    Dude, I'm watching this video 3 years from when it was uploaded. I appreciate the effort you put in for cool edits and overlays for the video. I'm currently fixing the exhaust manifold bolts that sheared off in my block, and was going through videos for some type of guidance. This helped, I'm still going to use stock everything, but atleast I now know there is an alternative that might prevent future problems. Subscribed.

    My 2019 Ram cracked both manifolds almost in half after a high speed cross country run. I replaced them with stainless steel JBA shortys and now have approximately 8000 miles of trouble free driving. Don’t listen to BS about shortys being a waste of money. I got noticeable performance gains across the RPM range. Sure long tubes would have got more but I didn’t require a tune so I’m very pleased with the results.

  • @Fordraptor12

    I was thinking about doing shortys on my truck but I’ve heard mixed things about them. I live in southern Ontario where the roads get salted to oblivion in the winter. I’ve heard that the shorties will crack over time so I went with the BD diesel manifolds instead.

    For the header wrap, I used small hose clamps to hold it in place on my Harley. Been a couple years and still holding fine.

    • @bigdaddyshouse
      @bigdaddyshouse  3 года назад

      Hey Monroe, I can see how that would work well for a Harley but for the twisted tubes of a shorty header you definitely need to use the clamps I did.

    I personally think the BD Diesel kit is the best, they use better quality bolts, they use spacers to help dissipate heat, and the mount the heat shield and separate bolts from the headers to dissipate heat, they also have thicker walled manifold, also the parts cost less than stock replacement parts

    Great video, I never thought about wrapping mine before your video. I installed the BBK headers and Grade 8 in the Spring of 2019, but I couldn't get half of the locking tabs 2 fit, due to the bolts' close proximity to the pipes. Can you post a video clip of them installed, so your viewers can have a better visual on how to align the tabs so they fit without cutting them?

    • @bigdaddyshouse
      @bigdaddyshouse  4 года назад +1

      Hey James, hope everything is well with you.
      I decided to wrap my headers because I've read and seen too many horror stories of melted wires and hoses. These things get crazy hot!
      Have you come across any problems in your engine compartment yet?
      So with the way these tubesare snaked around It is almost inevitable you're going to have to cut or grind to get all the tabs to fit.
      Unfortunately yesterday I just got some bad news about my headers. I was told the driver side was cracked right by the weld where they all meet together.
      I'm probably going to hoist this thing up today or tomorrow to double-check it for myself.
      So good news for you guys if it is indeed cracked because I'll have to replace it and of course I will do a video on that.

      Hey Tyson, if you have a seized up roller you can get it fixed for probably around 3 grand.
      I want a different route because I had 100,000 miles on my engine and I wanted it to last for a long while.
      I opted with putting a rebuilt Jasper engine inside of it.
      My truck was out of warranty so this was the route I took and here's my breakdown brother.
      5.7 hemi Jasper engine $4,685
      Engine install kit $380
      MDS solenoids $366
      Anti-freeze coolant $51
      Oil filter, oil change $28
      labor $1,050
      Total $6,976
      Hope this helps any future decisions brother.

    At what point does the tick normally start happening? I recently got a 2017 ram with only 15k miles on it. My last truck, 05 Silverado had this same issue, and I hoping to fix this before these bolts become a problem.

      Hey brother, according to people in the RAM forum this has happened at all at various mileage. If I remember correctly even as early as 10,000 mi. I remember some people saying they've had it happen at 20 40 and 60,000 mi.
      For me personally it happened at 90,000 mi.
      This will be a great question to ask in the RAM forum and see what kind of response you get from everybody in there.

    Get a set of well "seasoned" (high mileage) manifolds and get them planed flat at a machine shop-reinstall with new hardware and high quality gaskets and voila! Problem solved and way cheaper and way easier than headers! The headers are a Beeatch to install and your trucks not going to magically turn into a race truck with the headers anyway!

      Hey, The Truth, assuming it is just an exhaust leak what I was describing in this video, just replace the broken bolts.
      if you do not want to do it yourself it will probably only cost a couple hundred dollars at any shop. If it's under warranty then no worries.

    • @bigdaddyshouse
      @bigdaddyshouse  3 года назад +1

      Thanks brother! Glad to have you aboard.
      So what you are describing sounds like a tall tale exhaust leak.
      First thing I would do is inspect your exhaust manifold and make sure none of the bolts have been shared off.
      It is super common for these HEMIs.
      To fix it you'll have to remove the exhaust manifold and then extract the bowl and put a new one in.
      It's a real inexpensive fix if you do it yourself. If you have a shop dude it'll probably be a few hundred bucks.
      Thanks for watching the channel and I appreciate your support.
