We will be covering natural diamonds, lab diamonds, white sapphire and moissanite. The pro's and con's of each option and what you should know before making your ring. Time stamps below.

The pandemic has made many people re-evaluate what is most important and where money is best spent. Engagement Ring diamonds are not an investment with a $$$ return unless you work with a vendor that has an upgrade program. Absolutely no one buys a diamond ring and in 50 years can cash in like it's a stock investment or a home purchase. So folks should buy whatever make fiscal sense and is beautiful. I think it is disingenious to imply that diamonds available to the average public is an investment.
Clients should always buy what makes fiscal sense, I would never even suggest a diamond to a client who doesn't have the budget. We always try to find the best match in terms of quality, price and esthetics. Diamond engagement rings and engagement rings in general are a luxury purchase. By no means am I saying that diamonds are an investment piece for the average person. I am explaining that out of all the options natural diamonds of good quality are the option that will hold they're value, unlike synthetic which depreciate dramatically.
And no you don't need to work with a jeweler to sell your diamond. You would have it apraised by a gemnologist and they would give you the retail value of the diamond and that is when you could choose to sell via a jeweler or directly to consumer.
You are very clearly just doing a sales pitch for natural diamond.
No, we almost exclusively sell sapphires. We make very poor margins on natural diamond, it's not worth my time
I am not impressed by white sapphires....
I have also seen several brilliant cut diamonds. One being my mother's.
I have a 1.5 carat pear solitaire that is part of my first wedding set. I have come to appreciate moissanite and just purchased our 25th anniversary set for myself and husband's band. Our budget is like any middle class American but our ethical beliefs have changed. Moissanite being referred to as a glorified cz is definitely a demeaning statement in order to sell sapphires. We have to be mindful of the things we say to make a buck.

I don’t see the issue with lab diamonds, it’s all compressed carbon at the end of the day rather it’s natural or mined the only difference is I could pay 1400 for a lab or 10k for a natural. Natural diamonds loose value over time too and for the average person spending 10 k on a Diamond is not a smart investment at all!
Moissanite all the way. It's so beautiful, durable, and affordable. I'm not interested in resale value because I'm not planning on selling my ring and I don't want to wear thousands of dollars on my hand on a daily basis.
with lab grown diamonds growing in popularity and the next generation Gen Z coming up real diamonds are going to loose value. The new generation values other things more than diamonds. Some even chose to swap into diffrent stones that arent white

Great info in this video but I'm still choosing a lab over natural.
I've experienced trading in some natural diamond jewelry (3 years old) and didn't get nearly as much as I paid for them and that left an impression.
I don't think natural diamonds are good investments and I'll probably never buy a mined diamond ever again. I see them no different from a car purchase. As soon as you drive them off the lot, the depreciation starts.
However, I do love the durability of diamonds and the sparkle.
For my next & last ring upgrade I'm going with a higher quality setting, and a lab diamond in a size and shape that I don't plan on ever upgrading. In this way, I won't have any concerns of resell value. I see the most value in saving in upfront cost. The money I'll save can be used for better investments with much larger returns than a diamond.
If I could do it all over again, I would've gone with a lab diamond in the size I actually wanted, instead of buying into the upgrade plan and purchasing the diamond size I could afford at the time.

I completely understand, I would just be curious about the diamond jewelry you bought. For sure any time you are reselling a whole piece (not just the diamond) you will loose money on fabrication and the jewelers markup, so you will always loose a small percentage. Bit I'd be curious of the quality of the diamonds. Because if they are poor cut or commercial grade they won't necessarily be sought after vs higher quality diamonds that have been cut in the last decade. Also did you resell it to a jeweler or direct to consumer, this will have a difference.
I understand your opinion but if you are going to buy a lab diamond it does loose its value as soon as it leaves the jeweler but you will still be paying a good 3-4k for 1ct and up, so why not buy a CZ for 1$. I'd love to hear your thoughts!
True, but I feel the lab diamond will get me closer to the diamond quality & ct size I desire, at a lower price point.
I think my preference in stones will always be diamonds. I'm just not willing to pay as much for them anymore.
Maybe my thoughts around lab vs. natural would be different if I didn't have other priorities in my life right now (new parent, new homeowner & back in school).
I may be busy and give pricier purchases more thought, but I still love diamonds ! =)
Right on! I just sold a Lab diamond ring that I spend $2000.00 for a few years ago for almost the same price after enjoying it for over 3 years. And if that ring was a natural diamond, it would have cost $20,000. And for that price, I would have prefer to spend it on a new bathroom..
So I think Lab diamonds are the best deals when it comes to their spectacular look and their reasonable prices for large stones.

