favs, but I also want to add the '90s Ninja Turtles to the mix as well. The perfect blend of late '80s fun of the cartoon and seriousness from the original comics courtesy of the Jim Henson's Creature Shop.
Netflix's Daredevil show is one of the finest examples imo, a really visually striking suit and the logic of it was great. and ofc putting charlie cox in the suit was the best part
So I'm with you on the Christopher Reeves Super-suit, the Michelle Pfeiffer Catwoman outfit, the Aquaman armor and the Nicholson Joker duds - but here, in no particular order, are the other six of MY top ten: Blade's tactical gear from 'Blade'. One of the most effective and iconic redesigns EVER, turning an obscure Marvel supporting character into an enduring icon of badass. (Alongside Wesley Snipes' performance, of course. But an awesome costume always helps a guy get into character.) The Rocketeer suit from 'The Rocketeer'. Alongside Reeve's outfit, probably the absolute most faithfully adapted comics outfit EVER. They literally changed only one thing - the design of the jetpack - and that actually improved it, so no complaints. The Bat-suit from 'Batman Returns'. Yes, I know he still can't move his neck, but regardless, this is my favorite Bat-suit - bold, simple and awesome. Eric Draven's outfit from 'The Crow'. It's amazing how iconic some tight black street clothes, a trench coat and some chunky boots can become with the addition of some face-paint and a few bullet holes. V's costume from 'V for Vendetta'. Another extremely faithful page-to-screen adaptation - all they did was tweak a few design elements, and it was perfect. (And, of course, the mask carries the film.) The skull-bikers from 'Batman Returns'. (Can you guess which is my favorite comic book movie?) Yes, they're technically only background characters, but can you name a more iconic supervillain goon than these guys, considering how briefly they're actually onscreen? I mean, they're bikers in Victorian clown outfits wearing helmets shaped like giant skulls, complete with little bobbly eyes in the sockets - never has so much time and effort gone into the visual design of throwaway thugs for Batman to punch.
I don’t fw with the small ass eyes in Holland’s suit. It’s classic, yeah but Todd McPharlane redefined what Spider-Man is. To me Spider-Man has big ass eyes, that’s just the standard
Tobey Maguires Spider-Man costume People dont seem to understand why this costume is perfect for the cinema. From every angle, it looks amazing. And thank you for appreciating something in the X-Men movies Iron Man in the original Iron Man Christopher Reeves Superman suit
I love the final swing suit. It gives credit to it's predecessors and it shows a classic design. I really excited for Spider-Man 4! I hope they do the Black suit justice.
Yeah, did a recent MCU rewatch and one thing that was pretty notable about Iron Man's suit was how much loving detail is placed on the chonky mechanicalness of it in the early films. Those films just loved all the gears, servos and panels, it was so fun to look at. Then of course as time goes on, this becomes less and less of a focus as the suit becomes less grounded and more fantastical, to the point where by the end it might was well be a magic suit of armor that materializes at will. Like you say, I get why this happened narratively, but I find the later suits, especially the nano suit, to be so boring to look at.
Those were some great pics. A few of mine are. They're TWO in X-MEN Apocalypse. Psylocke's costume. Her costume looked like it was drawn straight out of the comic book! And of course, its Scott Summers in the Cyclops costume from X-MEN the Animated Series. Seeing it shocked and amazed me, I started GEEKING out! All I was saying "DOPE...DOPE...DOPE! Oh my GOD that's DOPE!" My number 1pic is.. The Flash costume from THE FLASH tv show from the 70's! That's the Epitome of the Scarlett Speedster's costume! NOTHING since then has ever come close!
8:14 to be fair these movies are made to appeal to all audiences and it's impossible to impress everyone there's always going to someone saying the colors are to bring or dark or it doesn't look accurate to the comics I think the MCU version of captain americas suits look great considering just how difficult it is to make a man dressed as the embodiment of American imperialism look great
I enjoy Aquamans outfit the most. I don’t even have the smallest criticism of it. Same with Vigilante and Peacemakers from the Suicide Squad along with Deadpools outfit in the Deadpool movies.
The suits from the end of X Men apocalypse are so peak I will never forgive them for scrapping them, they should’ve got a collective mention. Also it’s like barely different and doesn’t even make sense to be different at all canonically but I prefer the golden age suit from winter soldier cuz it’s like exactly the first avengers shit but with a third stripe added in the middle which is a minor but perfect improvement
It's been a year: Time for a "Top 10 Superhero TV Costumes" video! Obviously the Fleischer Superman costume (Superman and Lois flashback) would be number 1 but what else shows up on the list?
Thor 1 is still the best Thor movie in my opinion all the costumes are great in that film Loki is at his best as a complex villain that I can understand and empathize with
Finally someone acknowledges how dope the golden suit in WW 1984 is. The movie was ass but the suit was incredible. Same sort of situation as The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
I don’t care if there goofy I want comic actuate suits there my favourite suits the 90’s flash suit is perfect Reeves superman suit it’s perfect the suit cap wore before his military suit it’s perfect
Yeah, i agree, I fkn love Spidey but in tasm1 especially, he looked like a dodgeball. And i should know, i always held one as i watched from the bench. 😆. Also, 💯 on Aquaman. Didn't like Nicholson though, and u got it buddy. Spidermans newest suit looks amazing. 👍
I know it doesn't really count but Age Of Extinction Optimus Prime is by far the best that movie Optimus has ever looked. Before that fourth movie he just looked as messy and convoluted as the rest of the bots, the only thing making him stand out being his color scheme and decent looking head. Then this fourth movie knight look came along and he just looks more complete, focused, grand, *heroic.* He actually looks like what the heroic leader of the Autobots would look like in real life.... Too bad the movie this design debuted in is the worst piece of shit in the whole damn series _(which in a series of progressively bad movies is actually saying something)._ And the new look didn't exactly do his bog standard characterization any favors.
Erm. Where's Spawn???????

