    If you want to “throw a dart” for a good place to begin your camera and light settings for a simple studio setup like this, I recommend you begin with:
    F/8
    ISO 320
    SS 1/200 seconds
    Flash power 1/32
    That will likely get you very close a proper exposure, and you can just make micro adjustments up or down from there. Starting in the middle and deciding which direction to go (lighting wise) is always a better option than pegging the exposure all the way and then guessing how much to dial it back.
    And, unless you intend to have harder, specular light, I would suggest some sort of defusion, dish or other light-shaping methods that complement the model’s skin. Just pointing the light at her is not ideal for most beauty work. If that wasn’t your goal then disregard.

    Just a note on the RF glass. I had the 24-70 EF L II f2.8. On the 5DMKIII it was fantastic, however, with the EF-RF Adaptor on the R5C something didn't feel right. I upgraded to the 28-70 RF L f2. Hot damn, it's my fav lens of all time.

    • @guyxphoto
      @guyxphoto  Год назад +1

      Agreed! The RF line is definitely a step up from the EF lenses, but those EF lenses still get the job done. I’ve tried the 28-70 and I like it, but it’s just a little too heavy for me. I personally love a lighter setup.

      You can either move the light to chest level and shoot straight on, which would get rid of the shadow even though it wouldn’t be as flattering. You can also separate her from the backdrop and add lights behind her pointed at the backdrop to blow it out and get rid of the shadow.