Nobody buys Diamonds to make money and nobody will ever take the ring off your finger and test the stone, wear a 2Ct on your finger for a fraction of the price and spend the savings on a nice holiday..

Interesting video , allot of information I have a moissanite and I'm very happy! It's our engagement ring " upgrade " we are not bothered about the resell value .
I love the stone it's beautiful it's exactly what I have always wanted ..I wouldn't change it for the world:) and I love the story behind moissanite and how it was discovered.

Diamonds are amazing but sometimes i feel overrated but that's MY opinion and definitely people maybe feel that about moissanite as well but , I'm happy with my moissanite:D

There’s no ethical consumption under capitalism. Also, jewelry isn’t an investment regardless of the stone in the jewelry. This is a wildly biased take. Mined and lab diamonds are physically and visually identical - why on earth would anyone want to pay 3-5X+ more for one that came out of the ground? ANY diamond will depreciate, and no diamond is going to be sold at the same price it was purchased new at.

Hi Mika! No the cuts today are allot better now in the last let's say 15 years then they were previously. The technology that we have now makes so that we have been able to perfect the cut and you can see just how much more beautiful they are!

Moissanite is very pretty so get it if you like it and do not want to spend your money on a diamond
white sapphire doesn't sparkle
Depends on the cut and quality but it doesn't sparkle like a diamond

Kind of contradictory… You said you’d spot a moissanite right away because it looks fake because it’s super sparkly but then said it looks dull in real life lol 🤔
It really depends on the lighting, in natural daylight it looks dull but in LED lighting it will have a very synthetic rainbow appearance, sorry if that was not clear
I have a few Moissanite rings and a diamond Cuban chain. Moissanite gives off this very bright and sparkly look, it looks pretty good, but in natural lighting it looks a little dull, kinda white ish, but with some light it does give off that “water effect”. Diamonds on the other hand sparkle like a camera flash, all in all, I can’t really tell the difference with tiny stones like the ones on my rings and my chain but bigger stones for sure you can tell the difference. Moissanites will often times be whiter than diamonds. They’re both great either way, if you’re going white gold, I’d rather go for a silver Moissanite piece, if you want that yellow gold look, definitely go for the 14k SI1+
@@hernandezbeast4810 Yes exactly! When they're smaller points, its harder to tell but for larger center stones, the difference becomes quite apparent. Moissanites do have this grey appearance to them.

Hmmmm I m all for natural diamonds 💎 but only because of the romanticism in me that I like to think I m wearing something natural and that was formed by Mother Earth.
Otherwise lab grown are amazing and a good investment from what I see, natural they sell it sooo expensive but they re not worth the price at all! Lab grown diamonds require a loooot of energy hence the price and hence I see their price going up in the future.
No unfortunately lab diamond prices have plummeted, I don't know where your seeing your info, but they are cheaper now then ever. The influx from India and China has flooded the market causing prices to crash. It's the reason why the 2nd largest USA lab produces just went bankrupt.
If you didn't make this video I would have made a huge mistake and gotten lab or moissanite. I wouldn't have known about white sapphire. I prefer natural stones too, but I didn't know about the depreciation of lab stones! It always felt weird to go lab, now I'm glad I trusted my gut. White sapphire it is! Thank you ❤

Moisonite is technically part crystallized carbon aka Diamond. It’s Silicon carbide. It’s 75% carbon by weight. I agree natural hold it’s value the best. The allure of its being 3.5B years old is cool.
For an investment buy gold or platinum not a stone. Or better buy the S&P500 index

I'd love to see cz pass a diamond tester. LoL. Moissanites will pass many, not all. Natural diamonds are worth it if you have children and grandchildren to pass them down to, or resell. I have a few diamond and moissanite pieces, and I actually love the moissys more. The diamonds do look a little finer though. I'll give you that. I think the diamond industry is a big scam though. Platinum, gold and silver are more important.
Agreed. One can make an endless amount of diamonds but not gold or platinum.