I agree with the Christopher Reeve version being the iconic Superman.
Best Cap suit is the one in Endgame 100%. They pulled off the fish scales...THE SCALES
I always thought that the stitching from Catwoman’s costume represented her sanity and how it’s barely being threaded together.
Man, The Rocketeer never gets any love. Dude is a Superhero too, damnit.

Thank you!
Great picks, Josh! I’d like to give a shoutout to Batfleck’s suit in BvS. It comes close to perfection if it just had the trunks.
No trunks, no dice. Thanks man, I appreciate it!
I would've put the First Class suits on the list, perfect "adaption" of the classic 60s costumes without looking plain.

DUDE I've just watched your vid from Whatculture (Top 10 hero beat down) and I was wondering why the heck he sounded like the guy from What Culture
Haha, that's rad. Thanks for watching!
I love all the Iron Man armors in the MCU
Finally someone acknowledges how dope the golden suit in WW 1984 is. The movie was ass but the suit was incredible. Same sort of situation as The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
I don’t care if there goofy I want comic actuate suits there my favourite suits the
90’s flash suit is perfect Reeves superman suit it’s perfect the suit cap wore before his military suit it’s perfect
I think Wolverine's costume in the movie X-Men: Days of Future Past the best he had.
That's a bad outFIT! Woo!
Amazing work. But Burton's Batman? surely.
I'm tired of seeing so many versions of the joker in movies
What about Ben aflecks batsuit in Batman v Superman?
The cap head wings are necessary
Doc Ock was perfect.
Raimi Spidey (2004) is the best by far
Rocketeer??? Also 1990 Flash is amazing, also by Dave Stevens
Superman and batman and spider-man do it best and cap was great in the mcu most of the time
Dude part two with hellboy
Archangel in xMen Apocalypse
What’s wrong with Captain America’s Winter Soldier and Endgame costume ?
what about Sam Raimi's Green Goblin?
I prefer Superman's costume in the movie Man of Steel, modernized and took his underwear over silly and cheesy.
